Abhira stared ahead, her face void of any emotion as if she wasn't hearing anything, staring at nothing in particular as if he wasn't present there.

Armaan called out, his heart pounding out of fear as he reached out, his hand cradling her cheek.

Abhira remained still, her mind, still caught in the haze of the pain, refused to acknowledge his touch. She was staring ahead expressionlessly as if she was staring into nothingness.

Abhira please kuch bolo.

Armaan cried out, his tears spilling over as he caressed her cheek with trembling fingers but Abhira remained still, not responding to his touch, her face void of any emotion, her eyes empty as if she wasn't able to see or hear him.

Armaan called out, his voice breaking in anguish, his heart constricted rather painfully in his chest but she remained still, her face hollow and her eyes as empty as ever.

He let out a semi yell, his eyes wide in horror and he pulled her closer, enveloping her frame in his arms in a desperate hug.

But she didn't respond to him. Her arms didn't wrap themselves around him like they used to, instead, she remained still, caught in the haze of her pain.

Instead she remained still, looking at nothing in particular expressionlessly as if he she couldn't hear him, her muscles didn't relax into his embrace like they used to. Instead, her muscles were stiff with tension as if she was bounded and was struggling to break free.

He pulled back and cupped her face, his eyes searching hers for any emotion but was unable to.

Her eyes stared at him, they were empty as ever sitting still.

She felt a heartbeat against her cheek, cold. She stared at nothing in particular lost in the haze of her pain.

His hands trembled as he cupped her face, his eyes filled with a mixture of pain, greif and guilt as he pleaded her to speak.

Armaan cried out, his voice quivering with emotion. His heart racing with a mixture of pain, guilt, greif and an overwhelming sense of fear.

She remained silent, sitting there still as if she couldn't hear or see him, her eyes hollow.

The silence was suffocating , gripping his heart tightly and twisting it mercilessly in his chest, the loud beats echoing in his ears as he stared at her with a mixture of fear and panic.

ABHIRA KUCH BOLO.

He yelled out, his voice trembling with a mixture of desperation and fear but she remained still, caught in the haze of her greif.

Abhira please.

He chocked out, his voice caught in his throat and he fell on his knees in front of her holding her hands but she remained expressionless, staring at the wall.

Armaan,s words, the tender kiss he placed on the back of her palm just now, his tears... Everything felt hollow to her.

She stared at him as if she couldn't see or hear him, as if he wasn't there at all.

I'm sorry Abhira. I'm sorry for everything. I'm sorry for everything I did. Tum mujhe jo Marzi saza de lo per aise behave mat karo jaise main yahan per hoon hi nahin. Please Abhira yun khamosh mat raho. I promise Abhira main sab theek ker doonga just give me a chance.

But she remained silent, his tears, his words, his promise..... Everything felt hollow to her as if she was hearing a joke. It all felt like it was a lie, a fragile promise meant to be broken anytime soon.

For the first time, she didn't reach out to comfort him, for the first time she didn't reach out to wipe his tears, the touch of his hands against her skin felt cold, void of the warmth that used to soothe her in her moments of vulnerability.

Abhira kabhi maa nahin ban sakti.

Abhira ke hathon mein mere bete Armaan ka naam kabhi nahin likha jayega.

The words hit her but she stood there emotionlessly unable to feel anything.

Meri life tumhara koi project nahin hai Abhira jo tum usse theek kerne mein lag jati ho.

Tum kya chahati ho Abhira ke meri maa jo abhi tak mujhse theek se baat nahin kerti woh meri shakal bhi na dekhe.

The words echoed in the hollows of her heart, cutting through her soul and suddenly it all came crashing back, all the memories hit her like a tidal wave, the cruel memories that haunted her every night jolted her out of her dazed state. She blinked her eyes as if finally snapping back to reality.

She jerked his hands away with surprising force and stood on her feet.

The sharp jerk sent him stumbling backwards and he stared at her in shock, caught off guard by her sudden move.

Abhira.....

He trailed off as he caught the look in her eyes. There was strange sense of hollowness in her gaze that had his heart trembling in her chest.

Abhira stared at him with a hollow look in her eyes. Her gaze cutting through the distance between them.

Armaan stood up slowly, still in shock by the sudden push gulping the lump that formed in his throat and took a step forward but helted in his tracks catching the look in her eyes.

His breath left him in a sharp gasp as he discovered an emotion in her eyes that he dared not to acknowledge.

Hate. Was that hate?

His mind raced while he stood there frozen, not daring to move.

The hollow look in her eyes wrapped itself around him like a suffocating fog while Abhira stared at him with an undefinable emotion that left him both, puzzled and scared and she turned to leave the room.

He watched her retreating figure while standing there frozen,  not daring to move.
