Isabelle Olympus part 4
Hey guys! I know it's not very long but I felt bad for making you wait for a long time! And thanks for the suport it really makes my day when I see I get a comment on my story. Enjoy!
There was silence as I stood in front of my parents holding Connor's hand, it was like anyone bringing their boyfriend home for the first time to meet their parents but thirteen times worse. Aphrodite seemed to be the only person who wasn't frowning at the joined hands hoping that if they stared hard enough they would jump apart or burst into flames. Surprisingly, it was Iris that jumped to my aid.
"Izzy, you have to come cut the cake." She interrupted, grabbing my free hand and pulling me away. I thought it wise at this point to drop Connor's hand and allow myself to be dragged to a table that had appeared out of thin air. On the table there was a large cake, with perfect frosting and 'Happy Birthday' written in elegant script across the top. I couldn't help but grin at her excitement, she was practically jumping up and down like a little puppy. She handed me the knife, I closed my eyes and cut the cake. What did I wish? A billion things at once, I wished for my parents to accept the fact that I was going out with Connor. I wished that I would be a good goddess, I wished that I wouldn't completely muck this up.
For the rest of the night my parents seemed to make it their mission to keep me as far away from Connor as possible. Whenever we were talking one of them would interrupt and lead one of us away, whenever we were sitting anywhere near each other someone would pop up in the middle of us making conversation almost impossible. They were being so childish, but I guess they were used to getting exactly what they wanted.
When they had run out of excuses to prevent me from talking to Connor, they decided that it was time for me to go home as it was 'getting late'. Iris wasn't having any of it though, she demanded the right to take me out to a club, using a puppy dog face that should be illegal, no one could say no to that face. So Iris started dragging me towards exit whilst I looked helplessly around for another way out. My eyes made contact with my parents' begging them to get me out of this, I had done enough dancing with the Aphrodite girls earlier this evening to kill my feet, but no one tried to save me. The ferociously determined look on Iris' face stopped anyone who was thinking of stepping in, the bunch of cowardly traitors. I glared at them all as I was being dragged away to a torturous evening but they all just smirked smugly at me, happy at not being in my shoes, quite literally.
"Where are we going?" I whined like a toddler. Iris just rolled her eyes at my tone and kept going forward.
"We are going to a club."
"But why? Do we have to?" I groaned.
"To celebrate, of course, it's not every day a girl turns sixteen for the rest of her now immortal life. And I don't think you're really reacting the right way." She said frowning.
"I'm sorry it's just that my feet are already killing me from earlier in the night." I said shrugging, hoping that I hadn't offended her, I had only just met her and didn't want to lose her as a friend.
"Ah, I've got just the thing." She replied giggling, as she dragged me over to one of the market stalls. A few minutes later she came out of the shop holding something behind her back. "Now this might just be the best invention that any of the gods have inspired and a gift for every girl." She handed me a small packet with a picture of a pair of heels with wings attached.
"Hermes' helping heels?" I asked incredulously, this was so something that I could tease Hermes about.
"Laugh all you want but these are life savers, literally." She told me with a serious face. Still sceptical I opened the packet and took out two pads made of a jelly material and put them inside my shoes as Iris instructed me.
"OH MY GODS!" I said shocked. My feet felt like they were floating on air as I jumped up and down testing the feeling out. There was no pain anymore, it was incredible. The next time I saw Hermes I would bow down and worship his winged feet for the miracle they had given to all woman-kind.
"When you've calmed down, do you want to get going?" Iris asked with her arms folded and a smug smile plastered on her face. I nodded with new found enthusiasm, suddenly the idea of going to a club was strangely appealing now that I didn't want to rip my shoes off and hurl them back at Christian Louboutin. Who I've decided is a sadistic torturer of women, and gets paid a hell of a lot to do it too.
Iris smiled and nodded approving of my change in attitude, before she dragged me out of the empire state building and on to the streets of New York. We skipped down the street and quickly found a posh looking club which had a long queue of people waiting outside in the cold. I walked to the back of the queue to wait to get in, suddenly realising that they probably weren't going to let us in as we didn't have ID. Iris just looked at me strangely asking "What are you doing?"
"Er. . . waiting to get in, like everybody else?" I said, but it came out more as a question.
"Yeah, but we're not like everybody else. Especially tonight, tonight is your night and you're not going to be waiting for anything!" Iris said rolling her eyes as she grabbed my arm dragging me to the front and flashing a dazzling smile at the bouncers. The two men at the door were huge, and they didn't return Iris' smile, they just stared blankly at us.
"ID?" One of them asked gruffly. I turned my panic stare to Iris who looked calm and relaxed. She just shoved her hand in her purse and pulled out two student ID's. How in Olympus did she manage that? The bouncer looked over them before nodding and stepping aside to let us in, ignoring the complaints of the people we jumped in front of. The inside of the building was amazing, there were three floors illuminated with purple light and jam packed with people jumping up and down to the loud music blaring out of giant speakers spread out around the floors.
"Where did you get the ID's?" I shouted over the music.
"Hermes, but don't tell your parents, your other parents, as they don't know that he deals in fake ID's and they would definitely flip if they learnt that he had given you one." I guess I have two reasons to thank him now, I thought to myself as Iris dragged me to the dance floor.
I finally got back to camp and it was late. As in early-late. I walked slowly up to my cabin, enjoying the cool breeze after being in a hot club for the last few hours.
"You're back." A voice said behind me and I turned to find Chiron there with his arms folded across his chest and one eyebrow raised. I looked guiltily at the floor, realising that he had been staying up waiting for me to get back. Even though it wasn't a question I felt compelled to answer
"yeah." Was the best thing that I could come up with. Obviously, this wasn't enough of an answer because his eyebrow rose even higher and I almost lost it in his hair. "It's quite late I didn't expect anyone to still be up."
"I was waiting up for Dionysus." He said causing me to frown, he wasn't back yet? Well, I guess he did like a good party. "When you came back at half three in the morning, I decided to see what you had to say for yourself." Chiron was kind of like an uncle, I'm not going to say he's like a father because Olympus know I have enough of them, and after tonight they aren't my favourite people.
"I'm sorry, it's just that after the party Iris decided that she was going to drag me to a club and well, I guess I just got carried away and didn't realise what time it was." I said quickly. I looked up to see Chiron sigh and smile slightly whilst shaking his head.
"I guess that you kind of have an excuse to celebrate today." Chiron grudgingly admitted. "But just don't keep me up this late worrying about you again." He said chuckling whilst ruffling my hair playfully.
"I thought you said you were staying up for my dad." I said with a smug smile on my face.
"I think he's old enough to look after himself, you on the other hand, I have to keep a look out for. Now go to bed." He said whilst pointing in the direction of my cabin faking being serious.
"Yes sir." I said whilst saluting and trying to keep a straight face.
The next morning I woke up with a giant smile on my face, I got to tell the others what goddess I was. I literally skipped to breakfast; everybody else was already there as I had slept in due to staying up pretty late. I stopped in the middle of the area, everyone was looking at me with shocked faces, they hadn't expected me to come back, except for Dionysus and Chiron who were smiling encouragingly at me.
"Hey guys." I said smiling cheerfully. "Thank you for last night it was great. Now I'm pretty sure that you guys are probably asking yourselves why on earth I am here . . . And I'm afraid that you are going to be stuck with me for a while because I decided to be the goddess of heroes and training." I finished the last bit quickly, kind of afraid of what they would think. I didn't want them to hate my decision and then be stuck with me forever. I looked around, scanning their faces which were still stuck on shocked at the moment, but I sighed in relief when the first smiles started breaking out on their faces as the news sunk in. Before I could say anything else I was suddenly tackled into a hug from Annabeth, which soon turned into a giant group hug as everyone else followed. I smiled and didn't even mind that I couldn't breathe properly.
When I was finally released from the bone crushing hug, I grudgingly made my way over to the Artemis table, I didn't want to have to sit by myself.
"Actually Izzy," Dionysus interrupted me before I got to the table. "Now that you're a goddess in your own right you can sit at this table up here with us." He said beckoning me over. A grin spread over my face, I felt like I was growing up and moving forward as I sat down on a chair that Dionysus had pulled out of the air. I would never have to sit by myself again!
After breakfast, I didn't quite know what to do and just sort of stood in the dining area feeling lost. I wasn't sure if I was meant to go to class or not, I mean they were for demigods and I was no longer one of them. Chiron quickly came to my rescue.
"I was thinking that maybe you could go and supervise some of the classes and keep an eye on everyone." He said gesturing for me to head off to the climbing wall.
I happily skipped off to join the Aphrodite and Ares kids at the wall, smiling slightly to myself to see the familiar sight of the Aphrodite girls sitting around gossiping and the Ares kids getting in a fight. I was about to tell them to get their butts up the wall or I'd soak them, but Sophia, an Aphrodite girl came running up to me before I could.
"OMG! You are on the front cover of The God, The Bad and The Ugly! You hooked up with Connor, the god of Volcanoes? Why didn't you tell us?" She squealed, brandishing a colourful magazine in front of my face but pulling it back and hitting me with it before I could glimpse more than two silhouettes holding hands. "He is so hot! You're so lucky! The magazine even has a name for you two, they're calling you Cozzy! Isn't that cute? Mum even commented on you. Listen to this 'I love the beginnings of relationships! The nerves, the awkwardness to show affection, all of it is so cute and I can't wait to sink my teeth into this couple.'" Oh gods! Aphrodite was going to meddle, I probably should have expected that but it just didn't cross my mind. We were like new toys to her, this was like her birthday and Christmas presents wrapped into one.
My mouth was just hanging open uselessly as she kept babbling on, but by now others had overheard our conversation and had come over to investigate. No, investigate wasn't the right word, more like interrogate! I was surrounded by girls asking question after question but not waiting for an answer before asking the next.
I eventually managed to break free from the horde, using my control over air to push them out of the way and make a gap for my escape. When I was out I held up my hands in a mixture of 'I don't know, leave me alone!' and surrender, Aphrodite girls have been known to be brutal when it came to extracting gossip from unwilling victims. It had even been rumoured that they managed to crack Chiron into spilling some gossip.
"This is not the time to grill me about my personal life. Now get up that wall!" I demanded, trying to distract them. It obviously didn't work as they all just looked at me incredulously with one eyebrow raised. I really need to work on being more authoritative. "Get up that wall now or I'll get your hair wet." I threatened, knowing that would make them move. I was right, some of them whimpered in fright and jumped away from me like I had some infectious disease but others were just eyeing me trying to judge if I would really follow through with my threat. With an evil smirk I made a ball of water appear, hovering just above my palm, ready to throw if I needed to. They seemed to get the message and ran to the wall, scaling it as fast as they could. Chuckling I turned to the Ares kids, I knew I couldn't scare them with a little water but I didn't have to, they were already making their way over to the wall, making bets amongst themselves on who was going to win.
Luckily, the Aphrodite girls didn't have time to come back down and quiz me further on my night because they had to go to the stables and the Pegasus' didn't like to be kept waiting. Relieved, I made my way to the arena to help with sword fighting, only to have it quickly replaced by unease when I saw that it was the Hermes group and I was taking Luke. I still wasn't sure what I was going to do about this prophecy, I mean, what could I do? Prophecies were always right, weren't they? I had no clue when the prophecy was going to take place and all I could really do for now was support and train him, hoping that he would make the right decision if I gave him enough guidance. I sighed as I walked in, trying to act normal.
"Hey guys. Chiron told me to give you guys a hand, so get your armour on and get ready. I am going to work you pretty hard today." Everyone groaned, dragging themselves to their feet and putting their armour on.
I stayed true to my word and by the end of it they were all panting and dripping in sweat. One boy, Jake Saunders, even dropped to the ground and reached forwards dramatically, gasping.
"Need . . . water!" he managed to get out, before fake dying. Jake, was a joker, he liked to be dramatic and was a pretty good actor.
"Oh! So you want water do you?" I asked smirking, before I shot freezing water at him, making him leap to his feet. I couldn't contain my laugh as water dripped from his soaking body, and he glared at me but there was a mischievous glint in his eyes that made me scared of what his revenge was going to be.
"You are really going to regret that, Olympus." He said with a smirk on his face.
"Bring it on Saunders." I joked. I saw his leg muscles tense and he slightly leaned forward, he was going to chase me. Giving him what he wanted I turned and sprinted away from him to the other end of the arena. I had to give it to him, he was quick and he was catching me up fast. I used the air to give me just a little more speed, and may have made it slow down Jake a tad.
"Oi! No cheating!" He yelled as my lead increased. As I was laughing I didn't see a set of armour lying in my path and tripped over it doing a forward roll.
"Where are your parents now?" Jake asked in a voice that was meant to sound threatening but the smile on his face, ruined the image, as he stalked closer to me with a triumphant smile. He was about to lunge and tackle me when a different voice made him jump back in alarm.
"I'm right here." Dionysus said smirking, whilst leaning against the entrance to the arena, which we were now pretty close to. A few more metres and I would have been able to make my escape to freedom. I got up brushed myself off and stuck my tongue out at Jake, who was glowering at me for getting him caught by Dionysus. I smirked at him before walking out of the arena, chanting 'I won, I won, I won' over and over in my head.
