Chapter Four

IS YOUR HEART STILL MINE?
[

Chapter Four ; A Mistake?]

Taehyung and Jungkook again met in a much simpler place, in a movie theatre, the alpha had made sure to intentionally bump into the omega.

Jungkook had waited for a week in hopes of the omega contacting him but it never happened, it'll sound crazy to say but Jungkook wanted to run to him right next day but that'll be creepy, Even for Jungkook.

The hit man should have seen the red flag right then and there, Jungkook has never been the impatient one, rather it was the other person who was waiting for Jungkook like a drug. Never the other way around.

But he ignored it, too busy in his mission to notice the difference between his past and present. Too busy wanting to be with Taehyung to see he had his goals set in the wrong direction. Too dumb to realise the tables had turned from start, now Taehyung was the drug Jungkook desperately needed.

Things were the other way around now

They had talked for sometime in front of the popcorn counter, and as the alpha had hoped Taehyung had invited him to watch along with him as the omega was alone.

Jungkook had thought Taehyung didn't enjoy horror movies but my god, it was the alpha who got more scared than Taehyung. Everything he had assumed about the photographer was proved wrong.

Don't underestimate him, Jungkook has always been great when it came to reading people. But when it comes to Taehyung… he just can't seem to, no matter how hard he tries.

Maybe that was the reason Jungkook has been the most real with him because the alpha never knew how to behave around him so he ended up just being himself.

Maybe that was the reason Jungkook has loved him, being with Taehyung somehow… made him feel alive, made him remember that life is much more than a job, much more than surviving.

Jungkook was an orphan for as long as he can remember, not every orphan gets to have a shelter over their head, not every kid without parents gets to go to an orphanage. He thinks he was born on streets and the alpha knows he grew up on streets.

If he could put food in his stomach in exchange for stabbing someone, the alpha didn't hesitate. The world is selfish and Jungkook is no saint. If he was dying on a roadside no one would come to save him so why should he feel bad for stabbing someone?

Jungkook never felt bad for a single life he took and neither would feel bad for it in future, that's not how he grew up. For him, life has always been a job, just a way to survive and keep going.

Every person he smiled at, every single person he kissed, every person he slept with, it was for his job. It all was a job.

Nothing more nothing less.

But with Taehyung… It never felt like work, Being with Taehyung was never a job. It was always fun to be with him, that perhaps is the reason why it took so much time to carry out the assassin.

Jungkook had given himself 3 months, had told himself that he'll kill Taehyuk within the said time and move on. The less time you are with the people the less attached you become with them, the alpha knew that but Jungkook couldn't. He simply couldn't leave the omega.

The alpha was with him for above a year, always giving himself excuses after excuses to stay with the omega. Even intentionally missing the chances to meet his father just so he could stay with Taehyung longer than needed.

If it was possible, The alpha would have tried to stay Even longer but there's only little time he can borrow before his clients to start pressuring for the job to be done.

So when Jungkook had to choose between the job which kept him alive for all these years or a boy he didn't know for longer than 1 year and some months. He knew his answer.

At that time, the answer was clear.

He should Kīll Taehyuk and collect his money from his client, pack his bags and leave the country and never look back. Never see Taehyung again, leave him alone for the better.

If it was anyone else, the job would have been as easy for Jungkook as sleeping is, but it was Taehyung’s father, not someone random. It wasn't easy, Jungkook had almost backed out but it was now or never and he had his answer ready didn't he?

So he did what he had to, He killed Taehyuk.

Half of his job was done now all he had to do was pack his bags and leave, it was simple. The easiest part but is it even a love story if everything went along the plan?

Taehyung finding out who he really is wasn't in his plan, it would have been fine if he had just seen those bugs and cameras in their apartment but he had seen him kīll his father. This wasn't in his plan.

Taehyung shouldn't have seen him do that, he shouldn't have seen the monster Jungkook truly is.

Maybe it was good now that the omega wouldn't be looking for a closure, he wouldn't be wondering where Jungkook disappeared.

But that was if he was alive. Jungkook couldn't leave him alive, it was too much risk, leaving a witness alive wasn't the most ideal thing to do.

But that's exactly what he did, he let The omega go, it was dumb he knows. Taehyung could open his mouth and tell everyone who the culprit is, he could rat him out and truthfully the omega had every reason too.

Hence, Jungkook even had his gun pressed against him. Every intention of pulling the trigger and ending his life. Jungkook had always kept his records clean, no evidence behind but just an image of Taehyung in a pool of his own blood made Jungkook’s chest tight.

He could live with the knowledge that Tae was alive, maybe happy in someone else's arms but still alive. He could live with that information but the fact is that he is living in a world where Taehyung doesn't exist.

It was… it was too much for him.

So when the time came to pull the trigger, Jungkook turned his hand the other way. Shooting the full size mirror instead. He kept shooting till all the bullets from the chamber were out.

Eyes screwed shut as tears fell from his eyes.

Taehyung had fainted from the shock, it had given him a perfect opportunity to run away all while chanting in his mind about how he had made the right choice.

He left Taehyung for the better, he decided to stand firmly on his decision no matter how much his heart screamed at him to go back to the male.

He knew his decision was right.

But now… he's not sure anymore, Actually he wasn't sure right after he left. His brain told him he made the right decision but then his heart told some other story. For one year he tried his best to ignore the certain omega, acting like he didn't exist.

Every time the omega came in front of him through articles or news channels, Jungkook looked the other way, changed the channel just so he doesn't have to hear the vile things they said about his Taehyung.

No, not his. Taehyung wasn't his anymore. He never was, It was dumb of Jungkook to believe otherwise.

The male probably hates him now, why is he even bothering, he needs to move on and luckily He had gotten another mission, in Rome, perfect for him.

The job needed him for a year and Jungkook took it without a second thought. Whatever could keep his mind away from the most beautiful omega he has ever come across. He thought in this one year he'll forget about him, move on with his life.

But that wasn't the case.

The farther the Alpha ran away from Taehyung the more he haunted him in his dreams, the harder it became for Jungkook. As I said, the tables had turned.

Now Taehyung was the drug Jungkook desperately needed to stay alive, he was like an addict trying to break free from their addiction.

And just like most of the addicts, Jungkook ended up giving in by the end of the year, he came back to Seoul in hopes of Seeing a glimpse of Taehyung in the flesh.

That's all he wanted, just to see Taehyung for one last time, just to prove himself that the omega had moved on, he found someone else and is happy with them, that's all that he'd need in order to move on, just a closure.

But instead he found nothing, Taehyung wasn't there. He left the country.

To where?

He doesn't know neither did anyone else. Jungkook tried to search for him like crazy but came up with nothing. At last, he considered it a sign from God, the one up there telling him to leave the male alone.

So Jungkook did, thinking that's what was returned in their destiny.

But now he doesn't know.

He has absolutely no idea what the person up there wants him to do, what's the point of making him meet Taehyung again? After 6 years? Out of all the places right here, in the city of love.

In the city of paris.

Maybe he did know why, to give him his closure. In these 6 years there rarely has been a day where Jungkook hasn't wondered what Taehyung is up to, what he is doing?

Is he still a photographer? Judging by the fact he hasn't been to any major events, the omega probably haven't, does that mean he got his dream job.

Is Taehyung a florist now?

Just like how he wanted, with a partner who loves him and a little — no lots of little kids who came out as a result of their love. Even though the thought of someone else being on the receiving end of his smile makes Jungkook’s heart ache with pain.

He's still happy for the omega, in that way it'll be clear that the omega has moved on, moved on from his father's death, moved on from the pain he caused and moved on from……  Jungkook’s love.

It's fine though, it really is. Taehyung is happy right? Then it's all okay… Jungkook would live his life knowing that the omega is happy in his life, at least one of them has found their love.

While Jungkook?? Well, he has always been the unlucky one when it came to love anyway.

Deprived of mother's love, deprived of Father's love, siblings love. Unaware of what friendship really is like, how does it feel to just joke around? Pulling pranks on each other? Roasting the third one while giggling with the others.

How does it feel getting teased for having a crush by friends?? He doesn't know. Never had the luxury of a normal life, a student's life, a college life. The childish “Loml” you find in your high school times.

He never has truly known what the feeling of being in love is like. The only time he got to have the taste of love, he let it go.

Stupidly, idiotically.

He just let him go, just like that. To say he regretted it, it'll be an underestimate.

Jungkook never expected to see him again but then he saw him in Paris, in the most unexpected place, in a grocery shop. The alpha at first thought, he was hallucinating. There's no way the male is right here, standing a few feets away from him.

Out of all the places he tried to search for him, the omega was in the city of love, in Paris. Now that he thinks about it makes sense, the omega has always told he loved Paris and enjoyed being there.

The omega have Even learned French and would always use different names on Jungkook.  Of course he has to act as if he hasn't learned the language so it took the fun out of it but Jungkook still loved acting as if he didn't know what Taehyung meant.

Jungkook has been here for the last 1 year, working on a high profile case. It's the longest case till now if you ignore Taehyuk’s. The alpha never gives more than 6 months to a client but something about Paris called for him so he ended up taking it.

Now it makes sense why the one up there really likes to play with their fates. The male was right under his nose but he couldn't see him.

When he finally accepted that yes, indeed The omega was here, breathing the same air as him. A rush of happiness filled his veins, it was the same feeling of a thirsty man finding a lake in the middle of the desert.

The very first thought that first came to his mind was to run towards Taehyung but then he held it in.

The alpha didn't have any right to just barge in his life, not after the first time he destroyed it through and through. So Jungkook kept his head down and immediately left the store promising himself to leave him alone, the alpha wouldn't try to interfere in his life.

Yes, he'll leave the omega alone.

That's what he said himself, drilled it in his head Even but curiosity got the best of him. So the alpha ended up digging about Taehyung. Coaxing himself with sentences like he just wanted to make sure the omega was happy and okay.

And he wouldn't try to pull any stunts no matter what. He didn't have any alternative motive, just a final confirmation mark that the omega had moved on and he truly utterly hates him.

Maybe that's all that he needs in order to move on.

Now that he thinks about it, he probably shouldn't have. It would have been better for his heart and mind if he hadn't. Though this quote is half, it's true nonetheless.

Curiosity kills the cat. The information fucked him upside down.

He found out the omega was single, has been from the last 6 years, never dated anyone after Jungkook. It was the total opposite of what he expected or rather hoped.

Now it left his heart in total chaos, it opened a door to the thoughts he never dared to entertain Even in his head. Now the possibility of the omega still loving him started to dominate his mind.

It's dumb he knows, why would Taehyung love someone who killed his father? But his mind refused to accept it, refusing all his antics.

Wanting to be with the omega or at least let him know about the possibility of them being together increased when it really shouldn't have. That's what he had promised himself, told himself but when has he been able to take the right decision when it came to Taehyung?

So he took another stupid decision, when Taehyung had fainted he said three words. At that time too, Jungkook had replied to the unconscious omega. Maybe it wouldn't hurt to reply once again? When the male is conscious.

So Jungkook gave his reply with a tulip and a small piece of paper. He didn't wait to see his reply or if I phrase it better. He couldn't wait and see his reaction, till now he could accept that Taehyung hates him but to actually see that face to face. No, that'll be too much for him to handle so he left.

Again, like a coward.

Maybe he should have, then he wouldn't have been over thinking like this, wouldn't have been cursing at himself for acting like a total creep. He wouldn't be sitting here, in this stupid park having a whole existential crisis.

He ignored it before but now the new possibility of him having  long distance relationship or something like that started invading his mind but his stupid heart and brain decided to ignore that possibility at that time. Now it was haunting him down.

Maybe he shouldn't have done it, maybe he made a mistake.
