Part 10: When Governments Whisper, People Tremble

Conspiracy theories feed paranoia, and everyone will nod yes, because the world is paranoid, whole nations are distrustful and with good reasoning. We the people of the United States of America have a healthy distrust of governments, thus the land of the free tries to stay free. The US should say that it is kind of free. Our freedom is limited to the boundaries set in the law of the land. We are a nation of regulations, and we have certain decrees found in the Bill of Rights that guarantee a few freedoms, and we will fight tooth-and-nail that those rights are not taken from us, because they are the only freedoms that are immutable.
Governments have unrestrained will, and they lie; they cheat, steal, and murder; so our distrust of them is a healthy one. Carl G. Jung believed that humans, via collective unconsciousness, are imprinted with certain fears; snakes, spiders, darkness, and I would have a fear of those who lord it over us. So, paranoia is built in. It could then be said that conspiracies are a healthy byproduct of that distrust, insane or not. No one has confidence in those who whisper and with good reasoning, because they most likely are conspiring to do something evil, otherwise they would not whisper, and when the government whispers the people tremble.
