"Run, and don't look back"
A/N: GUESS WHO'S BACK, BACK AGAIN?!
.....
Megamo's POV
"You know, it's risky," Ao told me as we speed walked through the halls of Akademi high and to the room info-chan supposedly resided in. I didn't pay any attention to my friend's words, because the only thing on my mind was to save Y/N, my friend, my vice, and my crush whorightnowwasmoreofanobsessionofmine.
"Stop ignoring me!" Ao exclaimed, "I've heard stuff about this 'info-chan' she isn't trustworthy!". I stopped in my tracks, wondering if I had made the right choice after all. I contemplated whether on not I should continue the short walk to help, or wing it and try find Y/N on my own. It was quite a debate that I had in my own head, this was the first time I was ever accepting help, and that too from a very sketchy source. However, my feelings towards the kidnapped girl was greater than my logic and arrogance, and so, I told Ao we'd keep going forward. He simply bit his lip, but didn't protest, Y/N's kidnapping had been hard on him too, so he understood.
It was a very brisk walk to this supposedly secret room, my dad had sent me information on it's location. I didn't know how he had it, but I assumed it had something to with his time as a student at Akademi. The room was located in the northern wing of the third floor. The doors were tall and dark, unlike those of all the other rooms in the school and I was shocked that I had never noticed this room before. There was a sign just above the doors labelled 'the info club' it appeared old and tattered, as if nobody had bothered cleaning or looking after it. Ao tapped me on the shoulder, and when I looked at him, he pointed towards a security camera that was focused on us. I bit my lip in thought, I was certain that I hadn't issued the student council to place a camera in this particular location.
Knowing what I'd heard of the mysterious girl, she'd probably seen the pair of us on the security camera and was waiting to see what we'd do. Out of sheer curiosity, I peeked through the windows looking into the room, they were covered by curtains but there was some gaps in between. My friend followed my lead and located a space to look through. We were both flabbergasted at what we saw. There was no light in the room other than the glow of computer monitors, I could view nothing else but the dark outline of a swivel chair and a person sitting in it directly in front of a six screen monitor. The silence was broken by a voice, the voice of the mystery person: "I know you're there. Run along now. There's nothing for you to see here".
I was taken aback and pulled away, as did Ao. He turned to me, "That's info chan alright. Want me to break down her door?" he whispered to me.
I shook my head without really looking at him and took a deep breath. "Info Chan?" I said, though I never got an answer. I tried again, "I am the son of Mr. Ichirou Saikou, I only want to talk, please can you come out?".
Silence, no response. I felt defeated, and was about to turn away, when the doors before us opened up. There stood a girl in the Akademi high uniform who I had never seen before, she had short, fiery red hair that definitely wasn't natural, and red rimmed glasses. Her eyes were fascinating, a brownish-red color that were surrounded by black circles, she was unnaturally pale, probably from sitting in that dark room all day.
We were silent for a while. This girl who was presumably info-chan was observing us like a predator watching their prey. My student enforcer and I stood side by side, also staring at the girl, but more like folks in a museum looking at a rare artifact or statue. Finally the girl spoke, her voice came out low and soft, "Come in, and shut the door behind you". I instantly obeyed, stepping into the dark room. Ao looked conflicted, but he followed me, and closed the door behind us.
The room was indeed what we'd seen it to be from the outside. Now that we were in, I could closely make out some personal possessions, a picture frame with a little redheaded girl in it. Probably baby info-chan, I thought. I saw a small lucky cat on a small table in the corner, and that was pretty much all that was in the room. Other than a giant 6 screen monitor on a computer table and a black office swivel chair. There was a small bag resting next to the chair, and info-chan rummaged through it and pulled out a flash with some disposable cups.
"Tea?" she asked, Ao shook his head and so did I. She shrugged and poured herself some, "Suit yourself, so what do you want?".
Ao spoke up for me, "We're from the student council, and our friend and vice president-"
The girl cut him off, "Y/N L/N has gone missing yes?" she asked, holding up a newspaper with Y/N's picture and story on the front page. Just seeing her photo made my heart beat faster, and gave me the confidence I needed to ask info-chan for her help.
"Yes" I said, "we'd like your help in finding her please" I straight up said.
Info-chan seemed to look impressed I didn't beat about the bush and took a sip of her tea before setting it down. "Okay" she said, much to my surprise.
I was ready to ask her what should be done but Ao spoke up first, "What do you want in return?". Both info-chan and I looked at him, "I mean... there must be something" he added.
The red headed girl smiled softly and picked up her tea again, "The kidnapping partly took place due to a colleague of mine," she began, "we don't get along well now, and I want him caught. Which is why I will help you without taking anything other than his arrest for myself. Go home Megamo Saikou, I'll text you".
I was even more shocked to hear the real motives she had for helping us. I wanted to punch her for associating with someone who was responsible for Y/N's abduction. Why didn't she come to us with information on Y/N at once? Why did she only want this guy arrested now? I had so many questions, and no answers, but finding Y/N was my top priority right now. And I needed her help.
"Please," I begged, "Anything you can do", and she nodded and waved her hand in goodbye, signaling that she was done conversing with us. I was not used to being dismissed, but I had been putting my pride aside a lot recently, so I did it once again.
I turned to walk out of the room, Ao hot on my heels. We walked curtly, in total silence. Both of us were in deep thought about what to do next.
Suddenly, out of nowhere, a voice cried out behind me, "Megamo, Ao, wait!"
We turned, and were pleasantly surprised to be greeted with our friend and fellow student council member, Akano. His face glistened with sweat, and as he stopped right next to us, it was easy to hear his breath coming out in shallow pants. Obviously, he had ran a long way here, but why?
"Akano, I thought I told you to go home," I reprimanded lightly, crossing my arms when the redhead only smiled apologetically, before his face completely changed into a serious expression.
"Well, instead of being useless, myself and the others decided to interrogate people around Y/N's house because the police weren't doing their job as usual," he scowled.
"Did you find anything?" Ao asked.
"Duh, that's why I'm here!" Akano replied in an elated tone, "We asked around the area, and finally reached Raibaru Fumetsu, she goes here and lives right next to the house that is exactly opposite to Y/N's!"
My eyes were as wide as saucers as I firmly gripped the boys shoulders once he was done narrating, "WHAT DID SHE SAY?!" I screamed, so loudly I was certain even passerbys outside the school were able to hear me.
Akano shook his head at my craziness and pulled away, "She said that she saw Ayato Aishi exiting Y/N's just a few minutes after she texted you... he was lugging a cello case belonging to Akademi high with him"
I stepped back, not at all surprised at this, but even more concerned than I previously was. I'd suspected Ayato, but I had been hoping my suspicions wouldn't be true.
"Ayato Aishi has no right to access a cello case... as far as I know, he has no clubs where he might need the instrument" Ao whispered to nobody in particular.
I slowly nodded, "Where can we find him?"
My phone pinged abruptly with a message, and as I held up the flashing screen to my face, I read the text I had just gotten from an unknown number. I looked up to see Ao and Akano looking at me curiously, and I held up the phone.
"Info Chan?" Ao asked, and I nodded.
"Let's head to number 243, Nozomu boulevard, Buraza town"
Musume's POV
"Here's the plan, I've noticed he leaves the basement door open for a minute or so after he comes in here to undo the restraints so we can eat, in that one minute, he prepares to bring us our meal. While he's distracted in the kitchen, we go up the stairs and quietly slip out the door," Y/N finished explaining her plan.
I shook my head, "Y/N it's a simple plan, and it seems easy enough, but there's so many things that could go wrong, like, what if the door upstairs is locked, what if he sees us before we even make it there?"
Y/N nodded at my question, obviously realizing that someone who had done what Ayato Aishi had, would always do their best to ensure that their captives couldn't escape.
"Then... there must be something up there we can use to defend ourselves, just to hit him hard enough so that he gets knocked out. We won't be restrained, and we have strength because for a delusional psycho, he sure does keep us well fed," she responded.
I wasn't entirely convinced, although an escape did sound very appealing. I was silent and just staring at the ground. I was sure Y/N could sense my hesitance because she sighed before speaking up again.
"Look... we have to try our best, you and I are both desperate to get out of this hellhole, but we can't do that if we reject every single idea," she said.
Realizing that she was right, I hung my head, thinking for a few more seconds as I debated the pros and cons, ultimately nodding and looking up at Y/N with the best smile I could muster through tear filled eyes.
"Alright, let's do it" I murmured, and for the first time since we'd been trapped in here together, I saw her genuinely smile.
The door burst open all of a sudden, revealing the demented schoolboy we both hated. His eyes held a dangerous emotion in them. One I had never seen before, yet could somehow recognize as raw, untamed love, and it was all directed at Y/N. I shuddered in my seat, instantly feeling sympathy for this poor girl I once bullied relentlessly. I couldn't imagine what it must feel like to her, being in this position.
Ayato walked down the stairs, and carefully and gently undid Y/N's restraints, she flexed her wrists and ankles a bit, flinching when she felt them move after a long period of immobility. He came to me next, and was a little harsher with me, ripping my restraints off without care.
Wordlessly, he walked back up the stairs. Gone to get our meals. And we were going to get our freedom.
Y/N waited a few seconds, just to make sure he was far from the basement door, before she shot up and quietly gestured to our escape route. She took a few steps forward a winced, but bravely continued. I mirrored her actions with great pain in my limbs and my joints, but continued forward, seeing the faint light from the main floor gave me determination.
We finally got to the top of the stairs, and much to our luck, saw the entrance door right in front of us, swung wide open! It was too good to be true. How I wish I'd listened to that 'to be true'.
The light hit our eyes like a truck, it blinded us. After being locked in a dark basement for so long, it was difficult to see, but somehow we crept out through the threshold of the basement door. It was so refreshing to finally feel the gentle breeze blowing through the door.
Adrenaline suddenly flooded my body, and abandoning the plan to be cautious, I sprinted. Sprinted to get through the door. However, in doing so, I accidentally knocked over a ceramic flower pot on a table next to the door. I heard Y/N gasp, and just as I stepped out the door, I turned to see the broken shards on the pot digging into her bare feet. Watching the scene fold out made me feel victim to the mess I had made.
I watched in terror as two arms shot out and gripped Y/N's waist. I remember clearly what she screamed to me, she didn't think of herself, but of me as she exclaimed:
"Run, and don't look back!"
