It's probably the fact that most dogs I meet like me. The only two dogs I've ever been scared of in my life were just plain bad dogs who hadn't been socialized very well as puppies. But they never bit me, and I managed to be brave enough to pet them at least once despite the risk of being bit, so that's something.
