Chapter No 5: Care
Abhira looked at him, her eyes clouded with furry.
Armaan.
She called out, her voice carrying a hint of furry, barely hiding the concern that lingered beneath the surface.
Kya?
He asked raising an eyebrow. Abhira looked at him, her mouth half opened in shock.
Tum apna khayal nahin rakh sakte kya?
She semi yelled at him, her concern and irritation evident in her tone.
Armaan looked at her gasping. He was taken aback by her care and the way she was concerned for him, he gazed at her, an unknown emotion flooding through him that left him puzzled. He looked at her feeling a lump form in his throat. The world around him blurred into insignificance, his world narrowed down to the girl standing in front of him, the other noises blurring into the background. His eyes welled up with a delicate sheen of tears but he blinked his tears back, gulping softly, deeply touched by her care and concern.
Armaan.
She let out a semi yell of his name tugging him out of his thoughts.
Huh!!!
He looked at her startled.
Abhira looked at him, a flicker of disbelief crossing her face as she gazed at him.
Are you for real?
She asked, her voice trembling with a hint of disbelief.
He blinked his eyes, still a little dazed.
Main dant rahi hoon tumhein aur tum sun bhi rahe ho ke nahin.
Abhira said, her voice carrying a hint of concern and she held his hand guilding him towards the room while Armaan looked at her, gulping softly as a tear trailed down his cheek, his heart swelling with emotion.
As Abhira made him lay on the bed, Armaan gasped, a shiver raced down his spine as the sheets beneath his form felt cold but he chose to stay silent.
Abhira, as if understanding his silent words, reached out, her fingers trembled as she carefully covered him with the quilt.
She looked at Armaan, her eyes softening as she spoke
Main aati hoon.
She was able to go but stopped feeling a tug on her hand, her heart skipped a beat and she turned.
Armaan looked at her, a silent plea etched into his eyes as he tugged on her hand.
Stay.
He said, his voice pleading with the depth of his emotions.
She looked at him, her heart cracking at his vulnerability and she blinked back tears.
Main kahin nahin ja rahi.
She said, her voice soft.
Bas abhi aayi.
She said, her eyes laced with a mixture of tenderness and sincarity.
He held onto her hand and could sense the sincarity in her words, a flicker of vulnerability crossed his face and he hesitantly left her hand. She looked at him for a moment and left the room.
As Armaan layed there, exhaustion clung to him like a second skin. A sense of vulnerability crashed over him with crushing weight and he gripped the bedsheets as a sharp gasp tore from his lips, his shoulders now want stiff from tension. The darkness closing him in, his throat sore and he closed his eyes pleading for the gentle embrace of sleep.
It felt like infinity.
Until he felt a touch, though it felt slightly cool but comforting.
Abhira.
His heart recognized the touch instantly as she gently massaged his forehead, her touch soothing, her fingers moved forward his hair, running through the silky strands, her touch comforting and he allowed his eyes to flutter close basking into the warmth of her care.
She ran her fingers through his dark brown locks, her fingers slipping through the strands, her touch tender, occasionally scratching his scalp.
Armaan,s blinked his eyes, forcing them open and gulped softly, his eyes locked onto hers and he let out a gentle sigh before forcing a smile on his face, trying to hide the exhaustion, vulnerability and frustration that washed over him in waves.
As she continued to caress his hair, her touch gentle. His eyes fluttered close, the headache started to fade, a sense of calm washed over him despite the discomfort.
He couldn't help but reach out, holding her hand, his fingers trembling from the effort and he watched her tremble under his touch.
Shayad heat ki wajah se.
He thought. He let out a small smile and said, his voice fragile but filled with gratitude
Thank You.
She looked at him, blinking her eyes as if someone has slapped her hard, her eyes laced with shock. Soon her shock faded into pain which she quickly masked, understanding his state of mind.
His eyes fluttered close, the exhaustion finally catching up at him, his grip on her hand loosened as sleep embraced him.
She touched his forehead and her heart sank, her eyes looking at his pale form with worry.
Fever zyada hai.
She said and stood up from the bed, her protectiveness kicking in and she hurried out of the room.
Abhira entered inside the kitchen and grabbed a damp towal from the counter and filled a bowl with cold water.
Armaan ki fikr kerne ka natak kab tak karogi tum.
Furry clouded Abhira,s eyes and she looked at Ruhi but she quickly composed herself and spoke
Kya hai na Ruhi jo khud jaisa hota hai usko samne wala bhi waisa hu dikhta hai.
Abhira said with a sarcastic smile and attempted to walk past but Ruhi blocked her way.
How dare you?
Ruhi said though gritted teeth, her irritation evident.
Excuse me.
Abhira said with a wave of her hand and left from there leaving Ruhi stunned.
Abhira.
Armaan called out, his voice caressed with sleep as he reached out blindly in search of her.
I'm here Armaan.
Abhira said softly, a smile playing on her face.
Armaan opened his eyes, still sleepy.
I thought you left.
He said, his voice sleepy but soft, his eyes reflecting a vulnerability that tugged at her heart.
She reached out and caressed his hair, running her fingers through the silky strands, her touch tender.
Main kyun jaogi tumhein chor ke.
She said, her voice trembling with emotion. She felt her heart crack open at his words.
The words washed over her in cold waves leaving her trembling and gasping. Her heart ached with the weight of his vulnerability and unspoken pain. Tears clouded her eyes and she struggled to blink them away.
She swallowed hard and reached out for the damp towal with trembling hands and dipped it into the water.
She cleaned his forehead, cheeks and neck and watched him tremble because the damp towel felt cool against his overly heated skin and her heart ached.
A mixture of tenderness and affection overwhelmed her as she tended to him, brushing the damp towal against his cheeks, neck and forehead. Each brush of the damp towal against his skin was slow and careful, laced with a an exquisite sense of care that made him feel overwhelmed with emotion.
Hours passed, the night seemed to stretch on endlessly, her head ached and sleep tugged at her eyelids but she couldn't sleep, her head ached from the stress but she seemed to care less.
As she continued her work, her eyes scanned his pale form for any signs of discomfort but got none. After sometime, she watched him, his barely rose and fell and he groaned softly, a flicker of discomfort crossing his face probably because of the pain.
Her heart ached at the thought and she held his hand tightly, caressing the back of his palm with a tender touch.
She leaned forward and looked at him, unable to steer her eyes away from him and slowly started to inhale and exhale in the same pattern, trying to match his rhythm of breathing but it didn't fill her lungs properly.
