Chapter No 10: True Happiness

Sachi khushi kya hoti hai aur kahan milti hai?

Armaan stared at the stormy clouds gathering overheard as he stood inside the mandir. A wave of uncertainty crashed over him as he joined his hands and closed his eyes

Not today please.

He prayed under his breath. Today was the death anniversary of his mother Shivani, a mother he wasn't able to cry for, a mother who loved him unconditionally. Every year, Armaan would light several oil lamps on this day. It was a  ritual he did every year since he had grown old enough to understand.

He was dressed in white, a color Madhav told that his mother loved because she considered white as a symbol of purity.

Abhira stared at him and reached out to hold his arm.

Kya soch rahe ho?

She asked, her voice gentle but laced with concern.

Armaan smiled feeling a small wave of relief wash over him and looked at her softly. She was also dressed in white, the net dupatta was draped over her head, her eyes gentle but filled with concern stared at him as if trying to read him.

He looked at her and said firmly, his heart pounding in his ears like a wild drum

I'm going to complete the task.

Armaan said determined as he stared up ahead at the pouring clouds. The drops of rain made him blink repidly, a hand covering his eyes. There was still a handful of oil lamps left for him to light and the rain along with the cold wind were making it an impossible task.

Abhira,s heart pounded in her ears as she watched his determination. A mixture of fear and admiration flooded through her.

She looked at him then and breathed. She wrapped her arms around herself. A sense of worry gnawed at her insides and she looked around, her eyes scanning the space for something to shield themselves from the suddenly pouring rain. Her eyes landed over an umbrella placed against a wall and she rushed forward to hold it.

Armaan was determined. Sending a silent prayer to the GOD, he breathed deeply and moved to complete the task at hand. The lamps flickered and he bent down and cupped the lamps to ensure that the breeze doesn't extinguish their it's light.

Suddenly he looked up upon not feeling the rain pouring over him and he stood, the sudden absence of the raindrops sent a sharp chill down his spine as his wet clothes clung to him.

She held onto his hand, her touch warm against his cold hand as she ensured that they weren't troubled by the raindrops anymore.

The umbrella shook by the new stream of water pouring over. He stared at her, her face flushed and droplets of water clung to her lashes. His heart pounded as he reached out, keeping his hand over hers seeking more of her warmth. Their hands remained close, fingers brushing as he smiled into her eyes.

She raised an eyebrow and tilted her head slightly, the umbrella shaking with a new stream of water, smiling into his eyes, her voice, a gentle nudge as she spoke

Chalo task complete ker ke chalte hain. Warna bimar ho jayenge.

Armaan smiled at the warmth in her tone, her voice was gentle but laced with a care that made his heart swell.

Despite the chill, he felt a sense of warmth enveloping him in a comforting embrace.

Once they completed the task. He looked up at her, fingers brushing against hers sending shivers racing down through them both.

As they stood with hands folded, their eyes closed in prayer, their heartbeat syncing with each other's.

Armaan,s eyes fluttered open and he tilted his head to the side, his eyes staring at her side profile with his heart full.

As she turned to look at him, the world seemed to stop, they shared a look, a smile and a gentle blink of eyes in silent understanding.

In that moment, eyes seemed to speak louder than words ever could. A silent conversation passed between them and eyes crinkled at the edges, brimming with delight and an unknown emotion.

Thank you.

Armaan spoke, his voice barely above a whisper, his gentle eyes smiling into hers as his heart swelled with emotion.

Abhira,s heart skipped a beat, a wave of emotion washed over her, her eyes smiling into his as she spoke lifting an eyebrow

Kyun?

She asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Armaan smiled, a wave of emotion washed over him. His heart swelling with a sense of tenderness and an emotion he couldn't quite place, his hand reaching out to hers, tenderly grazing her fingers.

Mere sath aane ke liye.

He said, his voice shaking with emotion.

Abhira,s heart ached and she stared at him from under her lashes, the rain pouring outside was intense and she held his hand taking a slow shaky breath.

Maine kaha tha ke main aaungi.

She said, her voice tender.

And it was about your mother.

She said staring into his eyes deeply, holding onto the umbrella. They were standing close enough to feel each other,s breathes.

She held his gaze and spoke softly

Jo ke meri bhi kuch lagti hain.

Armaan held her gaze, his heart skipping a beat and he felt a warmth spreading through him.

Tumhari maa meri bhi maa hui na?

There was an open hearted sincarity in her words, her tone was way gentle as she spoke, as if telling this to a kid.

He smiled into her eyes, the shaky but gentle curve of his lips speaking more then words ever could.

A wave of warmth washed over him, his heart swelled with an overwhelming emotion as her words sank in, he gazed at her, his eyes brimming with a mixture of gratitude and disbelief.

Locking his fingers around hers, he gazed deeply into her eyes, his heart pounding as he spoke, his voice shaky.

Thank you.

His hold around her hand tightened and he gulped softly.

For being here.

Abhira smiled as they stepped out of the mandir, walking down the flight of stairs, she gazed at his smiling face, her eyes soft with love.

Abhira.

Armaan called out softly and she turned to look at him and raised an eyebrow.

Kya?

She asked softly and they they rushed forward, stumbling over as the rain intensified.

She heaved out a breath and looked at him lifting her lashes. Standing under a small shelter, she tilted her head to the side and gazed at his side profile.

Ab poocho.

She said softly.

He looked at her, their eyes locked.

Sachi khushi kya hoti hai aur kahan milti hai?

He asked, his voice laced with curiosity.

She looked at him, a gentle smile playing on her lips.

Sachi khushi toh humare samne hoti hai bas dekhne ka nazariya hona chahiye.

She said, her tone gentle.

He lifted his eyes and held her gaze, his eyes wide with curiosity.

Kaise?

He asked curiously.

She loosened her grip, the umbrella falling on the ground.

Armaan gasped, the sudden stream of rain pouring over him sent a sharp chill down his spine.

He looked at her, his lips parting in disbelief.

Yeh kya kiya?

He asked, his voice trembling slightly.

She held his hand and smiled softly at him, her eyes soft.

Chalo asli khushi dikhati hoon tumhein.

She said and he looked at her in disbelief.

Aise?

She stood behind him, her warm breath whispering against his ear sending a delicate shiver down his spine.

Ankhein band ker ke hath aage barhao.

Armaan closed his eyes, his heart pounding wildly in his ears, the warmth of her breath sending shivers down his spine and he extended his hand out.

As he felt the raindrops over his extended palm, his lips carved into a gentle smile.

Now take a deep breath and sari worries bhool jao.

Armaan,s smile deepened hearing her. He took a deep, calming breath, his eyes closing as a sense of relief enveloped him in a comforting embrace.

Armaan.

Abhira,s voice reached his ears and his eyes fluttered open, his heart skipped a beat before starting to race like a bullet train. In that moment, every worry, every tension seemed to fade, replaced by a sense of calmness that almost scared him but as he looked at her, allowing her face to fill his vision, his smile deepened.

She had extended out a hand for him to hold, her smile warm as she said in a questioning manner.

Dance?

Armaan smiled reaching out to hold her hand, her hand was warm against his and she clenched his shoulders, holding tightly.

Armaan smiled softly, a mixture of joy and warmth flooded through him as he twirled her around. The world around them seemed to blur into insignificance leaving only the two of them in their own bubble.

As she came back into his arms with a spin, their eyes locked, a mixture of warmth and delight reflecting in their eyes as they held each other,s gaze.

In that moment, Armaan,s heart trembled in his chest as Abhira cupped his face, fingers stroking his cheeks tenderly and as Armaan gazed deeply into her eyes, he smiled softly, feeling his heart swell with emotion.

Armaan,s breath trembled out. His heart raced with a mixture of hesitation and longing as he reached out gently cupping her face, his touch tender as he stroked her cheeks and pulled her closer, his arms snacking around her petite frame pulling her into a warm embrace, his eyes fluttered close as a wave of comfort washed over him.

Abhira,s heart raced, caught between hesitation and affection and she responded to the hug, her touch hesitant but tender  as she placed her head over his heart, her eyes closing in bliss.

Abhira.

He called out, his voice low and warm as he still held her close.

Abhira,s fingers held the back of his kurta and she hummed, the sound muffled against his kurta.

Thank you.

He said, his voice warm but laced with gratitude.

Kis liye?

She asked softly, her voice muffled against his kurta.

Mujhe sachi khushi ka matlab samjhane ke liye.

He said softly still holding her close, his arms tightening around her.

Abhira,s heart ached hearing him as she realized the depth of his hidden pain as she bit back a sob, holding it down with pain, her arms tightening around him as she held him close.
