Missing Boy

It was Thursday, the last day of middle school. My fingers were tapping anxiously on the desk in sixth period. I wanted to get out of this nut case of a school. The front office called to release the walkers and car riders, and to have a wonderful, yet safe, summer. I bolted out the front door of my language arts class. I ran to my locker to pack my separator, locker carpet, and math textbook, soon to be fire wood, into my back pack. My long, blonde hair covered my freckled face as I stuffed the crap into my bag. As I went to leave, I bumped into my friend Chris. He was about 5 foot 8, one inch shorter than me, and had dirty blonde hair that fell an inch above the eyes.

I looked at him. "Have a great summer!" Chris has been my friend since the beginning of sixth grade. We only had one class together, but we kept in touch by texting and shopping.

He smiled. "You too! Hey, after you're done with your locker, meet me out front where the big pine tree is." He walked away.

I walked out the main entrance and to the tree. I saw Chris with his hands in his pockets, pacing back and forth on his heels. I walked up to him and smiled.

            "What's up?" I questioned with a smile.

Chris just stared at me, his hazel eyes meeting with my blue eyes. Suddenly he went to say something.

"Heather, we've known each other for a while. And I..." He paused and put his hand on my cheek. My heart stared to pound at a billion miles an hour. Then the next thing you know, his lips crashed into mine. Sparks flew through my head. He leaned back at we both smiled.

"I will text you later." He said.

I saluted to him and walked toward my house.

He didn't text me that day, or the next day. I tried to text and call him, but no answer. Then I remembered I had his parents number. It was the Monday after school got out. The phone rang three times before his mother answered.

"Hi, Mrs. Jessie, is Chris there?" I asked.

Suddenly I heard Mrs. Jessie start to sob. "Chris, he hasn't been at home since Thursday morning. Chris is missing."

My heart sank. Tears started to weld in my eyes. I laid down on my bed and cried myself to sleep.
