Chapter Ten: "I hope your telling the truth."
(AN Read authors note at the end please!!)
3rd Persons POV:
Damn it!
Neji shoved his hands in his pockets and huffed as he continued to walk.
"Uh, Neji?"
He turned to his friend, Lee. Don't ask him why their friends though. He wouldn't have the slightest clue on how to answer. While Neji was cold, mostly emotionless, and easily angered. Lee was almost the complete opposite. Lee was fired up easily and would never turn down a challenge. He showed his emotions a little too much in Neji's opinion. But they were friends either way.
Neji and Lee had been stalking around the mall for about an hour now. Not really doing anything. Well, except for looking for a curtain brunette.
He had over heard, (was actually ease dropping), on a conversation between Tenten and Kankuro about their... date. Neji despised the idea of Tenten going out with that guy.
He was a transfer, so he didn't know much about the guy. Except for rumors that Kankuro had a rather large puppet collection. He also didn't like the way he looked at Tenten. With that mischievous look in his eye. But what Neji disliked most about the idea of Tenten going on a date. Was that it wasn't with him.
So, Neji had dragged Lee out to the mall where he heard their date was going to be.
"Neji. Are we here because of Tenten?" Lee asked, oblivious of the gloomy aura surrounding his friend. Neji was unsure how to answer. Not wanting Lee to know that was the exact reason they were here. So he simply shrugged his shoulders.
It seemed to only be moments when the pale eyed brunette spotted the young couple walking up to the movie theater. Neji quickly pulled Lee into the entrance of some random store in order not to be spotted.
"Neji, wha- mph!" Neji quickly clamped his hand over his friends mouth. They stood still and quiet as Tenten and Kankuro walked by. Neji's jaw clenched when he heard Tenten laughing at something Kankuro had said.
Once they were gone, Neji removed his hand from the obnoxious boys mouth. Lee gave Neji an, out of character, knowing look. The energetic teen gave an encouraging grin to the young Hyūga. "Yosh! I believe in you Neji! You and Tenten will be a great couple!" Lee punched the air. A blush scattered on his cheeks, "We can go double dates. You and Tenten, and Sakura-chan and I!"
Neji rolled his eyes at his friend. "How many times has Sakura rejected you so far, just this year?" Lee's posture dropped. "Thirty six," He answered with a defeated look. The young Hyuga shook his head in sympathy, "I hate to say this, Lee. But it's been since what, freshman year? She's not going to go out with you. She has her eyes set on Sasuke." He set a hand on Lee's shoulder. "You'll find somebody Lee. Don't worry about it."
Lee bounced back up, his attitude taking another 360 change. "Yosh! Your right Neji! And as your rival, I must find that girl soon! Before you and Tenten finally realize your feelings for each other."
Neji blinked. "Na-nani?"
"But as your best friend, I must help you." Lee's eyes set ablaze with determination. "Yosh! Let's go!"
With that, Lee marched out of the store, leaving a flustered Hyūga in his wake.

(AN Spoilers up ahead for those who haven't seen Captain America: Civil War)
"No, no, no. She's Aunt Peggy's niece. Captain's old girlfriend." Tenten whispered to the brunette sitting beside her. Kankuro shook his head, "So he just kissed her niece? Not cool." The weapon fanatic rolled her eyes and started to stand.
Kankuro gave his full attention to her. "Where you going? It's just getting good." She rolled her eyes, "Don't worry. I've seen this movie 4 times already." She started walking away barely hearing Kankuro's shocked reaction. She giggled as she left the theater and started towards the bathroom.
(A/N Spoiler over!)
'Just who does he think I am?' She thought. 'Of course I've seen the movie 4 times already. I'm obsessed with Marvel.'
Being too wrapped up in her thoughts, Tenten didn't notice the young Hyūga who snuck up behind her. She couldn't help the quiet gasp that escaped her mouth when a pair of muscular arms wrapped around her waist. She was suddenly pulled into one of the small janitorial rooms.
"Wha-what? Wha-" Tenten's voice caught in her throat when her eyes adjusted to the dark lighting. And she reconigzed just who her attacker was. Neji looked down at her with a possessive look in his eyes. Her body stiffened and questions quickly flooded her mind.
Neji had her arms pinned above her head. Pushing her up against the door with his body. Tenten found her heartbeat quickening, and the need to start to control her uneasy breathing. Tension coursed through her body. She was unable to hide the way her chest rose and fell quickly, as his gaze pinned her down.
"N-neji..." She cursed herself for stuttering. She didn't want him to know the look in his eyes was effecting her. Neji said nothing in reply. Only continued to stare at her as she tried to conjure up a sentence. "Wha- what are you doing?" She asked in a unsure tone.
He looked like he could explode at any given moment. And he was. He was practically overflowing with jealosy. Seeing them together, even if they weren't actually together, still made his blood boil. To the point where he couldn't take it. He hadn't planned on this. He followed her out of the theater thinking he could talk her into finishing her evening with him. But, looks like that just got flushed down the drain.
He stared at her. Taking in all her features. Big, beautiful brown eyes. Cute nose. The faintest trace of freckles scattered across her cheeks. Barely visable acne scars along her hair line. And her pink lips. He stared at her lips for a second as a single clear thought crossed his mind.
'I want to taste them.'
Before he could stop himself, Neji found himself kissing the beautiful teen he had pinned against the door. Tenten let out a startled gasp. Her stomach erupted in butterflies and her eyes widened. She cursed herself when she found herself actually enjoying the kiss. Enjoying the feeling of his lips on her own.
Tenten fought every screaming urge in her body telling her to kiss him back. Her hands balled into fists and her eyebrows furrowed in effort. She tried pulling her head back but was only met with the door behind her. The brunette grunted and struggled against his grasp until finally he broke the kiss.
Neji's grip started to weaken. His mind over powered by the way her lips felt against his. When he opened his eyes he was met with the shocked gaze of the teen he had pinned in front of him.
Only then did it dawn on her.
'He stole my first kiss. That bastard!'
Tenten's shocked expression then went through a series of expressions as questions and wild thoughts shot in and out of her mind at rapid speeds.
First, she was flustered. Seeing as Neji did just steal her first kiss. Along with the memory of Hinata telling her she had a crush on the boy standing in front of her.
Then, she was confused. Tenten had no idea why he had kissed her so passionately when all he had ever shown to her was annoyance and anger. She was also wondering why the hell he was there. And why/how he had just appeared out of nowhere.
Then lastly, she was furious. This boy, had just appeared out of no where, and basically kidnapped her. Then, he had the nerve to steal her first kiss. Without saying a single word before!
Tenten's body shook in anger and her eyes turned deadly. In a single attempt, she broke Neji's hold and pushed him to the floor. Pinning him down useing her arms and knees, he was quickly immobilized. He stared in shock at the furious girl hovering over him, still unable to look at him directly.
Tenten's shoulders shook with emotion. She didn't know exactly how to feel. She was still sorting out her feelings! She had only gone on the date with Kankuro cause she saw him as a new friend. But then Neji appeared and her entire afternoon was flipped upside down.
Neji, on the other hand, knew exactly how he felt. He felt angry, frustrated, and jealous. So very jealous. Seeing the girl he had such strong feelings for. Feelings that, no matter how hard he tried. He couldn't get them accross to her. Seeing that girl with another man. Made his blood boil.
He watched in stunned silence as Tenten's face contorted in frustration. Her face was flushed and she looked about ready to blow a fuse. If she hadn't already. He felt her grip on his wrists tighten and he grimaced in pain. He stared up at her, her eyes squeezed shut. As if she was trying to block out the entire world.
Taking a deep breath, Tenten slowly opened her brown hues to look into Neji's pale ones. Then, moving slower than molasses, she slowly moved her hands away from Neji's arms. Instead settled them on his chest as her eyes filled with tears.
"Why?" She muttered, her voice barely audible. Her hands clenched into fists and started to shake. Tears streamed down her cheeks, leaving salty trails behind them. Tears of frustration and confusion, and all the emotions she couldn't express with words. She pounded on his chest repeatedly. "Why! Why! Why! Why! Why! Why! W-!"
In one quick motion Neji grabbed her wrists and flipped them. He now hovered over the frustrated brunette. She struggled beneath him, hating how powerless she felt in his grasp. "Neji! Let me go! I swear I'll scream! I wi-!"
"Dammit Tenten!" Neji yelled, unable to control himself. She was stunned into silence at his sudden outburst. "You wanna know why?!" Her eyes widened and her body stiffened as her mind registered his tone of voice.
"I like you Tenten! So much that- I don't know what to do with myself! And seeing you with that guy- it made me so jealous Tenten! I was so mad! I still am jealous!" Neji stared right into Tenten's eyes. Searching for something. Anything. Watching her reaction to what he was saying.
"N-neji," Tenten didn't know what to say. Or how to respond to his outburst. While she wanted to respond and tell Neji about how she felt. She also had no other thought other to run away. To jump on her motorcycle and ride as far away as she could.
While Tenten fought with her thoughts, Neji waited patiently for her response. After a few moments, Tenten cleared her throat. "Neji, I don't think you need to have me pinned down anymore." He stared at her for a second before remembering the position they were in and quickly climbing of her.
Neji backed up until his back hit the wall oppisite to the door of the dimly lit room. Scooting into the corner, he bent one of his knees and outstretched the other. Settling his arms comfortably in front of him, he watched as Tenten settled herself into the corner right across from him, next to the door. With her knees tucked up against her chest, she hugged herself.
He had never seen her look so... vulnerable before.
They sat in silence for a few moments. Tenten's expression telling Neji that she was deep in thought. So he kept his mouth shut. He would let her decide where the conversation would go.
Finally Tenten sighed and met Neji's gaze. Her previously furious gaze replaced with one he couldn't read. She broke eye contact and stared at the wall. "Your jealous. Of Kankuro." Neji sweat dropped in spite of the situation upon hearing how Tenten had deadpanned those four words.
He gently shook his head, clearing his thoughts. "Yes." She continued to look at the wall. No reaction. Or so he could see, the dim lighting in the room making it difficult to tell. "Your jealous," she repeated, "of Kankuro." Her voice gave of a slight tone of amusement mixed with disbelief.
Neji narrowed his eyes at her. "Well when you make it sound so rediculous, it just makes me feel stupid." She snorted unattractively, "You are stupid. Baka." The corners of his lips tugged upward, forming a small smile. "Watch it Kunai, your not so smart yourself," He rolled his eyes, hoping to lighten the mood in the room.
Tenten's shoulders shook with a silent laugh. "Your not wrong about that..." She mumbled, barely loud enough for him to hear it. Neji didn't know what to say to her. He felt like he was walking on a very thin line. And if he stepped off of it, she would explode again. And that was the last thing he wanted in this situation.
"You like me, Neji?"
Neji's eyes widened at her question. She was being increadibly straightforward, and it caught him off guard. She still wouldn't look at him, so he simply accepted the fact that she probably wouldn't. Instead of thinking about that, he tried his hardest to string together words to form a sentence.
"I do," He answered in two words, that being the best he could do at the moment. He stared at her figure, waiting for her response. But it never came.
Finally, after what seemed like years to Neji, Tenten stood up, walked to the door, opened it, walked out. And right as she was about to close the door she said six words.
"I hope your telling the truth."
