Chaos Unleashed
Lydia marched downstairs in her bright, poofy yellow dress. A gigantic smile on her face, you couldn't exactly call it fake. Lydia was happy, really happy that she was finally going to make her dad pay for what he's done.
"Hey there!" She announced, marching down the stairs. Her father made eye contact with her, a smile appeared on his face.
"Lydia you look...beautiful." Charles couldn't help but feel his heart sadden, he really did believe she looked amazing. It reminded him of Emily and it hurt too much, the resemblance of Lydia and Emily was unbelievable. He snapped out of it, going back to his cheery demeanor.
"Mhm! Thought I would stop moping around and join you all for dinner!" She walked to the seat next to her dad and stood there, looking up at him.
"Oh um, Maxie! This is my daughter, Lydia."
"She really is a sight for sore eyes, why haven't I heard of her before? Too scared I'll marry her?!" Maxie exclaimed, the room erupted with laughter before it was silence once again. Maxie smirked at Lydia and looked her up and down, Lydia felt pretty uncomfortable.
"I might." Maxie stated, Charles pulled Lydia closer to himself. After that statement he didn't want his child anywhere near his business partner. Maxie let out a loud chuckle, laying his hands on his stomach.
"Let's get this started, shall we?" He asked, taking a seat. Charles nodded, him and Lydia sitting down for themselves. Lydia gave the two ghosts on the stairs a look as Delia stayed standing. Delia lightly hit her glass with a fork, asking for the attention to be put onto her.
"Business friends!" She began, "I have only known this amazing, amazing man and his unique daughter for a few months. I don't even know how many!? I'd have to check my pay stubs." She giggled, sharing a smile with Charles. Lydia barely could hold back the eye roll she wanted to give, but she kept it in.
"But, as my guru Otho always says- DAY-O!" Delia felt control over herself, all of a sudden she was belting the words to The Banana Boat song. She didn't even know that song! Charles's smile dropped, he was know extremely confused. What was Delia doing?
"What?" He awkwardly laughed, trying to keep the mood up. Lydia smiled as she tilt her head and clasped her hands together.
"What's going on Delia? Are you alright?" Lydia questioned, she tried to keep her smile down but couldn't. She was excited for this next part.
"Um, I- I am sorry! I don't- I don't know what just happened. I meant to say- Me say day, me say day, me say day, me say day, me say day-WOO!" Delia covered her mouth, her eyes widened. She tried to calm down but her heartbeat began to quicken, why couldn't she control herself.
"Delia?" Charles wasn't laughing anymore, he was sincerely worried. Not just worried about the business deal, but for Delia's health in general. She didn't look like she was kidding, she looked like she was having a panic attack.
"Do you need to lie down?"
"No! No, I just need to- Daylight come and me wanna go home.." She let in a sharp gasp, fanning her face. She began to tear up as she started freaking out.
"What is happening to me!?" She yelled, Charles cut in immediately.
"Maxie!" He shouted, the room filled with laughing once again. Some of the laughing was obviously fake. Lydia looked over at the giggling ghosts in the corner, smiling at them.
"Yes?" Maxie asked, turning towards Chalres.
"On behalf of Delia and myself, I'd just like to say- Work all night on a drink of rum!" Chalres sang, now he was the one who couldn't control himself. Soon everyone was singing! Except for everyone's favorite Lydia, Barbara and Adam of course.
"Daylight come and me wanna go home."
"Stack banana till the morning come, BRRAH!" Who knew Delia could roll her Rs? Who knew you could get possessed at a business dinner? So many unanswered questions.
"Daylight come and me wanna go home! Day, me say day-o. Daylight come and me wanna go home!" The group sang together, proceeding to do each of their own weird dances.
"Come mister tally man, tally me banana." Charles lifted his hands in the air, the only thing he had control of was his own mind and he didn't enjoy it. He didn't even know what he could do at this point, it was all so frustrating. He didn't even know he could sing.
"Daylight come and me wanna go home!"
"Come mister tally man, tally me banana!" Maxie was sort of enjoying this, he didn't know why. Singing was fun, he'd never been into theatre at all. But breaking into song at random times was enjoyable.
"Daylight come and me wanna go home!"
"Lydia! Call 9-1-1!" He paused and looked at his daughter, she wasn't being controlled, she wasn't singing. She was just standing there, being Lydia and he found that pretty suspicious.
"Wait, why aren't you dancing?"
"It's like I told you, Dad! This house is haunted and the ghosts who live here...want you out!" She screamed, she turned towards the Newlydeads. "Barbara, the pig!"
"Who wants bacon!?" Barbara giggled as she lifted the pig towards Delia, having it chase her.
"No! No! I'm a vegan!" Delia screeched as she ran away from the cooked, dead animal corpse. Charles tried to help her but he was forced to continue singing.
"A beautiful bunch of ripe banana!"
"Daylight come and me wanna go home!"
"Hide the deadly black tarantula!" Now Maxine was getting her own solo, did she deserve it? Well, she was kicked in the head by a horse so they had to give her something.
"Daylight come and me wanna go home." The pig had a deep, soothing voice. The Maitlands laughed, they found all of this so hilarious. A pig singing, why not?
"Lift six foot, seven foot, eight foot bunch! Daylight come and me wanna go home. Six foot, seven foot, eight foot bunch! Daylight come and me wanna go home." The business dinner had officially got down to business. Monkey Business. Everyone was loosing it, Delia was still running around the house as she was being chased by the pig.
"Maxie! Please forgive me, If I had known-" Chalres tried to explain himself, but he was cut off.
"Chuck, you moron! Don't apologize! We're gonna be rich!" Maxie yelled, he was smiling like the true bastard he was.
"What?" Charles was taken back.
"What?" Lydia's eyes widened, her smile disappeared.
"What!?" The Maitlands stopped and looked each other in the eye.
"I was never gonna invest in your stupid "gated community". But a genuine haunted house? It's a goldmine!" The cheapskate laughed. People say more money, more problems but like he gave a shit.
"No!" Lydia almost burst into tears, she placed her hands on top of her head.
"Do you hear that, Delia? Those ghosts are gonna make us a fortune!" Charles looked over at her, she gave him a simple thumbs up. She was still trying to catch her breath from her very recent pig attack.
"No, you're supposed to be scared!" Lydia pulled her hair, she had tried to stop this from happening. But turns out she was the reason her dad's plan had succeeded. She felt horrible!
"Lydia, we're so sorry! It didn't work!" Adam frowned, looking down at the teenage girl.
"There's one thing that can still stop him." Lydia growled, balling her fists. Once The Mailtands realized what she was going to do, they disagreed.
"Lia, no! You don't know what will happen." Barbara tried to argue with her but Lydia had already made up her mind. She was going to say it.
"I can't keep living like this!" Lydia stomped her foot. "Betelgeuse!"
"Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy, oh boy! I'm so glad you changed your mind. You are never gonna regret this!" The Green Trash Gremlin had showed up as soon as his name was called, Lydia looked him in the eye.
"Betelgeuse." She took a deep breath, closing her eyes. She was a little scared, she really didn't know what she was doing.
"We are gonna make such a great team! Give me just...one, more!" Beetlejuice bit his lip, intertwining his fingers.
"BETELGEUSE!" She screamed, the chaos had paused. No one was moving, the room was silent. Only a whispery evil laugh could be heard.
"It's showtime!" Beetlejuice sent everyone into loud panic once again, the real chaos had been unleashed. The lights flickered, things flew across the room, two giant hands were at the side of the room. A colossal head, Beetlejuice's head, was at the front of the room. Barbara clang to him, trying to do something about this.
"Stop it!" She yelled, Beetlejuice pushed her back against the wall, she groaned in pain. It was his time to shine, he wasn't going let anyone ruin this.
"Sorry Babs, you've got to go!" He pointed at her and she dissapeared, he had sent her to the attic. Adam looked at where Barbara had been and panicked. He stood in front of Beetlejuice, grabbing him by the shoulders.
"Laurence, please!" Adam begged, Beetlejuice's hair had turned red in anger.
If you hadn't known by now, you could usually tell how BJ was feeling by the color of his hair. It was sort of his mood ring, he didn't like it. It made him feel like he couldn't hide anything, and when you're a scary demon you're going to need to keep secrets.
"Don't! CALL ME THAT!" He grabbed Adam by the collar, picking him up and throwing him down. Before Adam could hit the floor, he was banished to the attic as well. Due to the anger of the demon, things had gotten more crazy. The living adults ran out of the house, scared for their lives. Once they left things had calmed down, Beetlejuice looked at Lydia.
"It's our house now, kid!" BJ exclaimed, they turned around and looked at the house as it changed in their image. Lydia loved it.
"Woah..." She stood in shock, she was already enjoying herself. But what she hadn't realized was what she had just done was horrible.
"Looks like we're not invisible anymore!"
