CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE
Everything has been settled and papers have been signed.
You're finally moving out of your apartment and into your new house.
This house was a reasonable size for one person, with a spacious living room, two bedrooms and a marbled kitchen.
You were happy with yourself. You knew how to cook, you have a house, and you're free from your debts.
Today, you were moving furniture into your house. Frank was helping you with moving heavy boxes and stuff, but the kids were having their finals.
"Man, finals week... I hope they studied hard."
"I'm sure they did, plus, they all wanna go to college. All of them wanna be something when they grow up..."
Frank says while picking up a box, as you nod, agreeing with him.
Stacking the boxes on top of one another, the truck once containing the boxes drove off, the job was done after all.
Frank had offered to stay and help you with the unboxing. You reassured him saying it was okay, but he insisted. Not being able to say no, you caved in and let him help you.
The both of you opened up the boxes, redecorating your new home.
You brought your old couch and he helped you move it inside.
"This.... Is soo... Heavy..!"
"And yet.. You can drag a body... Perfectly fine.."
He had a point, but you ignored him, continuing to push the couch along the wall.
"There... It looks nice."
"Yeah.. You don't have a TV?"
Looking at him, you shook your head.
"No.. Not yet I mean, I still have a few days until I have to take all my things out my apartment."
He nods, opening the box that contained all your books that you read.
"You read?"
"Oh ha ha, Frank."
He chuckled putting the books on the shelf.
"I just read those cause I had nothing else to do."
Soon, the boxes are all emptied and your house is slowly becoming comfortable and cozy.
Sitting down at the couch, Frank joins you.
"I have been meaning to ask you this..."
You stay quiet, letting him continue.
"What happened to your friend..? Maia and Callum?"
He looked at you, head tilting to the side as he noticed your mood dropped.
"Ah sorry, sorry... You don't have to answer--"
"I don't know... They're out there somewhere, we just didn't reached out to each other."
You answered as he sighed.
You stood up, pushing the boxes out your way, too tired to clean up. You just wanted to sleep and continue this tomorrow.
Just as you were about to open the front door, Frank grabbed your wrist.
His grip wasn't tight, it was gentle.
The two of you stay silent, his fingers around your wrist as you wait for him to say something.
"Ah.. Since you have a house now.. And your debts are paid, and you know how to cook."
"Yeah..?"
You knew where this was going, and you couldn't deny that you were getting excited.
"We had a promise, and I guess it's time.."
You nodded, becoming speechless. This will be the first time you'll see his face. The first time you'll see those eyes behind the mask, and you couldn't help but imagine what his face would look like.
His free hand slowly takes the white rabbit mask off. Your eyes following his hand going down, not wanting to spoil the surprise, you stay looking down.
Your heart beating out of your chest, your fingers fidget, as you wait for Frank to say
"You can look now..."
You nod, slowly turning your head up towards him.
Your eyes widen, his face was different from what you had imagine.
His slick back brown hair, a few loose strands hanging down. His slightly pointy ears and strong jawline, subtle freckles on his face.
Your eyes meet his brown eyes that have a red tint over them.
His lips look soft, curving into a small smile.
"I take it you're surprised?"
He asked in a teasing tone.
"Very..."
You said, while you put your hand on his cheek. Your thumb grazing over his freckles.
"You have freckles..."
He laughs softly,
"Yeah, it's not that obvious."
"I like them."
He looks at you, with a soft gaze. You could feel your cheeks heat up, you did not imagine Frank would be this physically attractive.
Pulling your hand off his face, clearing your throat.
"W-Well... I uh--!"
You avert your eyes, looking everywhere but him, too shy to look him in the eyes.
He laughed as he cups your face,
"Am I making you flustered?"
Cooing at you, grinning. His mischievous eyes staring at yours, as your eyebrows furrowed.
"N-No..."
He raised as eyebrow.
".... Maybe.."
You huffed as he pinched your cheeks, you cry in pain as you slap his hands away.
"Alright, alright! Jeez.."
He said while rubbing his hand.
"Stop pinching my cheeks! It hurts you know..."
You rubbed your cheeks, not sure if it's red from blushing or because of Frank.
He laughed as he cooed, taking your hand off your face.
"Does it hurt, little baby?"
He asked in a baby voice, making you pout.
"I am not a baby..! And it does hurt!"
You exclaimed, as you pinched his cheeks and laughed.
Before you could worsen his pain, he brought your face closer to his.
Attacking your cheek with soft kisses, making you giggle.
He smiles, cupping your face once again.
"Does it still hurt, Y/N?"
The way he said your name gave you butterflies in your stomach, your cheeks reddened.
"It feels a lot better now."
You smile at him, as he stood up straight.
The both of you went out to eat to a Cafe near your house.
He paid for the meal and you thanked him, eating the cake you ordered and drinking your drink.
It was the first time the two of you went out and he wasn't wearing his mask, and you weren't used to it. You weren't used to seeing his eyes and knowing where his eyes landed.
You could feel his gaze on you and it made your heart race, as you try not to choke on your drink as he followed you with his eyes.
"Stop staring... You're making me nervous..!"
You pout, noticing his cheeks turn red and his eyes immediately looked away.
"I forgot I want wearing my mask.."
He chuckled, scratching his neck at his silly mistake. You blush, asking yourself.
Does he look at me like that with his mask on..?
You blush, laughing softly.
Finishing your food and drinks, he drove you back to your house, since you wanted to try out the new bed you bought.
Stopping right in front of your house, you got out and he followed you. Standing on the porch, you look up at him.
"Thanks for helping me out, Frank."
He smiled,
"And thanks for driving me home."
His smile grew bigger,
"No problem, Y/N.."
He scratches his neck, before continuing.
"Im really proud of you, you know?"
Your eyebrows raised, confused on what he meant.
"You can finally quit your job and have a normal life, and we're.. Growing closer..."
He blushed, smiling shyly at you.
You stood closer to him, and motioned him to come close.
He lowered his head, waiting for you to say something. Faces inches away from eachother, his eyes staring at yours.
You smile at him, cupping his face, pulling it closer to your lips and kissing his cheek.
The two of you blushing, you smile at him again.
"I'll see you tomorrow?"
You asked, and he nodded, looking shocked.
"Y-Yeah... I'll be here tomorrow."
You waved goodbye and went inside.
Looking at him out the window, watching as he lingered for a second and grinned to himself.
He entered his car and drove off.
You smiled, not being able to wait until tomorrow comes and seeing him again.
