Adrien was anxious while he's getting ready to have breakfast with his father and take the opportunity to tell him about you.
He really wanted you to formally meet at last.
Before he went downstairs, he left a piece of cheese next to Plagg who was still sleeping.
An excited smile lit up his face when he saw his father already sitting at the table waiting for him.
"Good morning father." Adrien took a seat at the table.
"Morning, Adrien." Gabriel said with his usual serious expression.
Adrien started babbling about a girl he likes to his father and oddly enough, Gabriel agreed and kept listening until he asked curiously:
"So you're dating. What's her name?" Adrien paused, thinking of what words to use.
"Her name is (Y/n) (L/n) and I really wanted you to meet her." Adrien for a second felt relieved to be able to talk to his father like this, but Gabriel's expression went from neutral to disapproving at few seconds.
"The same girl with a bad media reputation? And her family is my biggest competition. Adrien I don't approve of this, you will break up with this girl immediately." Gabriel commanded seriously, Adrien's eyes widened in disbelief.
"What?! But father, you can't judge without at least meeting her first. You once told me not to give up easily on what I want." Adrien protested, determined to change his father's mind.
"Adrien, you're almost an adult, you're my only heir and one day the weight of our family name will rest on your shoulders. You have to make sacrifices if you want to maintain our status, a high school romance with a scandalous girl is not good for our name or for business." Gabriel explained coldly. Adrien pondered for a few seconds but he wasn't willing to give up so he got up from his chair.
"It's not just a high school dating! I don't give a damn about status! I love her so much. I don't care what the media says about me..." Adrien looked at his father and that look of disapproval hurt him a lot. Unlike the media, Adrien cared what his father thought, even if it seemed unfair, Gabriel is his father. "I will never have your approval..." Adrien whispered the last sentence to himself.
"I know what's best for you son. You can't date her." Gabriel stood up and walked over to Adrien putting a hand on his shoulder. "Now that your mother is gone...we only have each other." Gabriel gently squeezed his shoulder of the son trying to make the words less heavy.
But Adrien felt like a new weight had been placed on his shoulders.

3 weeks later...
Adrien had just arrived from fencing class and went to take a shower to cool off.
While he was in the shower letting the cold water run down his face, a few tears came down with it, unable to be distinguished from the normal drops.
He hadn't seen you for 3 weeks, he wasn't just busy, he didn't know if he could face you. He couldn't disobey his father. Natalie always told him to follow his heart but he was torn between the love of his father and the love of the girl who won him over.
He grabbed a towel and wrapped it around his waist leaving the bathroom thinking about how complicated everything was from the beginning.
His cell phone rang on top of the bed, it was Felix. He didn't feel like talking right now but answered anyway.
Calling/on:
'Hi, Felix.'
"Hello favorite cousin, I'm having a little party at my place and you're invited."
'Un, thanks for the invitation but I'm not in the mood today."
'Are you not into it or did your father make you a prisoner for good?'
'*sigh* I really don't want to, Felix.'
'Are you okay? You're acting weird these days. (Y/n) is worried about you, you don't tell us anything.'
'I just don't want to worry her about my dad issues. You were right about me, I just do what he tells me to do, he doesn't approve my relationship with (Y /n), and I don't know how to fix it, I don't want to hurt either both of them.' Adrien ran a hand through his wet hair sitting on the bed, there was a pause before Felix finally answered.
'Are you telling me that you can't decide between a life where your father controls everything you do and one where you are free with the girl you love?' Felix sighed in disappointment.
'Even though my father is tough, I love him. I can't make that kind of decision, I just wish he would give me a chance.'
'We're talking about your father Adrien... A manipulator who wants to control everyone's lives! *sigh* I don't know what else I can say to get you to break free of your father on your own. Do I have to do everything for you? I'm honestly tired Adrien. I can't bear to see (Y/n) sad and you stuck. I just want you two to be happy, but this is killing me, you have no idea how.'
'Sorry... I think I know what I got to do.... Thanks for taking care of (Y/n).'
Calling/off:
"Are you okay kid?" Plagg asked floating in front of him.
"No..." He replied while getting dressed, then went to the piano to practice and try to keep his mind occupied, Plagg tried to talk to him and give him cheese reference advice but the boy needs some time to ponder with himself.
✧Skip time✧
For the next two days he was thinking about how to tell you everything that was on his mind, he didn't even know if he could or even wanted to say it.
He heard a knock on the door. And his dad walked in right after, Adrien put down the book he was having a hard time focusing on and looked at his dad with a blank expression.
"Do you need anything father?"
"Natalie tells me you've been down these days, it might affect your grades." Gabriel said straight away.
"What do you want me to do dad? Turn into an emotionless robot?" Adrien turned his eyes to the book.
"No son, I know it's hard, can I do something to make you feel better?" He looked at his father in surprise.
Adrien knew that his father would not accept his relationship with (Y/n), he was just trying to buy him off with something else he could do.
"Actually there's one thing, father, I'd like to go back to my old school, I miss my old friends..." He waited for his father's answer anxiously inside.
"That's fine, but if your grades drop for some reason, you'll go back to studying at home." Gabriel accepted leaving the room making Adrien happy for the first time in days.
"Wow... That was unexpected. You're going to see more of your old friends again! Aren't you excited?" Plagg came out of the closet where he was hiding.
"Yeah that part is really exciting..." He said with a sad smile.
"What do you mean?" Plagg questioned, Adrien said he would understand soon enough.

It was Tuesday.
Adrien's driver had just dropped him off in front of his old school.
Nino was the first to notice as soon as the blonde got out of the car.
"Dude... I can't believe it! You're back!" Nino ran up to him and gave him a bear hug.
"Oh man, I can't breathe.... It's good to see you too." Nino let go of his friend and dragged him into the building.
"Everyone is gonna freak out when they see you here. Why didn't you say you were coming back?" Nino kept asking his friend a lot of questions and when they arrived at the classroom door, everyone was dispersed talking waiting for the teacher to arrive.
"GUYS, YOU NEED TO SEE WHO'S BACK!" Everyone looked towards the door, and everyone's eyes widened when they saw Adrien.
But the only person the blonde was paying attention to was (Y/n), she smiled excitedly and he smiled back a little sadly.
Everyone surrounded Adrien with hugs and questions until Chloe pushed everyone away and kept the blonde only by her side.
Adrien's Pov/off:
You and Felix watched from your seats as the blonde tried to gently dismiss everyone so he could breathe.
"I wasn't expecting that one, did he tell you he was coming back?" Felix asked you next to him.
"He didn't tell me..." You said a little disappointed, you felt a shiver down your spine and looked away, meeting Lila's eyes that were looking at you with a fake smile.
What a disturbing bitch...
Then Felix suddenly got up saying to everyone: "Let the boy breath guys, how about we have a welcome party at my house? We have to celebrate this great news." You blinked your eyes and scratched your ears to make sure you heard correctly.
"Party?? Now we're talking! I'll bring the drinks, hihi..." Nino agreed excitedly. Everyone cheered up and started discussing this party and finally gave Adrien space.
"Are you really going to invite these little people to your place?" Chole grimaced in disbelief. Felix rolled his eyes and just ignored her.
"Alright Felix, you can't fool me. What are you planning?" You whispered suspiciously, Felix raised his hands in defense.
"I swear I'm not planning anything. I just want my cousin to feel welcome." He chuckled while looking forward at Adrien's direction.
You weren't very convinced but you let it go. A party wasn't a bad idea, but you got the impression that Adrien wasn't too excited about it despite his smile, inside he looked upset.
Your eyes went from him to Marinette who was gazing at him from afar with her checks blushing.
Looks like Marinette still has feelings for Adrien...
You put your head down on the table trying to clear your mind of paranoid and jealous thoughts.
For the rest of the day you couldn't find an opportunity to talk to Adrien alone without feeling like you were being watched. And he also seemed to be avoiding you. You knew it was better that no one knew you were together but it was hurting you.
While your driver was taking you home you received a message from your boyfriend.
We need to talk, but I'd like it to be in person, could it be at the party Felix is having tomorrow?
Yeah. Is everything okay?🤔
I'll tell you at the party.
You dropped the phone sighing looking at your reflection in the car window.
He's so distant these days...
What is he going to talk about?
