Kuroo
It's only been a week and a half of traveling, and Akaashi hasn't answered his phone once. His shaking fingers typed in Akaashi's number again, pressing call, and holding the phone to his ear. He prayed for Akaashi to answer. He had finally dissolved into true panic, instead of being disheartened and nervous like before. Sure, Akaashi doesn't sit on his phone, especially when it's close to deadlines. Sure, Akaashi literally never answers as it is. Sure, he leaves it on silent so much he doesn't know his own ringtone.
However, after calling and calling for this long he couldn't think of a truly valid reason as to why there had been zero contact. He ruled out many possibilities, and weighed out his options. The most plausible explanation is that he broke his phone in someway and it isn't working. Although, he wouldn't just not contact him some other way.
When the voicemail played out, he groaned and ended the call. He stared at the amount of calls he'd made in the time since Akaashi and him had last spoken, and he shut off the screen.
The door opened, and light steps and the sound of clashing swords filled his ears. Kenma's expression was completely blank. "Is Sho in the room?" he asked, approaching slowly.
"i dont know..." kuroo groaned, flopping back on the couch.
Kenma passed Kuroo slowly. "T, why are you being so damn extra about this? So whiney..."
Kuroo growled, sitting up with a pillow in his hand chucking it at the back of Kenma's head. He neatly ducked it, never turning back or looking up, and he kept walking, relaxed and silent.
He shut the door behind him, and Kuroo rubbed his face with his hands.
It was time to ask Tsukki to let him talk to Yamaguchi.
He stood begrudgingly from his chair at the table in the hotel room, walking out of the sitting room and to the bedroom that Tsukki stayed in.
"Tsukishima..." He said, knocking lightly against the door. There was no answer. After a moment, he knocked again. "Tsukishimaaa..." He whined again, knocking a bit more forcefully. After no answer, he pounded against the door. "Tsukki! Open the goddamn door." He yelled.
He heard scuffling, and grumbling as well, and Tsukishima cracked open the door, his hair sticking up this way and that with dark circles underneath his deadly eyes. "What?"
"I need to talk to Yamaguchi."
"What- Why?" Tsukki's eyebrows narrowed further in confusion.
"Akaashi isn't answering me." Kuroo pleaded with his eyes, pouting his lips.
Tsukishima appeared to be considering the statement. "He never answers you anyways?"
"Y'Know what Tsukki-..." Kuroo took a deep breath. "It's been a week and a half, and I haven't heard shit from him."
Tsukki's face relaxed, his eyes a bit wide, before returning to an emotionless and annoyed state. He stepped back, opening the door further. The hotel room was pitch black to his eyes, only a sliver of light coming from beneath the curtains despite it being the middle of the afternoon. "Come in, I'll let you use my phone."
Kuroo smiled, relief flowing through him. He's finally get to talk to akaashi, everything would be okay.
"Put it on speaker, I wanna hear this." Tsukki said, handing Kuroo his ringing phone.
After a few moments, Yamaguchi picked up, his bright cherry voice filling the silence of the room. "Kei~! I missed you so much, I'm really surprised you called! You're never up before dinner after a show-"
"It's Kuroo."
"Oh." Yamaguchi said, his voice disappointed.
"Where's Akaashi?"
"What?"
"I said, 'Where's Akaashi?'" Kuroo repeated.
"Kuroo, you silly, Akaashi's on hiatus. onodera sent him so he could finish his manuscript." He giggled.
Tsukishima made a face, and Kuroo blinked. "He didn't say anything to me?"
"What?"
"I said-"
"No, no, I heard you Kuroo, but he said he told you."
"Verbally?" Tsukishima asked.
"well... no, in a letter slash note thingy."
"he didn't tell me anything about it, yamaguchi." kuroo said, dragging his hand anxiously through his hair.
"he didn't say anything to me either, but-"
Tsukishima tilted his head. "Read it again."
"Why?" Kuroo and Yams chorused.
"Read. It. Again."
"Hai, hai, Kei. I'll read it now.."
The line became silent and Kuroo chewed on his thumb nail, glaring anxiously and counting the ticking seconds.
"it's definitely his hand writing so i don't see why you're-... wait..."
"'wait' what?!" kuroo cried out.
"i found a grammatical error, and a misspelling."
"yamaguchi, don't fucking do that, that's literally not even a fucking issue-"
"no, kuroo, seriously. does akaashi make mess ups like that? he's fucking writes stories for a living."
"he also has editors and is terrible at spelling."
"what kind of error?" Tsukki jumped in again.
"he mixed up then and than... and spelled clothes as cloths..."
Kuroo's heart dropped, his blood running cold. "i'm calling kiyoko." he said, before tossing the phone back to tsukki and running to his.
he searched through his contacts, scrolling and his eyes scanning the screen frantically until he found her contact. his fingers fumbled as he pressed call, and he nearly dropped his phone. he managed to catch it, and pressed up to his ear and waited anxiously.
after a few moments, kiyoko's line picked up.
"hey, nekofucker," yachi laughed, and he could hear kiyoko's soft voice in the background.
"yacchan, i need to talk to kiyoko. it's urgent."
yachi was quiet for a minute, taking in the solemn and stressed voice coming from kuroo's lips. "y-yeah... shimzu, it's testuro." she said quietly as she passed the phone.
"hello?"
"is akaashi on hiatus?"
"what?"
"is akaashi on some writing binge with no phone or way to contact anyone? or has he contacted someone in the last week?" kuroo spluttered.
"n-no, but i wouldn't necessarily know. i'll make a conference call with onodera, he would surely know." she responded, and he could hear the different beeps from the number she typed in.
after a few moments of ringing, someone picked up. "yes? kiyoko, who's the other number?"
"it's kuroo, akaashi-san's boyfriend. he's rather concerned, akaashi-" kiyoko began, only to be cut off by a frantic kuroo.
"akaashi left a note saying he'd be on hiatus to finish his most recent manga but he never actually contacted anyone about it."
"wait, what? akaashi turned in his manuscript to me like a week and a half ago, i never sent him on a hiatus."
there was a long pause on the line between the three of them. tsukki leaned against his doorway. kuroo looked up, his eyes wide and nervous.
"then where exactly is akaashi?"
