Chapter 15 - Welcome Back, Sweetheart

The Rock as Uncle Keoni

Vin Diesel as Uncle Koa

Cris's POV

I could not wait to feel her lips on mine again. Her amnesia must go.

"I love you, Kamea. Ever since we first met." We resumed kissing, and it began to get serious.

"Then prove it," she said.

"What about your arm and leg?" I asked her.

"I can take the pain. I want you to prove to me you love me."

While not breaking our kiss, I picked her up off the couch and went to her room. I closed the door to her room. We both started throwing clothes everywhere. We were both down to our underwear and resumed kissing. Just as that was about to come off, we both heard a knock on the door.

"Daddy? Ms. Kam? I don't feel so good," Día cried out.

So, I got up and put my pants and shirt back on, and went to check on my baby girl.

"What's wrong, baby girl?"

"My tummy hurts, daddy."

I checked Dia's forehead, and she was burning up. I scooped Día up and laid her down on the couch.

"I'll be right back, baby." I went to get a thermometer, some children's Tylenol, and a lukewarm washcloth. When I got back, Kamea sat on the couch and started rocking Dia.

"Sweetheart, let me take your temperature." Did had a temperature of 103 degrees. "Take this for daddy."

I gave Dia Tylenol and some water to drink. After she took the pills and drank the water, I put the washcloth on her forehead. While Día and Kamea lay on the couch, I sat on the loveseat adjacent to the couch.

We must have all fallen asleep because when I looked at them on the couch, they were out like a light. I went and got a blanket to place over them. I felt Día's head again. Her temperature seemed to go down some, so I went and got her another lukewarm cloth. And then I went back over to the loveseat.

"That was too close. I let my testosterone get the best of me. When Kamea comes out of her amnesia and finds out we almost had sex, that could ruin our friendship. Even ruin a future relationship."

***************************

*Later that morning*

My mom came to take the twins to school.

"Cris, is everything okay?" I heard her say.

With sleep in my eyes, "Oh, hey, mom. Día woke up in the middle of the night saying she did not feel good. I need to recheck her temperature."

"I'll go check on Rocco."

"Thanks." I walked over to the couch. "Día, baby, wake up for daddy." She started rubbing her little eyes. "Open up for me." She opened her mouth, and I took her temperature.

The temperature reading said it was down to 101.5 degrees. It is still a little high, so I will get Dia dressed and take her to the kids' pediatrician. I better check Rocco, too, and see if he is okay.

I went to his room to check on him. "Rocco feels like he has an elevated temperature, too," my mom said. "I'm going to take them both to the doctor. I'm going to get Día ready."

"I'll make sure Rocco is ready."

When it comes to my kids, I do not play. I do not ever want to lose them. We got the twins ready and carried them downstairs. Before I left, I went back to the couch to tell Kamea where we were going.

"Sweetheart, we are taking Día and Rocco to see the pediatrician. They both have elevated temperatures. We will be back after the visit."

"Okay. When you come back, can we talk about what happened?"

"Of course." My mom had a puzzled look on her face.

After that, we left the house for the doctor.

*****************************

*3 hours later*

The twins were knocked out by the time we got home. So, mom took Rocco to his room. And I took Día to her room. I put the twin's medicine in the kitchen and searched for Kamea. I checked the couch, but she was not there.

"Kamea, where are you?" I called out. "Kamea, where are you?" I said it again. So, I went to her room. "Kam...?"

That is all I could say because I saw her lying on the floor. I ran over to her, picked her up, and carried her to the bed. "Sweetheart, wake up! Wake up, Kamea!"

Kamea opened her eyes and what happened next was nothing short of a miracle. "Cris? Where am I?"

"When I came home, I saw you lying on the floor. So, I carried you to the bed."

"Wait. What are you doing in my home? You don't even know where I live."

"Sweetheart, we are at my home. You are recovering from the accident that happened. You have had Amnesia for about six weeks.

"Amnesia?" She paused, and then it clicked. "From when Re- he pushed me down the stairs?"

"Yes." My mother came into the room. "Do you know who that is that walked in the room?"

"Yes, that is your mom."

"Listen to me, Kamea. Can you remember what happened to you?"

I saw the tears flowing from her eyes. So, I started wiping them with my fingers.

"I had just come from your house after spending the day with you, Día and Rocco. At least, I think so. I got home and noticed Reed was banging on my door, looking for things he had left at my house for over a year. I told him to go into the backyard, and he would find his things. Reed did not see them, so I told him to look again. He did and found them in ashes. I had burned everything he left."

"Note to self, never break Kamea's heart."

"My head hurts."

"Mom, can you get some pills and water?"

"After that, Reed busted a window to my house. He was angry and went looking for me. I-I hit him over the head with a vase and ran. H-h-he then picked me up and threw me down the stairs."

"Baby, you were in the hospital for close to 5 weeks. You suffered a broken arm, leg, bruised ribs, and concussion. You also slipped into a coma. When you finally woke up from your coma, you suffered from amnesia. You could not remember anyone at first, but then you remembered your family."

"I'm so glad you remembered everything as best as you could. I have some of my security looking for Reed. He is never going to bother you again."

My mom came back with the pain pills and some water.

"Take these, Kamea." My mom gave Kamea the pills and water. After she took the pills, Kamea then asked, "When can I go home?"

"I have to tell her what happened." I took a big gulp before I said what had happened.

"Sweetheart, what I am about to say will break your heart. Someone set your house on fire and destroyed it. It's gone."

"You mean I am homeless?" Kamea said while crying.

"Come here. As long as I am around, you will never ever be homeless. We have plenty of room here. You can stay with us. It will be the four of us - Día, Rocco, you, and me."

"I'll go check on Día and Rocco." My mom said.

"B-b-ut, I can't. I do not want to feel like a freeloader. I have always been on my own since college. My parents even wanted to pay for my medical schooling, but I could not let them. I have about two more years to pay off that. I never wanted to depend on anyone for anything. Yes, my parents paid for my college tuition and bought me that house. I am grateful for that. It's not in me to depend on someone else."

"Kamea love, you are not a freeloader. You worked hard for everything you have. Believe me when I say we would love to have you here. The twins love you. I love you. I always have since I saw you at my club."

There, I said it. It was a relief to get that off my chest finally. "Please, sweetheart, stay with us. If you still want your own place after a bit, then I will call my real estate agent, and we can look for a house for you."

"Okay, when you put it like that, I'll stay. Thank you."

"I'm going to call your parents and tell them the good news. Now, get some rest."

Kamea rested her head on her pillow and fell asleep.

"Thank goodness she doesn't remember what almost happened last night. That can never happen again until she is ready."

******

I called Kamea's parents and told them she no longer has amnesia. They were ecstatic and came over to see her. Everyone was so happy to have her back. I was delighted to have her back and tell her how I felt.

*************************

Over the next two months, Kamea decided she wanted to stay with us. I was thrilled. She went back to work at the hospital. Everyone welcomed her back with open arms. They even had a party for her and invited us to come.

Kamea reads Día and Rocco bedtime stories. We sometimes even cuddle on the couch and watch tv as a family. I say family because one day we will be. We all sit together and eat dinner.

My Diabetes is currently under control. Kamea does not like giving herself insulin shots, so I do them for her. We have even cooked dinner together sometimes.

Other than Alicia, Kamea is the only other woman that I have ever loved. 💙💜 We have even grown closer. We have gone out together on dates. And she even lets me kiss her and hold her hand. She is the woman of my dreams, and I cannot wait to call her mine officially.

***************************

Present-day

I am going to pick Kamea up from the hospital for our dinner date. I walked to her office and opened the door. "Hey baby, are you ready?"

"I'm just turning my computer off, and I will be ready." While Kamea turned her computer off, I walked over to her. "I couldn't wait to kiss those sexy lips of yours."

"I couldn't wait for you to kiss them." Let us just say we were in her office for way too long after Kamea turned her computer off. We did not do anything to get her fired. But I could kiss her the rest of the night.

"Cris, one thing you will find out about me is that I am not a shy girl," she said between us, smashing our lips together.

"That's good to know for the future."

"Come on. Let us go before we miss our dinner date." Kamea straightened her dress, and I straightened out my shirt. And, then, we left.

After our make-out session, we walked to my Escalade and pulled off towards the restaurant.

I took Kamea to a restaurant that only serves dishes for people with Diabetes. I found it by accident while searching for restaurants that we could go to. The restaurant had valet parking, so I gave the valet my keys, and we headed inside.

The place was beautifully decorated - paintings from local artists were up on the wall, and flowers were placed on every table. There was a very big, beautiful chandelier in the restaurant's center. The waiter seated us at our table. Of course, I pulled out her chair for her and then sat in mine. Then, the waiter gave us our menus. Kamea ordered Balsamic Chicken with vegetables, and I ordered Grilled Shrimp with Melon & Pineapple Salsa. We also each ordered a glass of wine.

"I'm really nervous about meeting your uncles this weekend." One of the reasons was 1) I wanted to ask her to be my girlfriend officially, and 2) Kamea's uncles are exactly like her father.

"My uncles are like gentle giants. I told them all about you and how you have been loving and caring towards me. I told them you are nothing like Reed."

"I don't think I ever told you this, but while you were in the hospital, your dad said if I ever hurt you, he would break me in half. And that whatever was left, your uncles would take care of it."

"Come here." I moved my face closer to her, and she kissed me. "There is no doubt about it - you will never hurt me. I believe it with all of my heart."

I am still going to be nervous because Kamea showed me a picture of her uncles, and they are the same size and height as her father.

The waiter then brought out our dinner, and we had an enjoyable evening.

****************

Party time!

It is now the day of the party. I was nervous about Kamea's answer and about meeting her uncles.

We held the party at my house. Everyone special to Kamea was there - her parents, uncles, sister, cousin Marissa, and Tamia.

My parents were there, along with Día and Rocco. I let them stay up because it is the weekend, and they will have a part in asking Kamea to be my girlfriend.

When Kamea finally made her entrance to the party - she looked breathtaking. She wore a sexy, black halter-top bodycon dress that showed off all her curves. And a pair of designer black stiletto heels I bought for her at the Prada store I went to on a business trip to Italy.

Kamea's father and uncles looked at me with a death glare because they noticed I was drooling while Kamea walked over to me.

"How do you like it? And thank you for the shoes. They are a perfect size," Kamea said as she kissed me.

"I love it! Wow! Baby, you look sexy in that dress. Makes me want to..." Out of the corner of my eye, I saw them walking over-them being her dad and uncles.

"Um, sweetheart, where is the rest of your dress?" Kamea's father said while glaring at me.

"Oh, daddy, I picked this out because Cris said it would be a special night. I am not afraid of showing off my body. Besides, he loves it, and so do I. I do not normally wear dresses like this out. So, for this day, I thought it would be nice."

"Sweetheart, your mother wants to talk to you for a few minutes."

"Okay. I'll be right back." Kamea walked over to her mom, and now I was left alone.

"Oh great." Here it comes.

"So, you're Cris. Every time I talk to Kami, she smiles at the mention of your name," her Uncle Koa said.

"Why do you seem nervous there, Mr. Cris?" Kamea's Uncle Keoni said. He looked at me like he wanted to snap me in half.

"I-I-I'm not nervous. Not nervous at all." I could not tell if they were serious or joking.

"Well, look here, Mr. Cris. I know my brother warned you about what we do to people who hurt our nieces," Uncle Koa says.

"So, we are going to repeat it for emphasis. If you break Kamea's heart," Kamea's uncle Keoni said as he stood before me. "If you break Kami's heart, we are going to break you. Got the message?"

Gulping, "I got the message loud and clear." From the tone in their voices, they were not joking.

Kamea came back over after talking to Rocco, Día, and Jayde. So, I took a deep breath and was about to ask the second most important question in our lives.

"Ladies and gentlemen, first, I wanted to say welcome to my home and thank you all for coming. I am so glad everyone could make it because tonight is a special night. We are all glad to have this special, beautiful woman standing next to me in our lives. She means everything to me, and I want everyone to know it. Día and Rocco, come over, please."

They both walked over so we could do what we had rehearsed.

"Ms. Kam, my daddy, let us pick a present for you." Rocco pulled out of his pocket the present we picked out for her. Kamea opened the box and was surprised.

"Ms. Kam, it's my favorite color," Día said. And, then, I went last.

"Kamea, ever since you entered our lives, we have loved every minute of it. Día was a shy, sweet little girl. But she has slowly come out of her shell because of you. Día and Rocco both love you very much. Every time they hear your name, they are excited to see you."

"Every time I hear your name and see you, I feel the same. To see the happiness on my children's faces gives me the greatest joy as a father. I love you very much for that and for being the beautiful, kind-hearted person you are. So, Ms. Kamea Palu, will you stay in our lives forever and become my girlfriend?"

Día and Rocco then said together, "Ms. Kam, will you date our daddy?"

She cried for a few minutes, so I grabbed her hand and held her tight.

Then she knelt to Rocco and Día, "I love you both too. Yes, I would love to be your daddy's girlfriend."

Then she stood back to me, "I love you, Cris. Yes, I would love to be your girlfriend."
