Chapter 12 - Trust
Cris' POV
Quietly smirking, "She thinks I'm hot." Kamea may not remember who I am now, but I will take it. I mean, I know I am handsome and all, but I do not use my looks to get women.
Everybody tells me, "Man, you can have any woman you want. Look at how they throw themselves at you." And they really do. But I am not that kind of guy. I am a one-woman man. And the one I want is Kamea.
Another thought came to mind, so I asked Kamea's parents. "Mr. & Mrs. Palu, when Kamea is released from the hospital..." I gulped before saying the next few words.
"I don't want Kamea to be alone at her house. I want to take care of her at my house. And I can give her the insulin shots. She is going to need help with her medications and so many other things. I can have a nurse stay with her during the day. A-and, Día, and Rocco would love to have her there. I would love to have her there too."
I was nervous, especially when it came to her father. Her father was a no-nonsense kind of dad. The biceps on her father was huge, so he really could break my bones. I have a muscular build myself, but nothing like her father. He must be at least 6'7" tall and have massive biceps. And his eyes, when serious, are also scary. "I really love her, and this is one way that I can prove it and, at the same time, gain your trust."
They just sat there, deep in thought, about what I just asked. Kamea's dad was a little hesitant at first, but Mama Jayde whispered something that changed his mind.
Kalani's POV
Initially, I was dead set on saying no. But I had a little convincing from Jayde. And besides, she told me if I did not, I would be in big trouble. Trouble means sleeping on the couch and no loving. I am not stupid. So, to get my point across, I am going to have a little fun with Mr. Cris. When it comes to my family, especially my girls, I do not play. Jayde and I have already lost our son. I could not bear it if Kamea or Noelani died too.
So, I got out of my chair, walked over to Cris, and motioned for him to stand up. I am 6'6", so I was looking down at him. Then, I got in his face and said, "My initial response was absolutely not. But thanks to my wife convincing me, we are going to say yes."
Cris was nervous and sweating, as he should be. "But, if Kamea calls me about you hurting her, I will hunt you down and rip you in half." I pretended that I was tearing him in half.
"Whatever is left, my brothers will handle. And just so you know, they are the same height and muscular build." After that, I walked back to my seat and sat down. I had the biggest smirk on my face. Jayde popped my arm. I was dead serious with what I said.
Cris gulped and stuttered, "Y-Yes, sir. I hear you loud and clear. My house has a bedroom on the first floor, so I will have her stay in that room. And hire a nurse for during the day. And I will take care of her in the evening."
"Good. Remember what I said." And I did the rip motion again.
"Leave him alone. He seems genuine. He is nothing like Reed."
The nurse wheeled Kamea back in. She was fast asleep.
So, we all went to get something to eat.

*Speaking of Reed*
Reed's POV
With this disguise, no one will know I am back. I need to find out about Kamea, so my plan to make things right will go on without a hitch. I just hope she is still alive. I miss touching her beautiful, silky soft skin. I wish she would have let me hit it. "Why was she so dang stubborn?"
"Excuse me, can you tell me where I can find Parkview General Hospital? I am new in town and today is my first day of work there."
I was snapped out of my thoughts by a tall, nice piece of chocolate I would love to taste. This girl was sexy, as I do not know what. I could not help but get aroused looking at this woman. I can use her to find out if Kamea is still there and alive. "Sure. It is right this way. I am Reed."
"Thanks for your help, Reed. I am Keisha." So, we made our way to the hospital.

Marissa's POV
The last time we were here, she could not remember anyone. I hope she permanently does not lose her memory. Thank goodness Cris took care of that intruder. I cannot wait until we can do the same thing to Reed. I was always taught that hate is a strong word. But, in Reed's case, I will make an exception.
Andre and I made our way to the private wing. Dang, Cris' security detail is hot! It is getting hot in here. "Andre is my boo. Andre is my boo," I said as I was fanning myself.
"Marissa, are you okay?" Andre asked me with a concerned look.
I said, stuttering, "Uh, uh, I-I am okay. Let us go see Kam." One of the security guys winked at me before we walked away.
I knocked on the door quickly, and then we walked into her room.
"Hey, auntie. How's Kam doing today?"
"She is knocked out. They just brought her down from taking an MRI," my auntie Jayde said.
"Does she remember anyone?"
"So far, she has remembered sad events - being pushed down the stairs by Reed. And, Kekoa."
"Sorry, Auntie. She will get her memory back soon."
"Thanks, sweetie," my auntie said. I looked at my uncle, and he had a look that said, "I'm going to tease Andre." This was going to be interesting.
My uncle said, "Hey, Andre, are you taking good care of my favorite niece?" Andre tensed up when he said that. I could not stop laughing. My aunt and uncle always treated me like their third daughter. I would always be over at their house for sleepovers, barbecue cookouts, and even luaus. Andre was too scared to speak, but he eventually spoke. "Y-yes, Mr. Palu."
"Good, because when it comes to my girls, I don't play." Uncle Kalani pretended that he was breaking something. I looked at Andre, and he was sweating. I love my aunt and uncle. They always make sure we have a good time at their house.
Jayde's POV
We all started laughing after my husband teased Andre. Suddenly, we noticed Kami was twitching like she was panicking. So, I ran over to her bed to calm her down. "It is okay, sweetheart. Mama is right here. You just had a bad dream, baby."
Her eyes went wide like she remembered who I was. And then she passed out.
"Auntie, Kami remembers you!" Marissa excitedly said.
It brought tears to my eyes, knowing my girl knew who I was.

Narrator's POV
Over the next two weeks, Doctor Weekly was able to remove Kamea's breathing tube so she could breathe on her own. She remembered her parents, Noel and Marissa. But still could not remember Cris and the twins. She progressed so well that Doctor Weekly planned to release her from the hospital.
The devil himself, Reed, was up to his tricks. Thanks to inside help at the hospital, he found out Kamea was indeed alive. He tried to impersonate a nurse but could not get through because of not being on the approved list. "Time to go lay on the charm so I can find out when she will be released."
The police came to get a statement from Kamea about what she could remember. She started crying, talking about it. Kamea remembered who pushed her down the stairs.
Cris would visit after work with the twins. He said they were good friends. Cris told her that as a friend, he was going to help her get better, and she would be staying at his house. She would always find herself staring at him, thinking, "This man is totally hot. I wonder if he has a girlfriend?"
"Your name is Cris, correct?" Kamea asks him.
"Yes, it is," Cris tells her.
"I am sorry I do not remember you. But you are very attractive. Do you have a girlfriend?"
Cris tells her, "No, I currently do not have a girlfriend. And thank you for the compliment."
"Yes, he is single." She started cheering quietly to herself. "Thank you for taking care of me." And, then, she drifted off to sleep.
*One week later.*
Kamea is finally leaving the hospital. She has not recovered from her amnesia, so Doctor Weekly suggested they keep showing her pictures and talking about past events.
Doctor Weekly made an appointment for Kamea to come in so she could see how her broken arm and leg were healing. And also check her brain to make sure everything is going well. Cris said he would take a day off and bring her in. Everybody left the hospital and followed Cris to his house.

Kamea's POV
"Your house is beautiful, Cris. And thanks again for letting me stay here."
"You're welcome. It is my pleasure to have you in my home. And my twins were excited as well."
Cris POV
Kamea turned around to talk with Día and Rocco. "And thank you for the pictures and teddy bears. I love teddy bears."
"You're welcome, Ms. Kam. Ms. Kam, can you play tea party and dolls with me?" Día asked.
"I would love to, sweetheart."
"Come on, munchkins, let us get in the house." My parents were inside fixing something for everyone to eat. They made it Diabetic friendly. The twins ran to them and hugged them.
I went to help Kamea get out of the truck and bring her into the house. Surprisingly, she let me carry her into the house. We searched for medical supply stores, and I bought her a wheelchair so that she could move around the house. Both her parents and mine got to know each other since I am sure her parents would be visiting every day. My parents cooked a feast.
"Thank you all so much for your kindness. Do you mind showing me where I will be staying?"
"Sure. Would you like to sit in your chair or want me to carry you?" I hope she says to carry her. I can't wait to carry her to our bedroom when we get married.
"If you do not mind, can you carry me?" She said.
"Of course, sweetheart." So, I carried her to the first-floor bedroom. I gently placed her on the bed, pulled the covers over her, and kissed her on the forehead. "Get some rest, Kamea. I will check on you later."
I unpacked the prescriptions that Doctor Weekly gave her, along with her insulin and asthma medicine. Before I walked out of the door, I turned around to see that she was fast asleep.
******************************
*Later that evening. *
She must have been having a nightmare because I heard her screaming while fixing dinner for the four of us. I ran into the room to make sure everything was okay.
"What is wrong, sweetheart?" I started wiping her tears away. She leaned into my, caressing her cheeks.
"I can't stop thinking about being pushed down the stairs. And the image of my brother. Can you stay here with me?"
"Listen, how about I finish fixing dinner, feed the twins, and I will be straight back?" She shook her head. That is exactly what I did.
I told Día and Rocco to leave their dishes on the kitchen table after eating and get ready for bed. So, I sat on the bed, hugged her, and reassured her.
"I am sorry about your brother. Your mom told me what happened to him. And no one is ever going to push you down the stairs again. They will have to deal with me if they do." I just sat there and held her for about a half-hour.
"Kamea, I am going to grab something to eat, and I will be right back." After eating, I cleaned up Día and Rocco's dishes, as well as mine. Then, I went back into her room and hugged her again.
"Cris, can you stay with me tonight? I am scared."
"Of course. Do you want to sleep with the lights on or off?"
"As long as you are here with me, I want the lights off."
I didn't worry about changing into night clothes, so I got up and turned off the lights.
"Good night, Kamea."
"Good night, Cris. I love you.'
