After meeting some fans outside of the store, taking pictures and giving out my autograph I head home, much later than I wanted but at least I didn't rush meeting my fans I took time to see how they were, it was the least I could do for them.
Arriving home I head straight to the kitchen, happily mixing my brownies that I agreed to make for dessert, once I am satisfied with my product I have to tear myself away from the kitchen, not only because I wanted to eat them all but I am such a perfectionist and with how nervous and uneasy I felt (in the most positive way possible) I couldn't help but feel that it wasn't good enough.
Going straight to my bedroom I open my laptop and start to browse Netflix for something to watch as I didn't have to get ready for a while and finally decide upon rewatching my favourite episodes from Pretty Little Liars. In reality, it was just background noise as I checked my phone every few seconds to see if there was anything from Shawn and before I knew it I had to hop into the shower and get ready. Once I was out I blow dried my hair and stuck some music on whilst I curled it. Then I sat in front of my mirror as I put minimal makeup on, it consisted of concealer on my under eye bags and blemishes (despite what people believe celebrities do get spots, or at least I do). I then put some mascara and nude eye shadow on. My cheeks were naturally rosy so I didn't bother with any blusher but to finish of I put some pink tinted lip balm on my lips. Smiling at the finished product in the mirror I headed to my wardrobe to choose my outfit for the evening, after pondering over the idea for a while I decided on a lace white skater dress which ended mid thigh and flattered my non existent figure as it hugged the slight curves I had. With the finishing touches of perfume and jewellery I was done, and duly noting that Shawn was going to arrive in half an hour I went out into the garden to check the fairy lights were still working, pleased to see that they were and my plan would hopefully now run very smoothly I skipped inside.

"Eva honey can you please set the cutlery out?" My mum asked as I entered the kitchen, handing them to me and ushering me out. Loosing track of time, as I placed the last spoon down the doorbell went off and my heart started to hammer in my chest.

"I'll get it," I scream to my mum. Taking a deep breath I open the door wide and beam to all the Mendes' except one. Shawn. Where was he?

"Eva, hello dear! You look lovely," exclaimed Mrs Mendes as she came inside, giving me a hug as she enters as Aaliyah and Mr Mendes do the same.

"How are you all?" I ask, getting a reply of "good thank you,"
Forcing myself to not show disappointment Shawn wasn't here yet I lead them to the kitchen where the rest of my family was labouring over dinner. Where was Shawn? Maybe he was stuck in traffic? But surely he would have travelled with his family?

"Eva sweetheart, Shawn isn't-" Mrs Mendes began in a sympathetic tone, abruptly being stopped as my mum screeches;

"Karen, hi!"

Wow. Great timing. Shawn isn't  what? Coming? What else could it be?

Everyone had already occupied themselves, Manny and my dad were in the living room watching some form of sports and my mum and Karen were catching up on the kitchen table. Mr and Mrs Mendes told me to call them by their forename, and I could not feel more proud- it was probably only small but it gave me the satisfaction that they liked me. Aaliyah was playing hockey in the garden with my brother and was surprisingly good, the only person alone was me because my date had abandoned me.
Idly I picked at some of the snacks that were laid out on the kitchen counter, I knew I ought to go be social but at this moment in time these snacks were very inviting.
I suddenly get startled as two large hands cover my eyes and a deep voice says lowly in my ear

"Guess who?"

"Shawn!" I spin round and beam at him.

"The one and only," he smiles down at me, "miss me?"

"I didn't think you were coming! Ugh I feel so stupid for being all mopey! You're mum said isn't and then was interrupted by mine so I though she would have said you weren't coming!"
My slight ramble earns a laugh from Shawn and I swear I could hear that on repeat for the rest of my life.
"No, she was probably going to explain why I wasn't with them!"

"And why was that?" I raise an eyebrow questioningly

"Well, i had to get these..." he turns around a picks up some flowers from behind him on the counter. A bunch of tulips and roses- my two favourites!

"Thank you so much, I love them!" I reach up to give him a hug which he returns in a matter of seconds and it feels so perfect. A perfect moment I would gladly stay in forever as my head snuggles into his chest, listening to his erratic heartbeat, smelling his cologne and feeling his hands run up and down my back.

"Get a room kids," my mum says as she enters the room.

"Mum we were only hugging!" I say blushing.

"It was a very long hug," she says giving me a pointed look, a laugh playing on her face "I was stood here for a minute watching you guys- you're adorable."

"Uh-I um hi, i got these for you!" Shawn says interrupting, blushing the colour of a tomato and scratching the back of his neck whilst he hands a bunch of flowers to my mum.

"Aw thank you honey," she says as she gives him a swift hug "he's a keeper Eva, dinner in the dining room in a few minutes."
My mum smiles at us once more and carries some of the dishes into the dining room.

"I'm sorry about my mum, she can be kind of intense haha"

"It's okay, she's rooting for us Eva. So am I."

"I know Shawn, I just need some time please? I know this must be frustrating for you but I don't know if I'm ready for a relationship again yet," Lies. Being with Shawn was at the moment most definitely the only thing I wanted.

"When you're ready-"

"I'll let you know,"

"I'll be waiting," and without another word he takes my hand as we go into the dining room and join everyone for dinner.

Everyone was already seated, and the remaining two seats were across from each other in the middle of the table which Shawn and I take.
We all begin to fill our plates and the table is filled with animated chatter as my heart continues to hammer in my chest as my surprise dawns closer.
I really hope he likes it...

Hi guys! I'm so so so sorry for the late update, I honestly wanted to update much sooner but I had the worst writers block! I'm slowly getting into this story again and I'm definitely rooting for Shawn and Eva!
Surprise will be revealed in the next chapter😉I'll try be quick in wiring it!
