Chapter seven, Monkeys and Spheres
"Do you think we lost them?" asked the She-goon to her new-found friend.
The other girl shook her head. "No, from what I know about those two, they're probably heading this way now." The girl took off her helmet to reveal her short silver locks and crimson red eyes. "How do you guys do anything is these uniforms?!" she asked in disgust.
"If they are your friends, why are you running from them?" the girl asked. "Are they dangerous?" She seemed genuinely scared.
Paine shook her head. "No, they aren't. Not to me anyway." She sighed "I just...need to start over. It's complicated."
"What if they catch you? What will you do then?" She didn't seem very reassured.
"They won't, because you're going to stall them for me." Said Paine, as she retrieved her sword from the back of the She-goons secret break-room, and gathered a few potions and an elixir.
"I..I am?" the girl sounded terrified; as though Rikku would torture her or something. Paine frowned considering this; Rikku did get a little violent sometimes.
"Don't worry. She won't do anything to you." Paine paused for a minute in thought. "But if she does just give her this message and she'll probably leave you alone."
"Probably?! What if she doesn't?!"
"Don't worry. You'll be fine. If she tries anything, tell her that Dr. P is fine. And that I want her to know I didn't mean to hurt her like this..." she paused "And uh...if she still questions it...tell her the password is Monkey and that when you find a sphere, fiends appear. Got it?"
The girl nodded, desperately trying to remember it all. "Yeah I think so." She sighed "You'd better get going, if you want to make it out on time."
Paine nodded and walked towards the back door; apparently it was an escape route Seymour had built into the manor. That old, dead, weirdo had sure made it convenient for her.
"Oh one more thing." She said turning back to face her new-found friend.
"Yes? What is it?"
"I wanna' know your name."
The girl seemed to frown underneath her helmet. "It's Lydia."
Paine smiled back at her. "If I ever see you again, I'll make this up to you." Then with a nod she left Lydia to prepare herself for what was to come.
A/N Sorry this chapter is so short. And that I missed Friday and Saturday. I DO actually have an explanation this time. I had originally planned on this chapter being much longer, and so I wrote a lot more and spent the time writing instead of posting. And then just now as I finished it, I realized it would work a lot better as two chapters instead of one. So the good news is that since I just finished writing what was originally going to be the rest of the chapter , I can actually post Chapter eight tomorrow, to make up for the missed updates. That's a promise I know I can keep. ^_~ Um...so yeah, please comment. The comments section is 'FOREVER ALONE!' Lol (Seriously a comment will make my day, even if it's a negative one!) Anyway so you can expect more Final Fantasy goodness to come. Keep reading. I love y'all -Reibun
