Shipping and Filler: Prelude to Coffee

So, it's been awhile. The plot isn't really advancing right now. Haven't talk to Nameless in a while. Sometimes, I I wonder what he really looks like.

Not that it really matters, after all, I'm just gonna become plot relevant and move on. I won't need him after that.

I've had some time to think readers, and I have a confession to make. (This is Nameless by the way) I... actually think Marcie is kinda cute. When I first saw her, I felt... like myself. I felt... real.  I can't describe it, but I want to feel that way again.

However, if I ask her out strait up, things may go wrong. Thankfully, I have a buddy who can help me with that, and by buddy, I mean bounty hunter/mercenary The Lucky Bounty Hunter. Damn, these titles suck.

He arrives with an earpiece that allows him to hear me even if I lack a physical form.

"What's the job?" He asks.

"I need to borrow your appearance," I reply.

"Five hundred bucks for that? You're lucky you're considered morally ambiguous and not an outright Villian or this would cost ya a lot more," The Lucky Bounty Hunter smiles.

"Yeah," I reply, "I know, but here's the tricky part. I'm asking out a girl while pretending to be you."

We stand there in silence for a moment until The Lucky Bounty Hunter sighs. "Dude," he replies, "just posses a mortal and say it's you. It's not hard."

"Uh, no," I reply, "dude, trust me, I have this under control."

"No," The Lucky Bounty Hunter replies, "just, just no. I can't take this job. As a friend, trust me on this. You need to practice being yourself anyways."

"Yeah," I play it cool, "maybe you're right. Hey, what's that!?!"

The Lucky Bounty Hunter turns away. I mimic him and flee.

I decide to go out to get some coffee. Now that I'm plot relevant, I can sense auras, and it's taking some getting used to. It really tires me out.

I notice her aura in a coffee shop. I head inside and see her sitting there, with her yellow eyes and massive mandibles...

Oh, wait, I didn't explain that did I? See, there's this race from Reaper Classic's world that an humanoid bugs. She's one of them. Don't judge. She may not be beautiful to you, but she's beautiful to me... did I just put that in the book?

The Lucky Bounty Hunter enters the coffee shop. "Oh," he greets me, "I thought I sensed an aura. You new to the story?"

"Yeah," I reply, "kinda."

"Mind if I join you?" He asks.

Is, is this a date? You know what, why not? My dad hasn't caught on yet, and I don't think he ever will.

"Sure," I smile, "take a seat."

The Lucky Bounty Hunter smiles and sits down...
