彡06 > TRUTH = 1
A U T H O R 'S N O T E !
Finally updated after a long time! For now, my
plan is to finish this book before July rolls around.
Not sure how many chapters this would have, but
considering how I'm plotted in here- might be the
first long-shot book I have :)
+ THIRD PERSON POV
真実 • TELL ME THE TRUTH . .
"Earthquake, can I ask on something?" Solar closes the door behind him as the two steps out into the windy afternoon. The leader nods curtly, as they begun to walk, the soft sound of shoes tapping against the gravel floor.
"Of course. What's it about?"
"It's about Cyclone."
"Your partner?" Lifting a brow, Earthquake slips his hands into the pocket of his trousers, "What about him, Solar? You've both been partners for a long time."
The said boy shook his head, "Not everything. That thoughtless rat is a tough nut to crack, and every time I ask about his past, he'd deny and run away."
"That's Cyclone for you."
"What a coward, honestly." Solar frowns.
Earthquake smiles kindly as he hands the latter a drink he bought from the vending machine, "I might not know much about him, but I do know a few things he might not tell others. What would you like to know?
Sighing, Solar fixes his visors. As much as he wanted to know everything about his partner, it would be impossible. Despite Cyclone's extroverted, teasing nature, nobody seems to know a single thing about the boy's past.
It's peculiar, and he's mysterious. He somehow knows most people or clients they've dealt with, and has a piqued interest towards the Mafia.
Maybe he used to be in the Mafia before?
The chances of having that guess come out true is bigger than the probability of Cyclone working in other places. The tendencies of the boy to joke around with suicidal content, or having pleasure in watching others suffer before him.
What a maniac. Solar's just realized that now.
"His superpower." He blurts out, and stuns the leader as Earthquake pauses on sipping. "What is it? It's nothing I've ever seen before."
"I don't know if I should tell you this.."
Solar blinks, "Even his superpower's a secret?"
"Not exactly." Earthquake sits down next to Solar, who moves an inch away to provide space. They stare at the pigeons pecking bread crumbs on the floor. "It's really nothing dangerous."
"Then why isn't it publicized to us?"
He was referring to their home- their organization. Also known as TAPOPS, standing for The Amazing Package of Powerusing Saviors (it's such a bad name, honestly, Earthquake wasn't the one who made it), it's a legalized office operated under the government's reign.
Solar joined them in 2016, being one of the youngest members. Along with him was Earthquake, to which later they recruited Cyclone after finding him drowning in the river. Just recently, the psychometric Ice followed after.
Though he never asked why the suicidal psycho was to join their supernatural forces, he trusted wholeheartedly in the responsible figurehead.
"Because I respect his privacy," Brown orbs gaze softly into golden ones, and they tear away from each other. "Cyclone's.. more complex than one would think."
Solar hums in reply, "I suppose you're right..."
"However, if you're curious in him, then I can't help it." Earthquake leans over, hands on his knees.
"Are you sure that Cyclone wouldn't mind?"
"Diamonds sharpen other diamonds. For you to improve, you'd need to know this. Besides, you are both partners. There's nothing to hide."
Blinking, the younger agent breaks into a grin. "Okay, pops."
"Not you too." Earthquake rubs his temples, feeling the stress growing somewhere in his head, along with a dull ache. "But anyway, as I was saying.."
Perking up, he inches closer to his leader.
"Cyclone doesn't have a superpower, Solar."
"Ah, that makes se- wait, what?"
Earthquake chuckles at the younger agent's reaction, tossing the empty can into a nearby bin. "That was my initial response too."
Golden orbs widened like saucepans in surprise. "But that's impossible." He says, his brain chugging out more conspiracy theories than the average man would, "I-I saw him with my own two eyes!"
The leader merely retained the smile on his face. "If you doubt the truth, then the lie would eat you. Ask Cyclone himself- I might be misinformed too."
"Ah, shall we go?" Earthquake adds, staring at the digital watch on his left wrist. "We might be late to the council meeting."
"S-Sure." Solar stammers, "Yeah. Let's go."
All in his heart and mind is the disbelief.
Deep inside him, he felt as if it was the truth.
"Ice! You're finally here!"
Lo and behold, a figure waves at the yawning boy that had just trudged into the officer without a single sound. This is who Solar constantly refers to as the 2016's parading, killer clown.
Grinning, the boy runs to Ice's side and engulfs him in a hug. "What are you doing- get the hell off me."
Cyclone pouts, letting go of the tight embrace, "You're no fun~!" He sing-sangs, "Anyway, good morning! You have bags underneath your eyes. Oh, you kind of remind me of a panda! Hahah!"
Day 1, Ice blinks sleepily, And I'm getting bullied already.
"Oh by the way," Two hands clasps themselves on the sleepy agent's shoulder, "We have a mission to do! I know, it's your first day- but we, as the blue-eyed duos, have a case to solve!"
"I just came here.."
"Fact check; nobody cares!" Cyclone's already going out the door, dragging Ice by the collar, who groans at the response, "Come on! You should be super excited for this one. It's about a gir-"
"No." Ice tries to scramble forward. He isn't exactly keen on doing physical missions, especially when he's currently the Mafia's main target. "I don't trust you."
Of course, who would trust a delusional, suicidal guy?
Not that Ice is against it or anything, but his safety is at the outmost risk. He had zero information on what Cyclone is capable of, other than his obnoxious personality and loud blabbermouth.
With a scowl, the younger latter smacks Ice by the back of the head. "Please! I only have one job, and it's to bring you to Solar and Earthquake."
"Fail it then." Ice retorts back, "I'm going to sleep."
