Chapter 240: Divorce Part 2 REVAMPED
After everything that went down with Pepper, Peter had been scared to return; it was pretty cut and dry, he didn't want to see his mother. Meanwhile Tony wanted to make things right. He wants Peter to have a good relationship with his mother.
He'd already been through a lot due to the divorce, Tony didn't want him to regret it. So as the man drove to Pepper's house, he couldn't stop thinking about the much pain and anger that was in Peter's eyes. Tony got to the door and knocked, watching as his ex opened the door. "We need to talk." He stated.
She stepped aside to let him in and they walked to the kitchen. Pepper slid a mug of coffee and stood on opposite sides of the island. "So you said we had to talk?" She asked.
"Yes, I'm not gonna sugarcoat it. But our son called me, panicking and crying, wanting to come home."
The woman rolled her eyes, "Then there isn't really anything to discuss."
Tony noted her reaction, "Peter tried telling you he wanted to spend more time with you. And you responded by dismissing and disregarding his feelings. It's hard enough on him from jumping from my place to yours."
"That child became disrespectful, yelling at me, if it weren't for my job I wouldn't have a roof over our heads." She said,
"First off that's the bare minimum, you are his mother. Peter is a good and responsible kid. He got angry because you weren't listening to his concern."
"He doesn't want to be around you. He's afraid and isn't sure you love him, so if you wanna make things right with him, I suggest you find a way to do so." Tony explained.
Figuring that there wasn't anything left to say, Tony stood up, heading towards the door. Not knowing what was going on with her, he drove home to spend time with Peter.

Peter hadn't spoken to his mother since the incident, Tony told him he talked to Peter a few days ago, he thought maybe she'd apologize and they could rekindle their relationship. Oh who was he kidding? Pepper was too stubborn to admit she was wrong.
So as Peter sat, waiting for his dad to pick him up, Eugene sat down next to him on the steps leading into school. Like they always did. "Hey E." Peter greeted.
"Hi Peter." He replied back.
"How'd it go with your parents?" Peter asked.
He smiled, "It went well actually, thanks for the advice."
Peter chuckled softly, "You're the one who gave me advice."
Eugene mimed his friend's reaction, "Oh, then I'll pat myself on the back."
Peter rolled his eyes, sarcastically pointing out, "That's not egotistical whatsoever." The two continued their chat and waited for their respective parents to show up. Seeing them pull up then said their goodbyes.
"Hey Dad." Peter fixed his backpack strap on his shoulder, smiling.
"Hey kiddo. C'mon, the team is waiting for us." He said.
The father and son got into the car and drove home, remembering he needed to check the mailbox, grabbing a letter and other junk mail. He opened it and read it. The team saying their hello's, Peter noticed his father's expression.
He questioned, "Dad, are you okay?"
Tony looked at him with sympathy laced across his face. "Dad, what's wrong?"
Tony sighed, "Your mother just sent me a letter from her lawyer stating that I could have full custody of you, she doesn't want visitation."
Tears pricked the teen's eyes and Peter wanted desperately to scream but he couldn't, everything he thought was true. His mom really doesn't love him anymore. "Oh, bambino."
"I... um I need a minute." Peter dashed off to his room trying not to just sob in front of his dad and the team.
A few minutes went by and there was a knock on the door and Tony spoke, "Kiddo, please let me in."
Peter didn't know how to do anything. He just cried, closing his eyes, Tony came into the room sitting down on his bed, pulling his son into his arms. "It's alright bud, I'm here."
Peter cried into his father's chest, "E.. Everything I thought was true."
"What do you mean Peter?" He asked.
"She d.. doesn't love me anymore. She g.. gave me up." He didn't say anything, except hold him and kiss his forehead.
Tony combed through Peter's hair, "I'm so sorry bud, but I promise that I love you so much. Haven't stopped since the day you were born, and if your mom doesn't see that, then it's her loss. We don't need to apologize for anything."
"I know exactly what kind of person you are. I absolutely love the person you're growing up to be, because I know I'm doing something right."
Peter hugged Tony tighter, "I love you too Dad." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
