He deserved it
So in here I'm using something that I've seen around. It's where Peter and Tony use Morse code to talk to each other when they either can't, or don't feel like talking. And/or for calming each other down. Italics are the Morse code speak.
------------
Peter waited anxiously outside the school for Happy to pick him up.
Today was Thursday, so he wasn't planning on going to the tower, but then Happy texted and said they needed him asap.
When Happy pulled up, Peter jogged over, opening the door, and sliding into the seat.
"What's wrong? Is Mr Stark okay?"
The bodyguard didn't answer.
"Uh... Happy? What happened? Is everything okay?"
The other sighed. "No. But I'm about to punch someone."
Peter frowned. "Why? What happened?"
Happy glanced in the mirror before pulling out on the road. "Because the rogues are coming to the compound. Something to do with fixing the Accords. And Tony is panicking about it. Pepper though maybe you could calm him down."
Peter went silent. He was angry, he admitted. Not at Tony, no. But at the ones who'd hurt him.
"Do I have your permission to punch Cap in the face?" Peter piped up.
Happy snorted. "Help yourself."
------------
They were greeted at the front by Pepper herself, who immediately ushered him inside.
"Tony locked himself in his lab, and told Friday not to let me in."
Peter tossed his backpack in his room, continuing to the lab. It was still locked when he got there.
Peter looked up at the ceiling. "Fri, open up."
The AI complied, the door hissing open.
Tony was on the couch, head in his hands, gasping for breath.
Peter immediately sank to his knees beside him. "Mr Stark? Are you okay?"
It seemed like Tony didn't hear him, the older man trembling, trying to quell the panic.
Peter rested one hand on Tony's wrist, one hand in Tony's own, his finger gently tapping against the palm.
It's okay.
Tony drags in a breath, hands reaching desperately for Peter's.
Steve. Here.
Peter bit his lip. Oh.
I know. He won't hurt you. I'm here.
"What are you seeing?" He asked again. "Where are you?"
Tony took a minute to answer, mind still lost. "S-Siberia. So cold. Hurts."
Peter started tapping again.
You're not there. You're here, with me. Peter.
He hesitated, then slowly, as if afraid of rejection, he hugged Tony.
Tony's arms went around him automatically. They stayed that way for several minutes before Tony's breathing slowed, his eyes losing the unfocused look.
"Pete?"
Peter nodded into Tony's shoulder. "Mm. You okay?"
Tony closed his eyes. "I will be. It happened again?"
Peter pulled back, balancing on his heels. "Yeah. Is it the team returning? Or Steve?"
Tony rubbed the back of his neck, not meeting Peter's eyes. "Everyone."
Peter moved to the couch beside Tony, leaning his head on Tony's shoulder.
"Its okay, you know. You don't have to see them."
Tony ran a hand through his hair. "Yeah I do. Got to welcome them, or something like that."
The teenager was silent for several seconds. "I'll go with you."
"Pete-"
"Nope," Peter said firmly. "I'm going with you. I don't even have to say hello. Even though I want to punch America Man in his perfect teeth. But it might help if you know I'm there."
Tony shook his head. "America Man?"
Peter grinned. "Yup. So he has been dubbed."
Tony sighed. "Okay. But don't show them your spider side. I don't trust any of them."
Peter bit his lip. "Natasha already knows. What if she says something?"
Then he shook his head. "She probably won't. Are you okay now, da- Mr Stark?"
Tony rested his head on Peter's. "Yeah. Hopefully I won't break down in front of them."
Peter glanced up. "That's what I'll be there for."
-------------
Tony was scared.
He was so scared.
He was standing in the same room as the rogues, all watching each other.
He was conscious of Peter standing behind him, the teenager's lack of movement oddly disconcerting.
"Tony." Steve said quietly.
Tony returned his gaze. "Rogers."
Natasha looked at Peter. "Hello мой паук."
"No," he said softly. "Please don't."
Her eyes flashed with a brief glimpse of hurt, then it was masked.
It was Clint who broke the awkward silence. "So are we going to figure things out or what?"
Tony jerked his head towards the conference table. "Be my guest."
They all took their seats, subconsciously separating into two groups.
Team Cap on one side. Team Ironman on the other.
Peter leaned against the wall, out of their line of sight.
------------
Things were going smoothly.
Then Steve brought up Spiderman.
"If we have to sign, he should too. He's an unknown force."
Peter tensed at that, only relaxing when Tony spoke. "He doesn't work under the jurisdiction of the government. He doesn't cause harm to the city. He doesn't hurt people. Why should he sign?"
Steve leaned forward. "It doesn't matter what you think, Stark. He's unknown. That makes him a threat."
Tony scoffed. "Really? And you're not? Remind me again, who is it that went rogue?"
Steve stiffened. "All I'm saying is that he needs to be controlled, or there will be collateral damage."
Tony gripped his armrests. "So now you're on board with controlling enhanced beings?"
Peter could see Wanda stiffen, her eyes darting to Steve.
"What are you afraid of, Rogers?" Tony continued. "He isn't doing any harm. Heck, he's probably saved more people than you. And now you want to control him? You were so against everything the accords stood for, and now you want him imprisoned? What about Wanda? Shes an enhanced being. Do you want her controlled?"
Steve looked uncomfortable. "Of course not, but-"
Tony cut him off. "Then what's so different about Spiderman?"
Steve slammed his hand down on the table. "I don't trust him! No one knows who he is, or what he is! He's a freak! A mutant! Who you brought in to the fight." He ignored Clint telling him to stop. "It's your bad decisions that put us here."
Peter noticed Tony flinching at the loud noise, and decided it was time to step in.
"Shut up." His voice was quiet, but everyone heard the steel behind it.
Steve's eyebrow lifted. "What are you doing here, kid?"
Peter folded his arms. "I'm here for moral support. And to step in if you start being an arrogant jerk."
Tony raised his head. "Pete."
Peter ignored him, watching Steve, who rolled his eyes. "He has to have someone protecting him now does he?"
Behind him, they could hear Natasha suck in a breath. "Oh. He should not have said that."
Peter reacted faster than anyone could see.
There was a flash of movement, a thud, a yelp of pain, and suddenly Steve was stumbling backwards clutching his nose, which was spurting blood.
Peter glared at him. "Shut up."
Natasha choked on her drink.
Steve stared in horror at the blood on his hands. "What the-"
He looked back at his team. "Are you not going to do anything?"
Sam's eyes widened, and he shrugged guiltily. "I mean, you kinda deserved it Cap."
The rest of the team nodded along.
Peter rubbed his neck. "Sorry Mr Stark. I'll uh... go."
He exited the room, dodging people as he headed toward the garage, grabbing his stuff before going to the car. Happy was leaning against it on the phone.
"Happy!" Peter called. "I need an escape route!"
Happy straightened up. "Okay...?"
------------
They were halfway to Peter's apartment before Happy put the car on auto drive, letting Friday take over. "Did you punch Rogers?"
Peter rubbed his hands together nervously. "Kind of."
Happy looked over his sunglasses. "Kind of?"
Peter's head thudded back against the head rest. "I slammed his head into the table. After yelling at him."
Happy looked shocked for several seconds before he started laughing.
"I wish I could have seen his face."
Peter grinned, somewhat awkwardly. "Friday, pull up the footage."
They both watched in HD perfection as Peter stepped forward, grabbed Steve's head, and slammed it into the table.
Both winced at the cracking sound.
Peter hit his head against the window. "I shouldn't have done that. I'm going to be in such trouble."
Happy resumed driving. "May understands the situation, right?"
Peter sighed. "Sort of."
Happy pursed his lips. "Show her the footage."
Peter didn't answer.
------------
May opened the door, her eyes worried, taking him in. "Peter? What's wrong? Is everything okay? Happy said-"
Happy walked in behind Peter. "Hello Ms Parker."
She paled. "Is something wrong?"
He shrugged. "Peter got mad. Captain America deserved what he got."
She went, if possible, even whiter.
"Dont worry," Happy said quietly. "He'll be fine. And don't blame Peter. Cap was being a star spangled jerk."
Peter disappeared into the shower while Happy showed May the video.
When Peter came out, Happy was gone, and May was waiting for him.
Her lips were a thin line, and she looked furious.
Peter hesitated. "May?"
He was surprised when she pulled him into a hug. "That guy was a jerk. I'm proud of you."
"Thanks..." Peter mumbled. "Mr Stark's gonna be mad though."
She rubbed his back soothingly. "Don't worry. He'll understand."
-------------
Happy was waiting when he got out of school Friday.
Peter walked over dejectedly, sliding in without looking up. "Is Mr Stark mad?" He asked quietly.
"Why don't you ask me yourself?"
Peter's head shot up. "Mr Stark?"
Tony was in the seat beside him. "Why'd you do that, kid?"
Peter rubbed the back of his neck. "I shouldn't have."
Tony touched Peter's shoulder. "Hey. Look at me."
Peter looked up, his eyes meeting Tony's.
Tony's eyes were soft, with a hint of amusement. "I'm not mad at you, kid. I'm not mad. Okay? America Man was being a jerk. But I wasn't asking why you did it. I'm asking why you ran."
Peter sighed. "Because he was hurting you. And I hated that they were treating you like that. No one treats my dad like that."
There was an awkward silence, and Peter realized what he'd just said.
Crap.
His head shot up, eyes panicky. "I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to-"
He was cut off by Tony pulling him into a hug.
"You're not weirded out?"
Tony shook his head quickly. "No, of course not. I'm proud to call you my kid."
Peter relaxed into the hug. "You sure you're not just grabbing the door for me?"
Tony chuckled. "Nope. We're there."
