A few months ago my friends shared this song with me, and I immediately felt a connection to it. This is now one of my favorite songs, and I thought it would make a good one-shot.

Tony walks around his lab, looking at the pictures of some and Peter hanging on the walls.

"Peter, if you can hear me, I want to tell you I miss you. I wish I got to know you better, and I regret pushing you away, " Tony mutters to himself.

Tony walks over to the display case showing Peter's first suit. On the bottom of the case, it says "dedicated to the boy who showed no fear in saying anything he needed to express himself." The case was going to be revealed at a press conference this weekend.

We'll open all the gates

Tony thought about how Peter was never scared to go into danger if it meant he could save people. Had also thought about how if he had stopped Peter from opening that door, Peter would be standing here with him instead of going off into the light as Tony watched his son die in his arms.

I've never felt so enlightened

Tony thought about how taking care of Peter changed him. How Peter saved Tony from himself.

With every page I turn
I only find myself feeling more alone

Tony thinks about how every day without Peter gets harder to bear. He thinks about Peter's smile and his constant rambling and how it makes Tony miss Peter even more.

Posing questions to a silent universe

Tony asks the universe why it has to be so cruel, and why it has to be so hard on the sweetest child Tony has ever met.

My very thoughts a curse
They just seem to multiply
Forever in my mind

Tony tries to push down the thoughts that are telling him it is his fault Peter is dead knowing Peter would not want him to think like that. Tony still blames himself for Peter's death. It was his job to protect Peter, and he promised May he would keep Peter safe.

Brother, don't grow up
Brother, please never grow up

Tony thinks about how Peter grew up to fast, and he thinks about how Peter should have never seen some of the things he did that caused him to grow up quicker than he should have.

Hold out against the night
Guard your hope with your life

Tony thinks about how Peter never lost his hope or his fighting spirit even when it felt like they were not going to make it.

For the darkness, she will come
Oh and you'll have nowhere left to run

Tony thinks about how the darkness finally got to Peter, and how it destroyed his light.

Oh but your eyes are wider than mine
And help me to sleep

Tony thinks about Peter's eyes. His big bambi eyes that Tony misses so much.

I just hope that age does not erase
All that you see

Tony thinks about how Peter always stayed young, and how Peter never lost his childlike attitude.

Don't let bitterness become you

Tony thinks about how Peter was the sweetest boy he ever knew. Tony also thinks about how Peter refused to kill because he believed there was good in everyone.

Your only hopes are all within you

Tony thinks about how Peter never stopped hoping.

Hold out against the night
Guard your hope with your life

Tony thinks about the ways he will continue helping people, and how he will continue protecting Peter's legacy and the things he stood for.

The day after the press conference a new headline came out.

"Tony Stark's Frozen Heart Melted By Deceased 15-Year-Old Peter Parker."
