Reversal of Roles

Description: What if Tony got dusted on Titan?

A/N: I got the inspo by someone else who did it. What? I wanted to do it too but with my spin. There will be a lot of time skips.

Words: 4315 (umm... it's quite lengthy for me)

Peter could tell something else was going to happen the second everyone started to disappear around him.

"Peter?"

Peter's head whipped to look dead into the eyes of his father who was looking down at his hand which was starting to crumble.

"DAD!"

Peter scrambled to grab onto his father to try and put him back together. Tony however knew what was about to happen. The man grabbed Peter's face just as his hands blew away.

"I love you" Tony had said before placing a small kiss on Peter's forehead before completely disappearing.

Gone with the wind.

A pained look crossed over Peter's face fully expecting himself to disappear as well.

But it never happened.

"Let's get you out of here" Nebula mumbled kneeling down next to Peter who was frozen.

"Yeah okay" Peter replied numbly allowing the blue robot lady to lead him towards the ship.

Many days past for Peter and all his body did was deteriorate due to his metabolism. Peter's hand held on tightly to the arc that didn't disappear with his dad. His mind slowly became foggy and everything was hard to process.

"Hey papa. I don't know if you'll ever get this message. It's been twenty-one days since we lost power. Food already ran out. Air runs out tomorrow. Hopefully I won't be awake when I.... pass on. I know I sound hopeless, but I can't help it. My body really is working against me in this situation...... I lost dad. He left in my arms. Now I'm afraid that I'll never see your face again so maybe if you recover my body you'll see this message. Hopefully this will be good enough of a goodbye. I have a lot to say to you but I don't know how to say it. At least I'm not alone. With a guardian. Names Nebula. Definitely the reason I'm still sane. Papa, I love you. Do me one favour. One is all I ask. Don't give up hope. Try and bring everyone back if you can. Do it for me. Y'know, part of the journey is the end. Oh... thank Pepper for carrying my sibling. I never actually thanked her. Should definitely let her pick the name. Peter, signing off for the last time"

Peter clicked off the helmets power before wiping away a tear that has made its way down his dirty face.

He laid down on the ground, pulling a jacket over him as a means of warmth. His arms, way too skinny, being used as his pillow. He held the arc close to him finally falling asleep. For what he expected to be the last time.

"Peter, signing off for the last time"

Steve had fallen to his knees halfway through the transmission. The sound of his sons voice giving him hope. But all that left hearing the situation.

The second the message came through, Steve had sent Carol to the strange coordinates. The woman had quickly taken off seeing the pure desperation on the fathers face.

"Not him too.." Steve muttered fo himself before looking at Pepper who was kneeling down next to him with a small smile on her face.

"All we can do is hope that Carol won't be too late" Pepper said rubbing Steve's shoulder.

"Thank you Pepper. You don't understand how much I appreciate you" Steve responded pulling Pepper into his arms.

Pepper said nothing but just held Steve close trying to help the man feel better. I guess it kinda did as she felt Steve's hand cradle the barely there baby bump. She pressed a kiss to Steve's hair just trying to bring him some sort of piece in his situation.

Later on, Steve stood in the bathroom just finishing shaving his beard. He looked himself in the mirror trying to figure out what he could've done better. The whole entire day had passed and they've gotten nothing from Carol.

Steve looked up at the sudden shaking of the mirror. He looked up expecting the worst before running outside.

What Steve didn't expect was for Carol to be outside carrying a spaceship. A small spark of hope flared in Steve's chest when he saw and he sent a quick prayer that his son was alive inside.

His prayers were quickly answered when a hatch opened to a blue lady supporting Peter as he tried to walk. Steve nearly started sobbing right there and then.

The father ran forward taking Peter from the blue lady before pulling him into his arms.

"Oh my baby boy" Steve whispered taking in the feeling of Peter being in his arms.

"I lost dad" Peter whimpered pulling back to look into his papa's eyes which were brimming with tears.

"No honey. It's not your fault. We lost. We'll fix it" Steve protested lifting Peter into his arms in order to get him some help.

Peter was slowly trying to eat food while the other talked about a plan. The teen was sitting in a wheelchair with a portable IV drip attached to his arm.

"What about him? He's bound to have something" Carol said gesturing to Peter which caused the teen to flinch.

"I don't have anything" Peter replied shaking his head a biting at his nails.

"C'mon kid you've gotta have something. Coordinates, plans, something. You spent the most time around Thanos" Carol insisted not realizing that all she was doing was angering Peter.

"If I knew where Thanos was do you think I would just be sitting here?" Peter growled looking up with a dangerous look in his eyes.

"Well you are pretty... meh"

"Let me tell you something Carol. I have nothing. I have nothing but the tarnished body to show what I went through" Peter stood up ripping the IV out of his arm, "I am sixteen fucking years old. I watched my dad fade to dust in my arms. I had a moon thrown at me. I was slammed against the ground" Peter pulled the arc out of his arm before aggressively putting it in Carol's hand, "you take this when you find Thanos. You.... do something. Just leave me out of your problems" Peter had fallen in exhaustion making everyone run to him.

"Peter slow down" Rhodey said grabbing Peter's shoulders which was slapped off.

"I'm fine" Peter grumbled before his vision went black and he passed out.

By the time Peter came to, his papa was sitting next to him with a grim expression on his face while Pepper was running a hand through his hair.

"What happened?" Peter asked trying to sit up. Steve was quick to push him back down.

"We found Thanos. I'm sorry kid. He destroyed the stones. There's no way to bring everyone back" Steve regretfully stated shattering Peter's heart.

"No. NO! You're lying! Please tell me you're lying papa" Peter pleases as he started sobbing with the sadness of never seeing his dad again.

"We're sorry Pete. So so sorry" Pepper added pressing a kiss to Peter's forehead.

"No. I never got to say goodbye. He disappeared before I could. His last words were telling me that he loved me. No papa, I want him back. I want dad" Peter cried rubbing his eyes trying to stop his crying.

"I'm sorry. I wish I could bring him back for you buachaill linbh" Steve mumbled kissing Peter's forehead wanting to stop his sons suffering.

☆ Time Skip ☆

Time went on with a sort of greyness to it. Like a part of Peter's world had lost its colour. But he tried to move on. But, Peter couldn't help but want to make himself better.

Everything change the day Peter's little sister was born.

Peter was one of the first people to hold Morgan and it would be a lie to say that Peter didn't cry when he saw the deep coffee brown of her eyes.

Steve sat right next to Peter admiring both his kids. The little tuft of brown hair sitting in the baby's head was enough to make the man cry in happiness.

His little boy and his little girl.

Pepper was more than happy to allow them as much time as possible and even though she is technically Morgan's mother, she wanted to be known as Auntie Pepper. Both boys were more than happy to agree to her wishes.

When Morgan was a year old, she was already running around their family cottage. So naturally the day she turned one was the day she chose to say her first word.

"Pet'a"

Both Steve and Peter whipped their head towards the baby girl who was sitting in her chair with smushed cake all around her.

"What was that neonata?" Peter questioned pulling out his phone to record.

"Pet'a!" Morgan squealed reaches out trying to grab Peter's face.

"HA! IN YOUR FACE POPS!" Peter exclaimed standing straight to point the camera at Steve's face which had a bright smile plastered on it.

"Looks like you win this battle Pete" Steve brushed it off but was internally squealing.

When Morgan was two, it was Peter's birthday when she was the reason for his happiness.

Peter sat at the edge of the dock, now a full fledged adult, wiping his eyes. It's been two years since everyone had vanished and Peter couldn't help but find himself wishing his dad was there to spend the day with him. Making bad jokes about how he was old now.

"Go make him happy Cailín beag" Steve whispered in Morgan's ear who immediately started running towards her Peter.

"BE HAPPY!" Morgan yelled pushing Peter off the dock and into the lake.

Peter fell in with a loud yell before popping back up to find Morgan wearing her favourite Spider-Man dress nearly wetting herself from laughing so hard.

Peter couldn't help but smile because his sister just always made him happy.

When Morgan was three, she finally learned about Steve and Peter's alternate identities.

"So you like Spider-Man more than Captain America right neonata?" Peter asked nudging Steve with his elbow.

"No way. She's gotta like the Captain more than the arachnid" Steve protested earning a snort from the girl on the ground.

"I like them both equally" Morgan decided waving the toys in their faces.

"But wouldn't you like Spider-Man more considering the fact that" Peter flipped upside-down and stuck to the ceiling, "I am him".

"Now that's cheating. Morgan, papa is actually" Steve pulled out his shield from under the couch, "Captain America".

Morgan was frozen in place before deciding on one thing.

"I choose Iron-Man"

When Morgan turned four, she finally understood that she had two dads but would always ask where one was.

"Is he watching over us?" Morgan asked looking up at the stars while she sat in Peter's lap.

"Yeah. I guess his is. Probably wondering why you're not asleep" Peter agreed before aggressively tickling the girls sides earning loud squeals of delight.

Peter put her down and tucked her into bed with a long kiss on her forehead.

"Will I ever get to meet daddy?" Morgan questioned right before Peter left the room.

"Maybe hunny. You aren't the only one who wants to see him again. Now go to bed, you might see him in your dreams" Peter replied before closing the door.

He slowly made his way downstairs before dramatically falling on the couch on top of Steve who grunted at the sudden impact.

"She ask about Tony again?" Steve asked putting down his book to look at the saddened face of his son.

"I just don't know how to tell her that she won't ever get to meet him" Peter sighed going limp as Steve ran his hand through his hair.

"She'll understand when she's older. For now, let's just enjoy the peace we have"

"Okay papa"

☆ Time Skip ☆

"CHOW TIME!" Peter yelled plopping down on the chair outside of Morgan's tent.

"Morgan Sarah Maria Stark-Rogers it's lunch time" Peter said in a more assertive voice.

"Define lunch or be disintegwated" Morgan threatened coming out of the tent with her tiny IronMan glove on and the helmet of the suit that Peter and Tony had made for Pepper.

"Whoa hold on there honey bunny" Peter gasped pulling the helmet off of Morgan's head, "it's lunch time. How 'bout a handful of crickets on a bed of lettuce"

"No"

"Oh c'mon that's totally what you want"

"Now where did you get this little missy?" Peter asked holding the helmet up next to his face.

"I found it" Morgan squeaked hopping on her toes slightly.

"You found it huh? Going in the garage again I see" Peter sighed before picking Morgan up, "that's fine. I do too. So did daddy".

Peter stopped walking at the sight of Natasha, his pops, and Scott Lang. Peter could tell by their stances that something serious was happening.

"Go inside with Auntie Pepper hunny"

☆ Time Skip ☆

"Look I hate to break it to you but that's not my forté. It was my dads. Plus time travel? This isn't back to the future!" Peter argued slouching back in his chair chugging his chocolate milk.

"It's not necessarily time travel. It's more a time heist to a degree" Scott shot back leaning forward trying to be as serious as possible.

"Tony once described you as someone who has a mind that rivals his. Probably more advanced. Peter, he knew you would be able to accomplish something like this" Natasha added earning only a quick side eye from the twenty-one year old.

Before anyone else could say anything, Morgan came running out and climbing into Peter's lap.

"Auntie Pepper told me to come and save you"

"Good job. I'm saved" Peter mumbled before kissing the side of Morgan's head, "Look. I can't help you. I'm not losing what I have here. I'd suggest that you leave".

Peter simply walked back into the house leaving the three people outside to watch him retreat up the stairs.

"Are you okay Petey?"

"I will be Morgan"

Peter stared at the image before with a look of pure shock plastered over his face.

"Shit!"

"Shit"

Peter stiffened a bit before turning around to find Morgan sitting on the stairs.

"What are you doing up little miss?" Peter asked in a hushed voice trying to not to alert Pepper.

"Shit"

"No. No. That word has been coined by Auntie Pepper so nobody else can say it" Peter panicked internally cringing.

"Why are you up?" Morgan questioned giving a cheeky smile.

"Well I've got some important shit going on" Peter exclaimed making Morgan turn her head in confusion.

Peter quickly conceded with the offer of juice pops before taking Morgan back upstairs to her bed.

"Tell me a story" Morgan demanded rubbing some hair out of her face.

"Hmm.. did I ever tell you about how I convinced daddy to propose to papa?" Peter asked raising an eyebrow earning a, "no" from
Morgan.

"Well. I had slipped a ring into papa's sandwich at a dinner and neither of them knew. When papa found it, dad was just as confused. But daddy was a pretty suave person when he wanted to be. He played it off and proposed. Later on I told them it was me. At least it worked" Peter retold the story making random hand gestures throughout.

"That's funny" Morgan giggled covering her mouth.

"Alright sweets. You go to bed now or I'm selling all your toys"

"I love you 3000"

"Not to brag or anything Pep. But Morgan loves me 3000. Last time I checked you were in the low six to nine hundred area" Peter bragged with a smirk as he laid his head down on Pepper's chest.

"Of course she does. Now let's talk about your little project over there" Pepper jumped straight to the problem at hand making Peter grimace.

"I figured it out Pep. I figured out time travel" Peter mumbled loving the fingers running through his hair.

"And what are you going to do with it?" Pepper asked waiting patiently as Peter hesitates.

"I'd much rather just go to bed and pretend I never discovered any of that" Peter replied.

"But can you really rest?"

Peter paused when Pepper asked that. He never actually replied as he just laid there in silence before making a quiet decision to himself.

☆ Time Skip ☆

Peter stared at the finished gauntlet wondering how everything that had happened came to this moment.

"One chance. We can bring everyone back. Honestly we owe it to everyone that's not in this room to try"

Natasha and Clint came back cackling making everyone wonder what had happened, he met his grandpa which was really strange, Peter almost blew his cover when he snorted loudly when Scott mentioned his papa's butt being "America's ass", he saw his young self running around following Tony like some sort of lost puppy. It was all very strange.

But now, it all came this moment, the moment that will hopefully bring everyone back.

"FRIDAY commence the barn doors protocol for me"

"On it"

The compound went on lockdown as Bruce put on the gauntlet. A holographic shield formed as Peter's new suit fully formed around him.

Bruce snapped his fingers right as Peter's senses skyrocketed. Bruce fell to the floor and despite his internal flight program telling him to run, he fell to the floor and iced over Bruce's wound to heal it slightly.

A phone started ringing in the background but Peter couldn't stop his mind from ringing.

Look up

"RUN!" Peter yelled right as the compound exploded.

Everyone was scattered and frantic voices were yelling through the coms. Unconsciously, Peter found himself standing next to his pops and Thor as they stared down at Thanos.

"How long has he been sitting there?" Peter asked cutting the silence.

"Long enough" Steve replied.

"Good. Let's kill him properly this time" Thor added summoning StormBreaker and Mjölnir to him.

The three heroes slowly approached Thanos who seemed unphased by three of the most powerful coming towards him.

"You couldn't live with the life I gave you. All your decisions just lead back to me" Thanos bellowed standing up to face them.

"This is our lives. We're not letting you win a second time" Peter said standing tall hoping onto some rubble for a vantage point.

"As always I will just have to fix it again. Luckily, you won't be there to see it" Thanos hissed before blocking a hit from Thor.

All three quickly attacked the Titan moving like a machine. From the lightning from Thor, the punches and heavy shield hits from Steve, and the webs or energy blasts from Peter, the Titan was slowly beginning to lose.

Until he wasn't.

Thanos has grabbed Peter by his head and legs, fully ready to end his life there, before Mjölnir hit him making Thanos throw Peter off to the side.

When Peter came to, there was multiple portals with all the fallen people coming through them. Slowly, an army was forming on their side in order to fight against Thanos.

Peter quickly swung over to join everyone but was surprised to see his pops holding Mjölnir.

"AVENGERS!" Steve yelled preparing everyone for what was about to happen.

"ASSEMBLE!"

Peter wasted no time running forwards staying right near the front. He quickly pushed himself upwards before slamming his fist into the ground causing a shockwave and a bunch of webs to shoot out from his fist trapping many aliens.

Now Peter had never been one for killing, but the second the those webs hit something that wasn't of Earth, the webs corroded them to death.

Peter however didn't turn fast enough when one of the larger aliens slammed him to the ground and even though Peter shot at it, nothing could make it falter.

Right as the alien lifting it's fist, a red and gold suit slammed into the alien making it fall right before a giant Scott stepped on it ultimately killing it.

Tony quickly helped Peter stand back up and was shocked into silence at his sons appearance.

"Oh you're so grown up Petey-Pie" Tony breathed out before pulling Peter tightly into his arms.

"I missed you dad" Peter mumbled loving the feeling of the kiss placed on his temple.

"Missed you too bud. Now let's go win this war" Tony said before lifting Peter off and throwing him right as Peter told him to let go.

Peter landed once again sending off a large shockwave smiling at the fact that when his webs hit one of the Wakandan's, it healed some of the wounds.

Peter halted to a stop at the sight of Dr. Strange.

"Hey. You said that there was one in fourteen million outcomes that we win. Is this it?" Peter questioned ignoring the slight moment of surprise when Strange saw Peter's older form.

"If I told you that it wouldn't happen" Strange chose to say which just earned a nod before Peter went running back into the fight.

Peter had been destroying aliens left and right when the blue beams started shooting at the ground. But what Peter wasn't expecting was a form to jump on top of him.

When the beams stopped, Peter was surprised to see his Uncle Bucky helping him back up.

"Stop getting older kid" Bucky joked punching Peter's shoulder despite the situation.

"Sorry old man. Can't help it" Peter bit back laughing at the fake offended face Bucky gave him before running away.

Peter didn't miss the sight of all the woman defeating the aliens being led my Natasha. But he had to stay focused.

His whole world halted at the sight of Thanos getting his hands on the gauntlet. The arachnid wasted no time running forwards and trying to pry the gauntlet away. But he was thrown back.

As Carol attacked Thanos again, Peter and Strange made eye contact. Peter's heart sank when he saw Strange holding up one finger at him. Peter knew what that meant.

With a deep breath, Peter ran forward again prying the stones from the gauntlet without him knowing. Peter was in a lot of pain the moment he grabbed them.

"I am... inevitable" Thanos said before snapping his fingers. A shocked expression passed over his face by only a clink following.

Peter lifted his hands letting the stones slot into place. 'Well. I did build this suit in case this would happen' Peter grimly thought as he gained control.

"Watch the hands asshole. Not the eyes"

And Peter snapped his fingers.

A searing pain spread through his whole body but in a way, Peter found it comforting knowing that if he did it, everyone would be safe.

The spider scrambled for purchase and slid down on a piece of rubble trying to regain his thoughts. Despite the pain and how light Peter felt, he was determined not to die just yet.

"Pete? Peter can you hear me?" Tony's voice cut through his thoughts and Peter couldn't help but smile again at the sight of his dads face.

"Loud and clear" Peter whispered a little delusional but still there.

"Are you feeling okay?" Steve asked lifting Peter up in order to get him to the medics.

"I'll be okay. Just need a little help please" Peter replied before letting his world go black.

☆ Time Skip ☆

When he woke up, Peter was alone. But it wasn't for very long. The door swung open not even two seconds later and the sight of Morgan made him smile.

"You're awake" the girl gasped gently touching the side of Peter's face.

"We got here as soon as we could. Did you do it Pete?" Happy asked moving a chair to sit by Peter's side.

"I'd like to think so" a voice replied from the door.

Peter smiled again at the sight of both of his dads, hand in hand, cams walking into the room. Both with a decent amount of bandages but thankfully not too much.

"Who's that man holding papa's hand?" Morgan asked in Peter's ear raising an eyebrow at him when he snorted.

"C'mon neonata. I've shown you many pictures of dad. You can't tell me you don't recognize him" Peter exclaimed weakly moving his.... only arm.

"DADDY!" Morgan squealed before running towards Tony who happily picked her up into his arms and pulling her close.

"Hey there pumpkin. I'm so happy to finally meet you" Tony chuckled near tears kissing Morgan's head.

"I'm so happy to finally meet you. I've heard so many stories from Pet— Petey are you okay?" Morgan cut herself off at the sight of Peter crying.

"I'm okay. Just a mixture of feelings hitting me all at once" Peter explained his eyes moving to where his right arm used to be hinting as to why he was upset.

"Oh bambino" Tony murmured handing Morgan over to Steve (Morgan squealed when our into his arms) and moving to be right next to Peter.

"I'll be outside" Happy declared trying to hide the fact that he was almost crying by deciding to stand guard outside the room.

"Why?" Was all Peter could ask letting Tony wipe his tears.

"It was too far gone kiddo. Now, you can be just like Uncle Bucky" Steve said sitting in the seat Happy had once occupied.

"I'm not a kid anymore. I'm twenty-one" Peter chuckled quietly allowing himself to smile.

"Nope. You're still my dorky little sixteen year old kid. You're not allowed to get older" Tony decided running a hand through Peter's hair as his usual go-to form of comfort.

"Well looks like you've gotta listen to daddy Petey" Morgan chimed in poking Peter's side.

"Never allowed to grow up. Not while dad's around" Steve finished full out laughing.

"Yeah yeah whatever you guys say"
