"Peter! Peter! Where did you go!"
"Where is my son!"
"Ma'am, sir, your son is gone."
I jolted up in my bed, breathing heavily. I looked around and noticed my pillow was drenched with sweat.
I haven't had that dream in a few years. Why is it coming back?
I shook my head, there's no use in pondering on something that won't be answered.
"Gavin Jade! Time for breakfast!"
My name is Gavin Jade Reed. I'm 13 years old and my parents are Samantha Reed and Connor Reed.
"Mom?"
My mom turned around as she picked the pan up off the stove.
"What is it hunny?" She asked as she scraped some eggs on my plate.
"Do I know anyone named Peter?"
My mom stopped and sat the man down on the table, she sighed and ran her hand through her hair, a sign that she was anxious.
"Is it about that dream you've been having?"
I've told my mom about the dream before but she's always found excuses to avoid the topic and talk about something else.
"Yeah, can you please not avoid it this time?"
Mom say down in the chair beside me and moved some hair away from my face. "I guess you're old enough to know."
I nodded my head and leaned forward. She's finally telling me.
"Peter was a kid you knew back when you were three, you two were the best of friends. Then one day after he and his parents left the house after a play date..." Mom trailed off, running her hand through her hair again.
"What happened?" I knew it was pushy to press my mom when she gets anxious but I've had this dream for so long. I just want answers.
Mom took in a deep breath and looked me in the eyes. "When they left they went to the store and came out without Peter."
"What?" I knew where this was going, but I bad a horrible feeling crawling up my back.
"Peter was found the next week, but he wasn't returned to his parents. He had been murdered during that time. I never told you because I hoped you would forget about it and be happy. But I guess I couldn't keep it from you forever."
I sat back in my chair. I felt conflicted and uneasy, I get the uneasy part, I mean my apparent best friend had been murdered, but conflicted? There was nothing to feel conflicted about, but if that's the case then why does it feel like she's not telling me everything?
"Is that to much for you sweetie? Do you want to go back up to your room?"
I blinked and looked up at Mom, she looked concerned but there was something else. Something else in her eyes that I couldn't see.
"He doesn't need to go to his room, he probably doesn't even remember the boy." The gruff voice of my dad made me look away from Mom's eyes and over to him.
"What he needs is to go to a public school, you aren't good with the Pythagorean Theorem and the boy needs good education."
Dad glanced at me before he added to his reasons. "He also needs some friends, he can't be trapped in this house for the rest of his life."
Mom sighed and stood up, turning to face Dad. "Con, we've talked about this and my decision is final. Gavin will stay here and I will teach him. He isn't going to school."
"For God's Sake Samantha you don't even let him go out in the front yard! You can't shelter him for the rest of his life! He's thirteen, he needs to go out and be a teenager!"
Mom hot closer to Dad and started yelling. "I'm his mother! I get to decide what's good for him and what's not!"
"And I'm his father! Or do you forget that he's my son too!"
They kept going from there, but I didn't want to listen to them anymore. I got up and went back to my room.
They've been fighting a lot more lately, everytime it gets worse and worse, and everytime they fight it just happens to be about me. It's like they're two five year olds that want the same toy, but instead of a toy it's their child.
I can still hear them fighting after I close my door. I don't have a phone so I look out my window instead.
I watch people walk past on the sidewalk, adults on walls with their children, kids walking with friends.
Friends.
Mom doesn't let my leave the house unless Dad takes me somewhere. I thought that it was normal to be at home, to not go outside. I always thought other kids were like this too.
When I was six dad took me out of the house and to a park. Mom had never let me go out with her unless it was to the store, but it was always night time when she took me and no one was really at the store.
That day Dad let me play with some other kids for hours. Until Mom called and made him take me back. That was the first time they fought.
I asked Dad after Mom had gone to sleep why I wasn't allowed to go out and play with other kids.
"Because Mommy's scared," Dad told me, picking me up and putting me on his lap.
"What is Mommy scared of?"
"Mommy's scared that someone will take you from her, she's scared of other people."
I looked up at my dad and grabbed onto his hand.
"Mommy is scared because of me?" I asked.
"No, I don't really know why Mommy is scared, but I know that she is. So we have to help Mommy be less scared."
"So that means no more playground?" I started to cry. I really liked the playground and the other kids.
"You can still go to the playground, but we just can't tell Mommy."
I smiled, happy that I could still go to the playground. "Okay!"
Later Mom found out about our arrangement and shut it down. I cried for days.
( ̄ω ̄;) Carol is giving you a time skip to later in the day. Carol has been feeling down lately so she had taken some time off. Carol loves you <3
I didn't come back down for the rest of the day. I felt like if I did I would cause more arguments.
I waited until Mom and Dad went to bed before I left my room.
As I made my way down to the kitchen, I heard Mom and Dad whispering.
"There is no reason for him not to go to public school, Sam."
"There is plenty of reasons." Mom's voice was sharp and I could only imagine the glare she was giving Dad.
"Yeah? Then what?"
I heard Mom sigh. "You wouldn't understand."
I left after that. I don't need to hear her reasons for not letting me go to public school. I didn't care at this point.
I went to the kitchen and grabbed a bag of chips.
I started to head back to my room when I noticed a light on the table.
I walked over to see it was Mom's laptop, she had left it open and gotten an email.
I looked around to see if anyone was watching me when I knew there wasn't anyone in the room but me before I took the laptop, along with my chips, back to my room.
I had never really used a laptop before. Mom never let me go on one, but Dad would let me play games on his phone when Mom wasn't around.
So I was taking advantage of this opportunity.
To my amazing luck Mom had a password on her laptop, but at the same time it was pretty easy to crack. Gaveypoo3000 isn't a very creative password.
At first I just downloaded games, played them for a few minutes, then deleted them. I soon got bored of that and decision to be a snoop.
Honestly snooping is rude but I doubt Mom can really be hiding anything important.
I'm pretty much right at the moment. All I've seen so far is files of me and Dad. As I scroll further I start to see cat pictures, dog pictures, food pictures, news article screenshots.
Wait news article screenshots?
I click on the file and start to browse.
Then I see something that makes me choke on my chips.
MISSING THREE YEAR OLD HAS BEEN REPORTED. DETAILS: On Sunday night the parents of the child (chosen to stay anonymous) had gone into the store late at night. They claimed to have gotten caught up in what clothes to buy for their son when they turned to see he was gone.
The child reportedly had brown curly hair, brown eyes, 3 ft tall, 30.7 lbs.
Why does Mom have this saved?
As I scrolled I saw more and more stuff about the missing three year old.
MISSING THREE YEAR OLD'S NAME IS PETER, MAY HAVE BEEN CHANGED.
Peter? My apparent best friend, Peter? There's like a million Peter's but there is no way this can be the same Peter. But if that's the case then why does Mom have it saved?
I'm so confused.
PARENTS OF MISSING THREE YEAR OLD HAVE SENT OUT THE FOLLOWING PHOTO OF THE CHILD TO FURTHER THE INVESTIGATION:
Wait.
I know that three year old.
I know that face like the back of my hand.

My question for everyone is: what do you think of this Cody Orlove drama. (If you don't know who he is then you are saved from all this drama that he seems to always get into)
I'll see all you Cucumbers in about two days with the second part :))
