most of these tributes will barely be mentioned at all, let alone in passing... but i just like having a full image of the cast, you know? knowing that only one of these will survive is just— well, heartbreaking, because i'm emotionally attached to ALL of them, no matter how nasty they are.

also, about the quote at the top! that is apparently an oath that all roman gladiators use to have to swear before they entered battle. in this book, you'll actually see a few references to these gladiators and the romans, as i think the whole thing with the chariots, the fighting to the death in front of an audience, saluting your emperor (like president snow?) before you fight is all very familiar to the hunger games. so... yeah. that's the aesthetic we're going for...

and one more thing, i took a quiz once to see which hunger games district i belonged to, and i got district nine! do you know what yours is?
