Chapter 77.
"REMEMBER, YOU HAVE TO RETURN THE STONES AT THE EXACT MOMENT YOU GOT THEM," Bruce instructed as he opened the briefcase that showed the infinity stones. "Or you're gonna open up a bunch of nasty alternative realities,"
Steve nodded, closing the briefcase. "Don't worry, Bruce, clip all the branches,"
After a moment of silence, Bruce spoke up once again, "You know I tried. When I had the gauntlet—the stones— I really tried to bring her back. I miss them, man,"
"Me too," he replied softly.
"You know, if you want, I could come with you," Sam said, as he walked alongside Steve towards the portal.
Steve smiled softly, "You're a good man, Sam. This one's on me, though."
He then stood front of Bucky, whom he noticed had a sullen look and he gave him a smile — in hopes of lifting his best friend's mood up.
"Don't do anything stupid till I get back,"
Bucky chuckled softly and smiled, "How can I? You're taking all the stupid with you,"
They embraced into a warm hug once again and Bucky stared at him.
"Gonna miss you, buddy,"
Steve gave him another smile and reassuring nod, "It's going to be okay, Buck. I'll be back."
AJ smiled softly as she hugged her father, "I love you, dad," she said.
Steve smiled and hugged her, before he placed a kiss against his baby's forehead. "I love you too, sweetie,"
He then stepped up on the portal, activating his quantum suit.
"How long is this gonna take?" Sam asked.
"For him? As long as he needs," Bruce replied. "For us — five seconds,"
Steve picked up mjolnir, taking in a deep and steady breath. Everything that he's doing was a huge risk, but he would take that risk for his girl.
"Ready, Cap?" He nodded in response. "Alright, we'll meet you back here, okay?"
"You bet."
"Going quantum in three... two... one."

PEGGY FELT HER EYES WIDEN AT WHO STOOD IN FRONT OF HER. "Steve?" She asked softly, she can feel tears filled her eyes at the sight of the man she loved.
"Peggy." He breathed out.
"I-I don't understand," Peggy stuttered, tears threatened to spill. "Y-you're dead... y-you, Abigail, and Pamela... dead,"
"Peggy." Steve says. "Peg, it's me. It's Steve. It's a long story, but I'll explain everything, alright?"
Peggy stared at him and nodded. And that's what he did.
But he didn't stop there.
"AND RETURNING IN FIVE, FOUR, THREE, TWO, ONE..." Bruce announced, just for the portal to be empty — and with no sign of Steve.
Sam frowned, "Where is he?"
"I don't know," Bruce responded, flickering over some more buttons and staring at the monitor. "He blew right by his time stamp. He should be here,"
Bucky and AJ turned around with a soft smile on their faces. But then their eyes widen at what they saw.
"Well, get him back!" Sam demanded.
"I'm trying."
"Get him the hell back!"
"I said, I'm trying!"
"Sam." Bucky called out, cutting the argument of the two as they turned their heads. The man walked forward and stood beside them, just as they stared at what was in front of them.
PEGGY SMILED AS SHE GOT UP FROM BED. She smiled when she saw her husband beside her fast asleep. She chuckled as she walked over to the window and opened the curtains — only to hear a groan from behind.
Peggy smirked and placed her hands on her hips, "It's time to get up, Mr Rogers,"
Steve didn't say anything expect placed his pillow on his head, covering himself from the blinding sunlight. Peggy chuckled as she went to walk him up, but when she got close to him and took the pillow off of him, Steve pulled her close and kissed her; Peggy smiled and kissed back. This would have continued if Peggy didn't speak up.
"Can you get the girls for me? I'll join the three of you for breakfast after I shower,"
"Alright, Peg," Steve nodded with a soft smile before heading out of the bedroom.
STEVE WALKED OUT, ONLY TO ENTER ANOTHER BEDROOM. He then opened the door to see two little girls around the ages of five and six, one biological and one adopted. Both little girls looked up from playing and smiled happily at the sight of him.
"Daddy!"
Steve smiled as he walked towards his little girls. Abigail "AJ" Jane Rogers and Pamela Rogers smiled as their father scooped them up in his arms, kissing each one of their foreheads.
"Good morning, girls," he smiled.
"Morning, daddy!" Both of his daughters greeted, smiling happily.
After Steve returned the stones, he remembered what Tony told him about the simple life. As he remembered that, he thought of Peggy, AJ, and Pamela, his girls. So, he stopped with his life on being Captain America — therefore leaving his superhero life. And he finally had the life he dreamt of with Peggy — and therefore the two of them back with their two little girls, Abigail and Pamela Rogers.
OUT IN A FAIR DISTANCE BY THE LAKE, a figure stood there with his back facing them as he smiled down at the two little girls in his arms. AJ and Bucky instantly recognized the two little girls, while Sam's lips parted slightly in surprise. They stepped forward a little more closer, and with a smile on his face, Bucky said, "Go ahead."
Sam hesitated before walked closer, "Cap?"
Steve turned his head and smiled as the two little girls in his arms giggled, "Hi, Sam," he greeted. He looked the same as before, but the only difference is that he was carrying two little girls in his arms.
Sam smiled, "So, did something go wrong — or did something go right?"
"Well, after I put the stones back, I thought... maybe I'll try some of that life Tony was telling me to get," he replied, gesturing at his two daughters.
"How did that work out for you?"
"Daddy? Can we get ice cream after?" Five-year-old Pamela asked, making the two men smile widely. Watching from behind, AJ smiled and chuckled softly from hearing that.
"Pretty please, daddy?" AJ asked.
Steve then chuckled and kissed his daughters' cheeks before he turned back to Sam, "It's beautiful,"
"I'm happy for you. Truly." Sam told him, smiling.
"Thank you,"
Sam finally pieced it together, "Only thing bumming me out is the fact I have to live in a world without Captain America."
"Oh, that reminds me..." Steve trailed off, before placing his little girls on the bench. He then took a case that was behind him before showing it to Sam as he opened it. The shield.
"Try it on,"
Sam blinked one surprise and looked at Bucky and AJ, who only nodded at him — proud smiles on their faces. He then picked it up and tried it on.
"How does it feel?" Steve questioned.
"Like it's someone else's."
"It isn't."
Sam blinked back tears and smiled as he whispered, "Thank you. I'll do my best,"
Steve smiled as they shook hands and then Sam eyed a wedding ring on his finger, making him smirk.
"You wanna tell me about her?" He asked.
Looking down at his daughters and memories being replayed in his head, he couldn't help but smile then smirk at his friend.
"No, I don't think I will."
BY THE EVENING, FIVE-YEAR-OLD PAMELA AND SIX-YEAR-OLD AJ played with their toys as they both sat on the couch while Steve and Peggy decided to dance to the song that was playing through the speakers of their home. Steve smiled as he held Peggy close as they danced to the music then they both met each other's glances and they leaned in and connected their lips for a kiss.
Steve promised her a dance, and he finally got it. Now, because of another chance, he's happily dancing with her. They were married, and they have two amazing daughters. It was the life he always wanted for him and for Abigail "AJ" Jane Rogers.
