Chapter 55

"You're safe. I've got you, you're safe,"

She felt tears falling silently from her eyes, but she didn't care. She immediately locked her arms around his neck and buried her face into his shoulder. Peter Parker had managed to save her. Soon she felt her feet land on the hard ground, but she didn't release her arms. She felt another pair of arms wrapped around her and held her tightly, letting her know that she was safe.

"Stay here, I need to catch him," Peter said, gently removing her locked hands from around his neck.

"Pete, no, don't go," Briana said.

"I have to," Peter said, gently wiping the tears from her face. She watched as Peter shot a piece of webbing to his wing suit before he shot up into the sky, his eyes on the prize.

Was she going to listen to him and stay put like he asked? Or was she going to help him? If it's something that Peter knew, it was that...

There was no way that she was staying put.

She gasped as Peter was suddenly hit at full force by the Vulture flying out of nowhere and forcing him to flip before he hit the ground in a slump, "Hey, Pedro," Adrian said.

"Bri, stay down," Peter warned. Briana nodded softly. Within seconds, the suit opened up and Adrian took flight straight at Peter. Peter rolled underneath the Vulture's attack then fired some of his webbing at the bird man, but it didn't stick for long.

"PETER!" Briana yelled with fear clearly written in her voice as the Vulture pinned Peter to the sand by the Vulture's foot moments. Adrian then proceeded to punch Peter with his metal gauntlet before Peter reached out and grasped the metal, crushing and ripping it off the arm. Suddenly, he was pulled up into the air and the fight began in the air. Then Peter was dropped to the ground and the Vulture flew towards one of the containers, holding the weapons inside.

Just when she was about to run towards Peter, she looked and saw the suit sparking uncontrollable.

"Your wingsuit!" Briana shouted.

"Your wingsuit's going to explode!" Peter shouted as he struggled to his knees before he aimed his webshooter and fired webbing at the large box. With the webbing attached, Peter darted to his feet and began to pull the box back towards himself, bringing the Vulture down with it. Though Peter was still sliding through the particles, Briana ran over to him and helped Peter pulled the box back towards them as well.

"Time to go home, Pete," Adrian said.

"We're trying to save you!" Peter shouted as they both continued to pull the Vulture back. Suddenly, Adrian raised one of his metal wings and used his razor blade metal feathers to cut the webbing, freeing the box and himself. Peter and Briana were thrown backwards to the floor the moment it was cut, and Briana winched as the pain came back again.

Peter tried to fire a webbing again as he quickly got up but nothing came out. And then, one of the wings did explode causing Briana to scream at the sight and squeezed her eyes shut. She felt a body quickly grab onto her and cover her as an explosion echoed over the beach again, shaking the ground beneath them.

"...Ana? Br...? B..." all she heard was ringing. She had to shake her head a bit to get rid of the ringing as she felt someone cupped her cheek.

"Briana?" She opened her eyes and threw her arms around his neck, Peter then wrapped his arms around her. She felt the safety of his arms again. Then they looked where a wall of fire ahead of them where the Vulture landed.

"Sorry, Pete," she then darted into the fire, not listening to the boy calling her name. She felt herself sweat because of how hot the flames were as she limped through the fire, searching for Adrian. Once she found him, Peter had ran into the fire and over to her to help him. They both got Adrian out and tried to place him down, but the man slipped to the ground with a thud.

Briana placed her hands where Adrian had wrapped his metal suit around her in order to bring her up and winched when they pain kicked in as she touched it. That was definitely going to leave a bruise. She looked at Peter and he quickly pulled her into his arms, hugging her tightly. He almost lost her today, and he wouldn't live with himself if he actually did.

As she felt something wet fall from her eyes, Briana just buried her head into Peter's shoulders and wrapped her arms around his neck. She was never going to be able to forget this night.

Soon, Briana watched as Adrian Toomes was shoved into a police car. Peter had to go off to make sure his identity wasn't discovered, but she still felt the eyes of the boy watching her from somewhere. She heard the familiar sound of metal boots landing on the ground and immediately recognized it. She whirled around and ran straight to her father, throwing her arms around and burying her wet face with tear strains into his metal suit. She felt his metal arms wrapped around her and felt more tears running down his face. She was alive, and it was thanks to the very boy she loved.

And though she didn't notice the hero watching her hug her father, he could only smile softly behind the mask, glad to know that he was safe. But after knowing that she was close to dying, that fear was never going to leave him, and he swore that he would do his best to protect the girl who won his heart.

One thing Briana hated after a battle or whenever she close to death was everyone staring at her. She couldn't help but bit her lip nervously as the stares and hushed words she heard from the students of Midtown Tech. All she wanted to do was forget the night, but she knew that a small piece of her was never going to forget. Every now and then, Briana felt a string of pain in her abdomen to remind her of what happened.

"You okay?" She looked to see Maya standing beside her as she reached her locker.

"Yeah, I'm good," she whispered as she stared up at one of the TVs to see the moment where the Vulture dropped her out of the sky above the collapsed warehouse and Spider-Man showing up just in time to catch her. Just by watching it on the TV, she heard her very own scream in her head again; she couldn't sleep last night because her mind kept replaying it over and over again.

"Hey, Bri, you're alright," she looked to see Cat walk over, walking a few feet behind her was Peter and Ned.

"Yeah, Spider-Man was there," she said, her gaze met Peter's brown eyes.

"If you two are gonna kiss, just do it," Cat smirked.

Peter and Briana blushed lightly while Cat, Ned, and Maya snickered and headed to class just as the bell rung. Without hesitation, Briana hugged Peter and whispered into his ears, "Thank you,"

She felt his arms wrapped around her for a gently hug, not wanting to hurt her anymore than she already was, "I'm just glad that you're safe. I was scared I lost you," Peter whispered into her ears.

"Me too, Pete, me too,"

Briana did her best to hide the pain she was feeling in her abdomen. Towards the end of the day, she had a meeting for the decathlon team. As everyone sat around a long table, Mr Harrington sat at the top of the table with the large trophy they had won.

"Congratulations, Decathlon National Champions," Mr Harrington said, a collective of cheers rung out in their success. "I'll have to put this back in the trophy case soon but just for motivation right now at this practice. I'm a little ahead of the game, but we will need a new team captain next year. So, I am appointing Briana,"

Applause rang out while Briana looked a bit shocked but quickly got over it. "Thank you," she said.

"Sorry," Peter muttered as his phone buzzed against the table. He lifted up his phone and read the message he just received.

? ? ?: Go to the bathroom.

Briana didn't need to look that it was from Happy, she knew exactly why too. Luckily, she had just finished the brand new suits she had been working on for Peter and Cat. Peter met her gaze and Briana nodded at him. While Peter was gone, Briana looked at the team.

"So, we should run some drills,"

Spider-Man/Avengers belongs to Marvel

Briana & Maya belongs to me

Cat belongs to Crazy_Fangirl_110
