Chapter 54

Briana smiled as she stared at herself in the mirror, she came home and told her mother the news. Of course, Pepper Potts was happy for her little girl and immediately took her out for a mother-daughter day as they searched for the perfect dress. It took a while but the two of them have managed to find the perfect dress, and once they got home, Briana made her father promise that he wouldn't take a peek at how she looked in the dress till it was time for homecoming.

Before the she had went back home with her mother, after they find the perfect dress, the two decided to have a little snack and chat for a bit. It was there where Briana had asked her mother if her father would have been okay with the idea, and Pepper Potts had assured that Tony Stark would been completely fine as long as she was happy. Briana kept replaying the words of her mother in her head since they got back home.

"Your father may be overprotective, but he does love you and all he wants is for you to be happy,"

She was wearing was a beautiful violet purple dress, heels, and a beautiful necklace that had a purple heart on it. Her strawberry-blonde hair was also in curls just for the event. As she smiled in the mirror and satisfied with how she looked, there was a knock on the door and her mother's voice saying, "Sweetie, Peter's here,"

Briana suddenly felt herself get all nervous at the mention of Peter being there. I mean, who wouldn't be nervous about going to a dance with the boy they've been crushing on? She was nervous as crazy as she took a deep breath and walked out of her bedroom, following her mother.

It was then she heard her father's voice, "Wow, wow, wow, do you look beautiful,"

Briana found herself blushing lightly as her cheeks turned a bit red, "Please don't embarrass me, daddy,"

Both Briana and Peter blush a little, shyly meeting their gazes. Of course, like any mother, Pepper Potts wanted to get a few pictures which only made the two teenagers blush more. After a few photos taken, it was time for Tony to drive the two blushing teenagers to the dance. As Briana was saying bye to her mother, Pepper Potts smiled at her daughter and whispered, "Have fun. And he's cute,"

Briana felt her cheeks turning red a bit, "Mommy," she whined softly, her face turning red. Pepper Potts just smirked and judged her to go have fun. It didn't take long for them to arrive at Midtown Tech, and students were entering the school as they headed towards the gym for the dance.

"Thanks, daddy," Briana smiled, just about to open the door to the car.

"You head in there, munchkin. I'm gonna give Peter the "dad" talk," Tony said.

Peter wouldn't admit it out loud but he honestly felt a bit nervous hearing that from his old mentor and the man that he still looked up and saw as a father figure. But he could see why, Briana was amazing. It was easy to see why Tony would be overprotective over his precious little girl.

Briana playfully rolled her eyes and looked at Peter, "Don't let him scare you,"

Briana then leaned forward to kiss her father's cheek, "Love you, dad,"

"Love you too, munchkin," Tony said.

Briana then climbed out of the car and walked over to Maya, once the two girls saw each other while her father and Peter chatted in the car, "Hey, Bri!" Maya said smiling big.

"Hey, Maya. Wow, you look amazing," Briana said smiling at one of her best friends. Maya had a lovely pink dress with matching heels and earrings.

Maya blushed, "Thanks. Who did you come with?"

"Peter, my dad is giving him the "overprotective dad talk." you?" Briana asked.

"Ned,"

Briana felt her mouth dropped open. She knew that her best friend was crushing on Peter's best friend, but she had no idea that Ned had asked Maya to the dance, and she had agreed.

"Ned? As in Peter's best friend?" Briana asked.

"Yeah, hey, look, there's Liz," Maya said, pointing to the car that Liz climbed out of. Briana looked over and her eyes widen when she saw the familiar face of Liz's dad, Adrian Toomes. Earlier the day, after she first try on the dress, she decided to look into the Vulture and discovered that only was Adrian unemployed, but he was also the Vulture. And she just had the gut feeling that he was up to something and needed to be stop.

She didn't even notice that her father and Peter finished chatting, or the fact that her father had drove off. She met Peter's gaze and she knew that he must have noticed Adrian Toomes before he had drove off. And by the look on his face, she knew that he was gonna go after him. Seconds later, she met Peter in the halls and quickly stopped him from running off.

"Don't do it, Pete," Briana pleaded, her eyes meeting his with panic and fear.

"Bri, I have to," he said as he gently held her hands.

"No, you don't have to," Briana stressed. She didn't want him to go this time. She...she didn't want to lose him.

"But if I stay and do nothing, the little people get hurt," Peter said. Those words, this was the moment that the boy she fell in love with was back. This was the moment that Briana realized that Peter had came back, that he came back to her.

"Pete..."

"I'll tell Happy before I rush off," Peter replied as he pushed a curled strand of her strawberry-blonde hair behind her ear then he kissed her cheek, which made them turn red a bit. "You look amazing," he said.

Then he was gone.

The next thing she knew was that she was running and running, searching for the boy who won her heart, not willing to lose him. Then she saw him jumped out of the trashed car and headed straight into the building. She felt herself panic and fear the worst rise. She didn't have her suit. She had no idea what was happening.

She could only pray that Peter would be okay.

"Hey! Surprised?" Peter asked.

"Oh, hey, Pete. I didn't hear you come in," Adrian said.

"It's over. I've got you," Peter announced. The two were in a long, empty industrial garage and Adrian leaned against a table.

"You know, I gotta tell you, Pete, I really, really admire your grit." Adrian said.

"How could you do this to her?" Peter asked.

"To her? I'm not doing anything to her, Pete. I'm doing this for her," Adrian said.

"Yeah," Peter scoffed before he shot a piece of webbing at Adrian's hand — sticking it to the table. Adrian only sighed.

"Peter, you're young. You don't understand how the world works," Adrian states.

"Yeah. But I understand that selling weapons to criminals is wrong," Peter retorted.

"How do you think your buddy Stark paid for that tower? Or any of his little toys? Why do you think Stark's daughter has everything that she wants and needs? Those people, Pete, those people up there, the rich and the powerful, they do whatever they want. Guys like us, like you and me, they don't care about us. We build their roads, and we fight all their wars and everything, but they don't care about us. We have to pick up after them. We have to eat their table scraps. That's how it is," Adrian says.

Peter knew that was a dig towards Tony Stark, towards Briana Stark. But he also knew that Adrian was wrong. If Tony Stark didn't care about the little people, he never would have became Iron Man and did his best to protect them, to protect his little family, to protect every single one of them. He knew that Tony was protecting him by taking away the suit, till he was actually ready. He knew that Briana Stark really did care about the little people, because if she didn't, she would have trashed her suit or she never would have made it. He knew that everything that came out of Adrian's mouth was wrong about the world, about Tony Stark, and...about Briana Stark.

"I know you know what I'm talking about, Peter," Adrian said.

"Why are you telling me this?" Peter asked.

"Because I want you to understand. And I needed a little time to get her airborne," Adrian finished, revealing a switchblade he had hidden in his jacket. The wing suit came smashing through the brick walls heading straight for Peter, whose spider-sense had tipped him off. Peter jumped around, avoiding the sharp blades of the wings hit while it circled around him, smashing into the pillars of the garage. Rock was crumbling everywhere.

"I'm sorry, Peter," Adrian says.

"What are you talking about? That thing hasn't even touched me yet," Peter shouted back.

"True. Then again... wasn't really trying to," Adrian confirmed.

Peter discovered the truth seconds later. Briana felt her eyes widen in fear and panic as the warehouse collapsed. She bolted towards the destroyed warehouse where huge pieces of concrete, tones of the stuff were piled high. She felt her body start to shake as she looked around for him.

"PETER!"

Silence.

"PETER! PLEASE ANSWER ME! PETER!" Briana yelled with fear and panic in her throat.

"I'm here!"

With careful motions, she quickly made her way across the rumble, the dust covered her skin but she didn't care about that. She only cared about Peter being okay. "Forget about me right now, you have to call Happy," Peter told her.

"What? Why? I can't leave you under this, Pete." Briana said.

"He's going after the plane. It's moving day, remember?" Peter explained.

Briana felt her eyes widen. Adrian was going to steal directly from her father. But before she could get the chance to pull her phone out, she felt like she was being watched as she felt eyes watching her every move.

"Pete....I think he's still here," she said softly.

"What do we have here?"

Briana felt her body slowly began to shake as she quickly spun around to find the Vulture staring down at her. Suddenly, the Vulture lifted his leg and made his metal claws clamp around her waist. She gasped as the pain started to kick in at the hard metal squeezing her waist. She screamed in fear as she was suddenly rugged up into the air, her feet leaving the ground.

"NO! Leave her alone!" Peter yelled, panic and fear was clear in his voice. He struggled to push the concrete off of himself but couldn't.

"You know, I wondered how Stark would take it when he finds out that you let his only daughter die. It's your own fault, her blood is on your hands," Adrian says.

"Peter!" She screams, the only thing she wanted was to be in the safety of his arms.

"NO! Briana!" Peter shouted, his words grew faint as the Vulture flew higher and higher. She watched as the ground fell further from herself.

She was doomed. She was going to die. She wouldn't see her parents, Maya, Starr, Cat, Happy. She wouldn't get the chance to tell the first best friend she ever had, AJ Rogers that she forgives. She wouldn't get the chance to tell Peter that she loves him, that she loves him so much, that he was the only boy that could win the key to her heart.

To her horror, the metal talon opened up and she closed her eyes as she began to plummet towards the ground, and her screams escaped her throat.
