Chapter 52

Briana had suspected that Peter had left when he didn't turn up for their Spanish quiz. The minute school had let out, Briana met up with Cat and found him in a parking lot standing in front of Aaron Davis whose hand had been webbed to the boot of his car. The pair were arguing over something like they were siblings.

"I'm not a girl, I'm a man," Peter said. With the Interrogation Mode on, his voice was much deeper and completely out of character. Cat and Briana snickered and laughed a bit at the sound of him, there was no way that Peter could pull off that voice.

Peter had heard his sister and crush laughing but pretended not too—at least for now. "Come on, man. Look, who is selling these weapons? I need to know. Give me names or else,"

Aaron stared at him then slammed the trunk of the car down, making Peter and the drone itself jump at the movement. Briana giggled at the fact of Peter trying to act tough, while Cat rolled her eyes at him.

"You big softie," Cat mumbled about her little brother.

"You ain't ever done this before, huh?" Aaron asked.

"Deactivate Interrogation Mode," Peter muttered, just knowing that he was gonna be teased of this. "Look, man. These guys are selling weapons that are crazy dangerous. They can't be out on the streets. If one of them can cut Delmar's Bodega in half—"

"You know Delmar's?" Aaron asked.

"Yeah, best sandwiches in Queens," Peter says.

"Sub Haven's pretty good," Aaron says.

"It's too much bread," Peter complains.

"I like bread,"

"Come on, man, please," When Aaron didn't say anything, Peter started to walk away. "Stupid Interrogation Mode. Karen, don't ever do that again," he mumbled.

"The other night, you told that dude, if you shoot somebody, shoot me. That's pretty ballsy. I don't want those weapons in this neighborhood," Aaron said as Peter walked back over to him. "I got a nephew who live here,"

"Who are these guys?" Peter asked. "What can you tell me about the guy with the wings?"

"Other than he's a psychopath dressed like a demon, nothing. I don't know who he is or where he is. I do know where he's gonna be," Aaron says.

"Really?" Peter asks.

"Yeah, this crazy dude I used to work with... he's supposed to be doing a deal with him," Aaron says.

"Yes! Yes!" Peter shouted, just as he started walking away.

"Where are you going? We don't have a location," Cat said.

"I didn't tell you where," Aaron reminded.

"Right, of course. Yeah, my bad. Where is it?" Peter asked, walking back to him.

"Can I give you some advice?" Aaron asked, Peter nodded. "You got to get better at this part of the job,"

"I don't understand. I'm intimidating," Peter says.

Cat scoffed, "No you're not. You're a big softie,"

"Staten Island Ferry, 11," Aaron said.

"Oh, that's soon," Peter mumbled before he began backing away from Aaron. "That's gonna dissolve in two hours," with that he turned and began to make his way.

"No, no, no. Come fix this!" Aaron shouted.

"Two hours. You deserve that," Peter says.

"I got ice cream in here," Aaron argued.

"You deserve that," Peter said as he continued to run off. "You're a criminal. Bye, Mr. Criminal,"

Peter then caught up with Cat and Briana, who were both still trying not to laugh about his conversation with the criminal.

"Am I intimidating?" He suddenly asked.

"No," Cat says. "You're a big softie,"

"You're intimidating as a adorable puppy," Briana teased, giggling while Peter turned beet red at the comment.

This was insane. Instead of being in her cozy bedroom, she and Cat were helping Peter. Oh, this was so gonna come back at her. Both Peter and Cat had already declined a call from their aunt; though they both knew that if they survived this, they were in so much trouble. The two girls had gone back to get their suits really quick as well.

"Oh, this is too perfect. They got the weapons, buyers, and sellers all in one place," Peter whispered.

"Incoming call from Tony Stark," C.A.S.S. replies.

"No, no, no! C.A.S.S., don't an—hey, dad!" Briana quickly said just as C.A.S.S. answered the call, despite her own objections. The familiar face of her father appeared before Briana on her screen in a little box.

"Hey, munchkin. If you see Parker, tell me that he did a good job in D.C." Tony Stark said with sincerity.

"Gotcha. I'll definitely tell him," Briana said, trying to keep herself hidden from the bad guys below.

"My dad never really gave me a lot of support and I'm trying to break the cycle of shame," Briana knew this was true. All he wanted was to make sure she felt loved and happy.

Tony continued, "Anyway, great things are about to-" Suddenly, the ferry's fog horn blasted loudly, causing Briana to flinch. "What is that?"

"Um...I'm with the decathlon team for practice," Briana lied.

"That's odd. Happy told me you don't have practice today. What's up?" Tony replied, Briana mentally cursed in her head.

"Uh, daddy? I gotta go. Love you! End call," Briana said, she knew that her father was not impressed but the call ended before anymore could be said.

"I'll take those!" Peter shouted moments before he dropped down onto the main deck, right among the incredibly dangerous men. "Hey, guys. The illegal weapons-deal ferry was at 10:30. You missed it," he immediately began to fire webbing and fight the criminals below.

"Typical," Cat muttered as herself and Briana jumped down and joined the fight. While her friends handled the buyers and sellers, what caught Briana's attention was the two gentlemen beside the white van and the older one grabbed the other man and slammed his head into the van, knocking him unconscious. She definitely did not want the Chitauri and Ultron technology out there anymore just to be made out of dangerous weapons. These technology came from the battles she was a part of, meaning that they were her responsibility. And she needed to get that burden off of her shoulders for her sake.

Without a second thought, she quickly left and made her way towards the white van. With her thrusters ready to fire, she aimed at the Vulture.

"Don't even think about it," she announced her presence. The Vulture turned to face her and immediately recognized her.

"If you wish to keep your life, stay out of this, Stark," the Vulture replied, furious that his operation was not just on Spider-Man's radar, but also on Stark's radar now as well.

"No," Briana said, the thrusters glowed and continued to hummed as she fired at the Vulture, who ducked out of her fire and quickly ran. The blast had pushed the white van to the wall of the ship, and Briana mentally cursed at herself for letting the actual villain escaped.

Suddenly the boat suddenly started creaking and rocking before bright purple streams where shooting through the floor causing everyone to scream and stop. Briana immediately got out from the deck and onto higher ground to help people, meeting up with Cat.

There was spider webbing all over the ship. At first, Peter had done it, but unfortunately he had missed one. The webbing started to snap as the large, heavy, ferry began to separate again. Cat and Briana slipped and fell backwards, their backs hitting the wall. As the webs gave away, the water was able to race into the ferry once more.

The sound of metal attaching to metal began to echo around the ship moments before the ferry was moving back the way it had been falling. Then she heard his voice through the speakers that were connected to her suit.

"Decathlon practice, huh, munchkin?" Briana flinched as she slowly lifted her hand to see that her father was using his mini thrusters along with his own suit to push the ship back together. She gave him a nervous smile before she slid back down onto the ground so he couldn't see her.

"I'm in so much trouble," Briana said.

"I'm sure Peter is too," Cat said softly, Briana looked at her and nodded as her face mask lowered down to reveal her face.

"We both are,"

•••

Peter sits on the railing of a concrete bridge, his expression worth a thousand heartbreaking words as his brown eyes stare down at the water. Since she had her suit and was able to fly off, Briana managed to bring Cat to safety. He quickly glances at the Iron Man suit flying in his direction.

It hovers just a few feet from him before Tony's voice is suddenly scolding, "Previously on Peter Screws the Pooch, I told you to stay away from this! Instead, you hacked a multimillion-dollar suit so you could sneak around behind my back, doing the one thing I told you not to do,"

Peter can barely look at him and his voice nearly cracks, "Is everyone okay?"

"No thanks to you," Tony slowly enunciates, not meaning to be so angry at the kid he's been starting to see as a son but just can't help it. God, both Peter and Catherine... he started to see them both as a son and daughter. And just knowing how his own daughter was good friends, and if he had lost any of them, he would never ever forgive himself.

But something in the kid snaps, making him bolt up from his position so he can turn and face the slowly lowering suit, "No thanks to me!? Those weapons were out there, and I tried to tell you about it, but you didn't listen! None of this would've happened if you had just listened to me!"

Peter gives a laughing scoff, "If you even cared, you'd actually be here,"

And then suddenly the suit is unfolding and Tony Stark emerges from the red and gold cocoon.

Peter's eyes widen in near horror and he quickly stumbles back, not expecting that.

"I did listen, kid. Who do you think called the FBI, huh? Did you know that asides from my own daughter, I was the only one who believed in you and your sister? Everyone else said I was crazy to recruit a fourteen-year-old kid and his seventeen-year-old sister," Tony says.

Peter quietly says, "I'm fifteen,"

"No, this is where you zip it, all right?" Tony says angrily. "The adult is talking! What if somebody had died tonight? Different story, right? Cause that's on you,"

Peter nearly flinches when Tony jabs a finger at his chest.

"And if you, or Catherine, or Briana died..." Tony pulls his hands towards his own aching chest, "I feel like that's on me. I don't need that on my conscience,"

God, all Tony wanted was for the people he cared about to be safe. But every time he tried something, it always seemed to backfired on him. Now asides from his very own little girl, he has two teenagers that he sees as a son and daughter. And he couldn't bare the thought of losing Briana, Peter, or Catherine.

He just couldn't.

"Yes, sir. I-I'm sorry. I understand,"

"Sorry doesn't cut it," Tony squints are him, his voice a low whisper.

"I just—" Peter says, "I just wanted to be like you,"

"And I wanted you to be better," Tony says. He knows the mistakes he made, he didn't want Peter, Catherine, or Briana making the same mistakes too. "Okay, it's not working out. I'm gonna need the suit back,"

His adorable puppy-dog brown eyes go wide in fear, "For how long?"

"Forever. Yeah, that's how it works," Tony nods.

"No, no. Please, please, please, Mr. Stark, you don't understand!" Peter says.

Tony feels his chest aching as he watches him beg, "Let's have it,"

"Please, this is all I have! I'm nothing without this suit,"

"If you're nothing without this suit, then you shouldn't have it,"

Spider-Man/Avengers belongs to Marvel

Briana belongs to me

Cat belongs to Crazy_Fangirl_110

.... I don't know about you guys, but honestly, I hated that scene in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Watching Irondad and Spiderson fighting like that freaking break my heart.... And now I can feel the tears coming from writing it.
