"OOO! A girl! And such a cute one too!" Rin popped in. "All you straight males must be thinking..."

"Shut the hell up Rin, you're really not helping." I said, blushing the slightest. She was pretty, but it was only once Rin mentioned that I began to pay attention to her features.

I drew a quick breath.

"Hoho...Your eyes seem to suggest something Kard..." Rin snickered.

"Be quiet. Get me some rope, we're going to restrain her movements first."

"There are no thick ropes, but there are some thin ones in your coat pocket, did you forget?" Rin pointed out.

"Oh yeah your right, I keep forgetting..."

The truth was, I wasn't forgetting. I was just overreacting too much.

"Here." I said hastily, as I unfolded the ropes, which got caught in my hands like 3 times before I was able to straighten it out again.

"Are you sure you can do this?" Rin questioned.

"Just shut up and watch." Shaking, I held the rope in my hands. Since never in my life had I thought I would have the need to tie someone up.

"Kard." Rin spoke, just as I loomed over the girl.

"What?" I replied notable irritation.
"She's not breathing."

"Wait what are you... no, no, no, no, no, no, this can't be happening! Curses!" I looked around frantically for a solution to magically appear out of thin air.

"KARD!"

"CURSES! What the hell do you expect me to do?"

"Do that!"

"Sorry, I meant mouth to mouth CPR!"

I turned to the lying body of the unconscious girl and was just about to do it, until I realized what Rin was asking me to do is no different from kissing.

"I CAN'T DO IT!" I shook my head so hard, for a moment I thought it was going to fall off.

"WHY!" Rin yelled as a blue Kaomoji popped up right in my face.

"Because I...I..." the words were suddenly caught in my throat and seeing me stutter, Rin took the opportunity and pressed further:

"Are you allergic to girls or something? No wonder why you are still..."

"I am saving it for Illyria!"

"HA? Who's Illyria? You better explain yourself right now!"

"Really? Fine, you owe me an answer. But this girl..." Rin's voice trailed off.
We were so caught up with the whole 'Illyria' thing that, I forgot the girl was still there. One look at the girl's face, and I knew time was stacked against me. Seeing no alternative options, and my brain was pretty much fried at that point, Rin's suggestion seemed the only option.

"Alright, this doesn't count as a kiss. Not an official kiss, this is CPR! Whhhooo..." I let out a deep breath, then kneeled down and hovered my head right above her face.

"You can do it Kard!" Rin made a bunch of cheering noises from the side.
"Shut up! It's not like I wanted to do it!" I protested loudly. But when I look down at those lips again.

Ok; maybe just a little.

I shook my head literally, and took in dozen more deep breathes.

I averted my gaze for a moment, before finally able to meet her face again.

Just as our lips were about to meet and worlds seem to collide, a pump of water landed on my face, which I immediate fell back right on my ass.

"Curses!" I said as frantically wiped my face, followed by a series of coughing noises that wasn't from me. I turned my gaze onto the girl, she was rolling to her side, coughing up water and making a bunch of gurgling noises, but bit by bit she began to open her eyes.

Shit.

I immediately began to reach for my coat pocket and that was when she fully opened her eyes. That's when it all escalated.

Her body lunged at me like a shadow, pinning me straight to the ground with both hands around my neck, squeezing the life out of me.

I quickly countered her choke by grabbing her hand and pried away her fingers with every last ounce of strength inside of me. Seeing that I have the strength advantage, she made a surprise move by head butting me, sending a spike of pain through my forehead. While still recovering from the involuntary shock, she somehow managed to slip behind me and got me into a choke lock using her arm this time.

The struggle was real. Every breath of mine became life, and also my last. Darkness cornered my vision, and the sounds began to grow hollow, I tried to pull her arms away, but it stayed there and clamped me down like iron.

Curses...

"LEAVE KARD ALONE!" Rin voice filled the entire cave, she followed up her voice with a bursting bright light coming from my hand. That moment, the girl must have been stunned as much as I am, so seizing the opportunity I broke away from her choke and stumbled several meters to the side. I could sense she was trying to regroup herself too, but because all my vision could see was white, it was impossible to tell which angle she will strike at.

Curses, where is she going to strike?

"Kard! 12 o' clock!" Rin called out, and it was that exact moment I realized my biggest advantage had been there with me the whole time. I was not alone; it was we.

"ARGHHH!!!" I squatted and got into a counter stance, and the moment my hand sensed physical contact, I simply let the training kick in and took Rin's pointers. After exchanging several blows kicks and punches, we were both panting audibility, but by then my vision had fully recovered.
For the first time during that fight, I had a good look of her eyes. Her left eye was brown and amber with nothing special to it, the other was red. Like a living sapphire incrusted into a person's eye. But I didn't have time to figure the matter behind that story as my stamina is reaching its limit, and I needed to close out the fight quickly.
I clutched my fist and played out the scenario in my head one more time.

Looks like it's the only way...

I clutched tight of my fist, then made the initial strike.

Seeing my reaction, a flash of silver came out from her left side and wasting no time she dashed straight at me with her hair flying behind her. And it was just before the moment we were about to clash I extended my arm and shouted:

"Laser beam!"

A red-hot beam of energy blasted straight out of my palm, but instead of hitting her, the beam seemed to hit a solid surface; sparks danced everywhere and a million bits of metallic shards exploded into all directions.

By the time the suspense was over, we both stood completely frozen, with me extending my palm right past her head and with her holding the hilt of a broken blade at my throat.

Awkward, you could say.
