[32] Currents

Being caught in rapid is like swimming inside a giant laundry machine; you don't. Half drowning, and half wondering where my head was. I took a breath whenever I could, but instead of catching air I found myself swallowing gallons of water. Merely seconds has passed since the fall, yet it felt like an eternity being caught within that watery hell. Over the course of seconds, I gradually feel the torrent becoming tamer, like from heavy wash to light wash. It was the struggle of a life time as I made the most out of a breath whenever there is room, before being dragged down by the merciless torrent into the depth of chaos once again.
That's when I feel I began to fall.
Though, surrounded by water, I could feel the wind coming up from below, sending its cold regard towards my stomach. Before I could fully grasp the full picture, my back felt like it slammed on a solid surface when it was really just water. But due to the momentum of the fall, I soon found myself trapped in water from all sides, as I really gone too deep this time.

It's dark...

It's cold...

And I am alone...

Curses!

Holding onto that last thought, I propelled myself upwards all the way from the depths and towards the surface. Once above water, I realized, the water here was calm and silent which was complete opposite from rapids of above. For a moment I stayed afloat as I went through a bit of planning inside my head:

Where am I?

And where's that bastard who fell down with me?

...

Whatever. I first need to get out of here...

"Rin, you haven't drowned yet right?" I called out of the darkness, as I raised my left arm.

"Of course! Who do you think I am?"
A light hologram appeared from my arm.

"A useless AI who is literally the text book example of annoyance."

"If that's really your answer, then good luck on your own. BAKA!"

The blue light faded.

"Rin! This is no time for jokes, I am serious."

No response.

I cleared my throat and tried again:
"I was only joking, I need you Rin!"
No response.

"Rin! You are an important companion to me alright, some help would be really appreciated right now..."

Still no response.

I sighed and gave in:

"My fairest and cutest AI, would you please answer to your masters' call?"

"I don't recall the part of you being my master." Rin's blue light popped up once again.

"I am your host and the body is mine, so it only make sense that I am your master!" I said dismissively.

"Ha? If you really think that way, then you are on your own again!" Rin said, clearly agitated.

"Alright, let's just get to shore first. You can have all the debate you want, once we are there. Flashlight please."

"Fine. Hmph." Rin said with a grumpy tone. A brief moment later a cone of blue light illuminated the waters around me. Once reassured by the light, I began to swim forward in one direction on stop in a free style form. You could say I was a decent swimmer, as I participated swimming clubs all the way till before high school. Though somewhat out of practice, it was a short swim to the shore that took less than a minute. Once, on the shore, I threw my back against the ground as I have never been so happy to be on land again. After stretching to the full, I sat up again and aimed my flash light towards the waters.

There seems to be nothing...

No...Wait...

Caught at the very edge of my sight, was a drifting dark mass, for a moment I thought it was just a log. But upon closer inspection I realized it was a person, and most likely the one who fell with me.

I stared and gulped, as its lifeless corpse drifted towards my direction. It only took me a moment to realize that at this rate, his corpse was going to drift onto the shore very soon, and by then I have to make a decision.
He killed Baldie and perhaps a lot more, I must kill him...

The same sense of hatred for Soul Steel didn't quite apply to him. And just the thought of taking a life, brought my mind all the way back to the Deathwalker scene.

That was purely self-defence, and I didn't have a choice...

But now...

So I switched minds and decided to take this from a more fundamental perspective.

I am a solider, and they are my enemy. It only make sense for me to eliminate them...

Yet, I wasn't brainwashed enough by the military to do so. Since I haven't been in the army for long and I was still a civilian at heart.

He appears to be unconscious and has no weapons, it will be unmoral for me to kill him...

As my thought train continue to ran, the body parked on the rocky shores. With trembling muscles and over hyped senses, I stood up and slowly approached the body. My forehead ceased as I shone my light upon the body, it was only till then I realized the figure was wearing a MS armor. It was an MS armor I never seen within the military before, it was black from tip to toe. It was not huge and bulky like the standard military MS, but rather slim and lightly equipped in terms of armor. And instead of having a thin line as a visor, its face was smooth with a single glass eye in the center.

I stood there and found myself taking in shakily breathes, not knowing what to do.

That is purely self-defence, and I don't have a choice...

I am a solider, and they are my enemy. It only make sense for me to eliminate them...

He appears to be unconscious and has no weapons, it will be immoral for me to kill him...

Chaos wrapped around my head, as I couldn't land upon a decision. But in the end, it was my curiosity that won out in end.

What kind of face does the killer is behind that helmet...

With that thought, I crouched down and reached to take the helmet off. The moment I took it off, water came leaking out of it. By the time I had the helmet fully removed, I was utterly speechless, or simply dumb struck one could say.

The person face was pale, with long wet black hair mattered all over it.

Oh shit...There is no way...

To end my suspicion, I pushed aside the wet hair on the person's face, and the results couldn't be more obvious.
The killer of Baldie and the other soldiers; was a girl.

Q: Have you ever accidentally fell into a lake or sea before?
