IMPOSSIBLE. I glanced back at the clock resting on the table.

11:56

He wouldn't miss it.

There is absolutely no way he would.

This has never happened-not once since the day we met has he missed it.

Maybe he just didn't realize what day it was.

He couldn't have forgotten it.

He just got his days mixed up.

11:57

No.

No.

No.

No.

No.

No.

I glanced down at my phone, hoping that maybe I missed his text the last forty times I checked.

Nothing.

I'm not even sure he has a phone anyway.

So maybe he wanted to, but couldn't because he doesn't have a phone.

11:58

There was no school today, it's Saturday. So I didn't have any proper reason to accidentally bump into him and remind him what today was. Not that he ever needed reminding.

He's always been here.

Never once had he forgotten.

Because he was my best friend and best friends don't forget.

11:59

No.

No.

No.

No.

No.

No.

No.

No.

Please, no.

I glanced back down at my useless phone.

Maybe he was doing this on purpose. To scare me and he was just gonna pop out of no where.

That didn't seem like a Joey thing to do, but I couldn't think of any other reason why I haven't heard from him today.

12:00

No.

He forgot.

For the first time since I've met Joey Lynch, he forgot my birthday.

AUTHOR TALKS!!
Double update because the last chapter was too copy+paste to leave you with just that.

I have almost every chapter up to fifth year already written, but there are like five that have me in a strange writers block and it's pissing me off.
