Transfer (03)

Jae Won High, with its many departments, had quite a few classrooms on every floor. And it seems Yunhee was set on entering each and every one of them, slamming the door open without notice, walking in and scanning the room, and finally exiting with a simple "nope". After leaving the cooking department bewildered, some especially curious students decided to follow after her, possibly in shock, to figure out her goal.

Over and over again this continued, and eventually, she came to the final class in the 2nd year hall, the famous and equally infamous fashion department. Door, scanning, "nope", and turning to leave. Same as always, huh? Well, it's a bit different, since the 'curious students' are a bit different as well. A taller boy who many would call handsome-though Yunhee's first thought was forgettable-was quick to get up at the noise and seemed prepared to follow along. Soon after he got up, a rather loud girl followed suit along with an incredibly short kid with glasses. The short kid was almost clinging to the boy and girl's dust, as they raced off without him.

"Um, excuse me, are you looking for something?"

Turning the corner, Yunhee ascends the stairs; silently, of course.

Baffled, the tall boy couldn't find the words to respond to silence. Luckily his friend seems more than willing to step in. Aggressively. She grabs Yunhee's wrist and forces her to face them, ready to hear an explanation. Or she would if Yunhee didn't keep walking, dragging the smaller girl behind.

"Daniel, I got her, but I can't hold on for long!" She is being dragged further and further and further away. Look at her go.

"Zoe, you shouldn't do that! It's not that important!" 'Daniel' tries to reason her out of grappling Yunhee, but she is set on it. Her conviction with holding down Yunhee isn't helping the gap steadily growing between her and her friends, however. The kid rooted in Daniel's shadow is rather quiet and doesn't seem too interested in getting involved just yet.

Daniel doesn't recognize our dear Yunhee, which must be rather concerning considering her rather... bizarre behavior. Surely if she were always a student here, he would have heard of or seen her before now, right? Even more confusing is why she's searching each room, and seems less than willing to answer any questions.

And it begins anew, Yunhee slams open the first in quite a long line of classes, steps in. Zoe is really clinging to that door now, but Yunhee fails to notice. Seems the wood wall is about to snap, either that or Zoe's arm, even split at this point if she doesn't relent. Daniel finally steps in, grabbing Zoe's clenched fist and rapidly tapping Yunhee's shoulder.

"Please, can you just tell me what you're doing? Everyone is getting pretty concerned."

Finally, Yunhee turns towards Daniel and walks forward. Right out the door again.

"Nope"

Was that in response to Daniel or just her typical response to whatever failing the classroom had? Whatever the case, Daniel is not moving. He might actually be in shock, but Zoe presses on nevertheless.

"Hey! Do you plan to disrupt every class until everyone goes deaf?"

"Huh? I'm trying to find a first-year, why would anyone go deaf?"

"First?" Ah, now Zoe's not moving either. In fact, it seems everyone in earshot has turned to stone as Yunhee walks towards the next door.

This is the third floor which, fittingly, is home to third years. Who would have known?

Zoe seems about ready to tear this bewildered silence in two, but someone is faster to step in. Her blonde hair whips across Zoe's face as she wraps an arm around Yunhee's shoulder and begins guiding her towards the stairs.

"Looks like our transfer student doesn't understand the layout yet, so I'll just head out with her!" Mary and Yunhee quickly descend to, presumably, the first floor, with Mary laughing the whole way down.

The small kid with glasses watches them as they pass by, contemplating something. Maybe he thinks our Yunhee is rather cute? Or probably wondering how she could so effortlessly commit social suicide, as a safer bet.

It doesn't take much time at all to reach the 1st floor, since Yunhee was kind enough to not struggle as Mary held her wrist and almost ran down the flight of stairs.

"So, I'd give you a tour of the school, but you seem to have already taken care of most places on your own." Mary chuckles while Yunhee begins lazily moving their chained arms. Mary turns back to see what's up, but Yunhee quickly increases her arm movement, and soon enough worried first years can almost hear a popping noise from Mary's arm. Though, if it was anyone else they'd probably be down an arm instead of mildly in pain.

"Ah! Why didn't you just tell me to let go?!"

"Oh no, my arm was just a bit itchy. Carry on." Yunhee grabs Mary's hand and carefully wraps it around her wrist yet again. Mary is silent. She releases Yunhee's arm, leaving it to fall limp to her side as Yunhee just watches, clearly perplexed.

Blinking, Yunhee turns her gaze towards Mary. "Ah, is your arm numb now? You should walk it off if it is, or I guess a handstand would work better."

Mary pauses for a second, but soon links arms with Yunhee and heads towards the south side of the hall, not bothering to hide her wide grin.

The rest of the walk is rather... normal and relaxing. The second and third years following the commotion begin to disperse as the two girls are simply going on a small tour. They'll pass a class and Mary will quickly name off the department and every time Yunhee responds with a mere "nope" or just continues walking. Between doors, there's light conversation: "where are you from", "why'd you transfer", "how was it abroad". Of course, Yunhee never gave a reasonable answer: "Brazil", "they were coming for me", "everything was pretty white". Nonsense, but Mary is rather pleased with it all, nonetheless.

Finally, after passing every first-year class, Mary and Yunhee stopped in front of the computer department. "Are you kidding me? It was the last class!" Mary turns to Yunhee, probably hoping she'd share her annoyance.

"The walk was good enough." A rather roundabout way to say 'I enjoyed your company', yet the blonde's rage quickly dissipates as she grabs Yunhee's hand and bashes open the door.

The entire class is already focused on the pair before the door even opens. Were they too loud outside perhaps? Or maybe because of their easy access to a computer they already heard the news online of the dreaded door slammer of Jae Won High School. Hopefully they'll workshop that moniker to something a little cooler than 'door slammer'.

However, there is one kid that doesn't bother turning away from his screen. Yunhee didn't hesitate walking towards the purple-haired boy, as she put both hands on the back of his chair, and spun it. A bit too much maybe, as he goes around a couple of times before she slows it down. Yunhee looks down towards the rather nauseous boy.

"Dying your hair like that, why?"

Hair. Hair? Dozens of classrooms, a hundred panicked students, and a possible hit to the whole school's reputation, for hair. That purple-headed student should be known for far more than their hair.

"Who the hell?"

"I. Am. Yunhee. Purple hair doesn't suit you but you're still cute and tiny."

"Huh? Tiny? Wait-"

"Oh wait, it's lunchtime, have fun." And just like before Yunhee leaves without any further acknowledgment, while Kouji glares at her back. Though he soon enough turns back around to his computer. His classmates swarm around him, rather concerned that he-who they seem to call Kouji-might have been scared or hurt.

"What should I get to eat?" Despite being the target of Yunhee's lethargic rampage, 'Kouji', moves on startlingly quickly.

"Um Kouji, what was that all about?"

"What was what about?"

"The door slammer charged in here to insult you!"

"No clue, not important, get a life already." And that ended that, as the students slowly shrink away to their desks or the cafeteria.

-------

In the hall Mary seems ready to drag Yunhee to the cafeteria, probably to hound her on her rampage. Sadly a pair of shades has finally tracked down his blonde friend again.

"Where the hell have you been? You know I can't find the bath-" He pauses, recognizing Yunhee a bit late. Well, he sees Yunhee and Mary with linked arms. "Oh, you little traitor!"

"It's not treachery if I was always on her side!"

"She tried to make a fool of me!"

"And it was fantastic! Did you see your face?" Mary releases Yunhee, using her fingers to push her face into a rather good mockery of Vin's expression.

Yunhee watches the two banter and bicker and pulls out a small book from her pocket. She moves to open to a certain page, but pauses. Looking back to the pair, she turns away, tucking the book away again with trembling hands. It's all too familiar, way too familiar. And yet scarily foreign. It would be better to leave it as is, at least, that's what she must think.

Mary finally finishes mocking Vin and remembers Yunhee's goal of getting lunch before class. "Oh yeah, we should head to the cafeteria, the snack bar should have-" Mary turns to hold Yunhee's arm once again, but she's long gone.
