I'm Esmerald! I know we personally already know each other, but would you mind telling the readers your name (on / off) Wattpad?

Hello, I am Music_Nerd31, but I like to be called Nerdy!

Nice to meet you, Nerdy! I saw you are currently writing an LGBT+ story called "The Restored and The Broken". Would you mind telling us a bit about Aakash, who I believe is the main character?

Of course!! As a quick summary, "The Restored and The Broken" is about the story of two friends who go through life, desperately trying to survive. The story has two main characters, but Aakash is one of the ones we see grow. Aakash is the most popular male in the senior grade and is a basketball player. We see this character develop from his mental torture.

Aakash sounds very fascinating! What type of mental torture does he have? Is it something similar to depression?

Thank you! He was difficult to create. Yes, he has depression, as well as severe anxiety and a stuttering disorder.

You're welcome! Aakash is a very interesting name! I don't see a lot of characters with a name like his! How did you come up with his name?

Thank you. Well, Aakash is Indian, so I wanted his name to keep his culture. Also, my mom gave me ideas, but I did research, and I found his name!

I had a hunch his name might have been inspired by another culture! Now, many people who have anxiety and depression, have a friend or someone close to them to talk to. Does Aakash have anyone he can talk to?

Actually, no! When readers read the story, a secret meaning I put in there is that he never gets help in his high school life because he is seen as popular, and in his parent's eyes, he shouldn't have a problem with his mental health. Obviously, when you are ignored for some time, especially by your parents, your mental health will get worse.

Aww no! It's sad he has no one to talk to, but this character is a true representation that not everyone who is popular has no problems in their life. I saw that Aakash's parents are forcing him to marry a girl named Kyla Jones. Is Kyla a spoiled girl with a lot of attitude or is her personality different than what most might think?

Well, I can't spoil anything, but she is both. She genuinely loves Aakash, and at this point, we never know what will happen.

Ah, okay! I saw this story has nearly 1,000 reads, which I believe is a very big accomplishment and it makes me curious to know something: was there a time when you had doubts about this story? If so, would you mind sharing what caused them?

It is an accomplishment, and it makes me happy! At the moment I have doubts because it can get worrying when I have writer's block. Plus, it is sad when you work hard on a plot and then you forget what you were going to write!

I can understand the struggles of writer's block! Something that helps me overcome writer's block is going outside for fresh air or listening to music. What do you do to help get over writer's block?

One way I get over writer's block is I re-read my books and I sometimes (I might sound crazy) talk to myself about the new ideas I can do!

Actually, that doesn't sound crazy to me! I reread my books sometimes too! Let's talk about your hobbies. Seeing that your name is Music_Nerd31, I bet that likely means you love music! What's your favorite music?

Music is my LIFE! It is perfect. I love Pop, Rap, Indie, Rock, Hip-Hop, Electro, Instrumentals, and anything that pumps me up in the morning!

Wow! I love music too, my personal favorite is pop because it can be relaxing and then has a get-up-and-go tone! Have you ever made music before?

Yes, actually! I have three music accounts on different music apps. I make instrumentals though.

Interesting! What apps do you use to make music?

Bandlab, Flat, and SoundCloud. :)

I've heard of SoundCloud but not the other two! Since you make the instrumental parts of music, have you ever thought of collabing with another person who could do the lyrics?

Nope! I make all instrumentals, no lyrics.

That's perfectly fine! Have you ever made instrumental parts for your books?

Yes, actually! A long while ago though... about 2-3 months ago.

Ooo! Are you planning on making any instrumental parts for "The Restored and The Broken"?

Yup! I've already made 2 or 3 I think.

Cool!! Besides music, do you have any other hobbies?

I like to draw, read, play video games, and learn about random things!

Fascinating! I love reading about random things too. Going back to your book, what inspired you to write "The Restored and The Broken"?

What inspired me was myself and SOME of the concepts were inspired by other stories as well. Also, I put a bit of myself into the characters.

Amazing! I do the same with my characters as well! Out of all the characters you've made, what character do you believe relates the most to you?

At this point, I think I relate to Aakash the most because even though I don't have abusive parents, I can understand his pain of depression and anxiety, as well as the stuff he thinks. But I also relate to Lightning's life too. To be honest, both characters represent times of my life, just without the physically abusive parents and bullies.

Oh! Based on how you described his personality, Aakash could relate to me too in some ways. You said Aakash has bullies. If I may ask who is his main bully?

The main bully is named Noah Harold, and like Aakash, he is also a popular sport, except he uses his depression in a more... how should I say this... eviler way? His family is also rich due to generations of fathers going into the army or high-end government jobs! But even Noah has his problems.

Yes, everyone has problems in their lives - even bullies. I'm sure readers wouldn't want this whole amazing book to be spoiled, so let's move away from it. What kind of books do you like to read (on / off) Wattpad?

I like to read Dystopian, Thriller, Realistic Fiction, and Fanasty storied! I am currently trying to read "1984" by George Orwell, as well as trying to read a Stephen King story from my school library. It's called "Black House" I think.

Wait, "1984"?! I read that book in my English 2 Honors class last year!! It was pretty cool! Who's your favorite author?

Cool! I was supposed to read it this year, but life changes unexpectedly. I don't have a favorite, honestly! Irl, I like comic books. And my favorite Wattpad authors are stayonbrand SevenDarkEnds AuthorNessaMarley TheWordArtistBooks LynetteMiller932 and my favorite poetry author is yourstrangeness . I love a LOT more though.

Wow, you have a lot of favorite authors like me! Going back to your love of music, I, and I'm sure the readers, are curious to know: do you think that music has made you become a better author?

Music perhaps hasn't helped me become a better author, but it sure has made me a more open person!

Nice! Sadly, this interview has to conclude. Before it does, I have one more question for you: what is the best piece of advice you could give aspiring authors?

Aw man, that's a shame! Make a story that relates to you in some way. Yeah, you may want to be the next J.K. Rowling or Stephen King but writing a story that relates to you not only helps you become better as an author, but more people will appreciate you. Also, don't write for fame but for you. Fame only comes to the unexpected and hard-working.

Very inspiring advice! Well, we have come to the end of this interview. Thank you so much for your time! It was an honor to talk with you and you had very amazing answers to my questions!

You are VERY welcome and thank you and the Gemme Community for interviewing me. :)

You're welcome! I hope this interview helps you get more reads and followers in the future!
