DRAWING THE HAIR

Hey! This is a little photoshop guide to obtain this result:

I don't necessaraly think that the after is better than the before concerning the hair ─ it totally depends on what you are trying to achieve! For me, I think it goes better with the aesthetic I like my graphics to have, even if it looks a little fake. I think it's easier to play with the lighting this way. Also, this isn't a set method, just a base! I always tweak it and end up with so much more layers than showed here.  So here we go!

First off, you are gonna need two types of setup for your brush. The first one looks something like this: 

You can easily find it on DeviantArt by typing "hair brush photoshop" or make it yourself. You also want to have something like this for the settings:

Using the brush, you are first gonna draw the shape of the hair. Don't worry if it's rough. Then, you gonna add layers with different colors: I usually do one darker and multiple ones going lighter each time. You can also play with the size of the brush!

The next step is to use a simple round brush with the size 1px. Keep the same settings as before. You are gonna draw individual hair, focusing on the outline. Same as the last step, you can add as many layers as you want - going with a lighter shade each time.

There you go! Next, just play with lighting, the colors and the background!
