"Hey brat!" your older sister pushed you walking by you as you were playing with your broken dolls that your mother broke out of anger and didn't even apologize or acknowledge. She then pulled your hair "answer me stupid!" She kept tugging you were begging her to stop you were even crying you looked over to see your mom and dad eating doing nothing as your sister kept hurting you "daddy please help!" You called out to your father as he was looking at his phone instead of you "hush (Y/N) can't you see I'm reading maybe if you would've answered your sister this wouldn't have happened." He snapped not even looking your way, you looked over to your mom who was eating she then looked over at you and stared at you for a few seconds then laughed. Your sister then let go pushing you fully to the ground you had enough as you kicked and screamed feeling helpless. You landed a hit on your sister she then started crying it got the attention of your parents your dad then grabbed you by the arm pulling you upstairs as your mother comfort your sister who looked at you smiling the whole thing was an act.
Your father had pulled you up to your room it was small and all you had in it was a bed it was really small though and it only had a torn up blanket. He threw you in roughly "stay in here and I don't want to hear you make a sound and if I do I'll beat you to the ground you understand?" He threatened you only nodded your head in fear he then slammed the door. You started to cry it was dark you hated the dark you hated this family you kept crying and crying.

You gasped as you woke up, you felt your face feeling tears it was dark but you had on glow in the dark stars and a night light that dimmed the room a bit. You wanted your dad, he wasn't your birth dad, but he was better then him. He adopted you four years ago you still have nightmares about your old family but now it's a little rare. You got up out of bed going to the door and turning the knob slowly, the hallway was dark it reminded you of your old room you couldn't stop yourself from looking around seeing if there was anything out of the ordinary. You then sprinted to your dads room you saw that it was cracked open so you lightly pushed it further. You looked in to see that he wasn't in there his bed was messy thought and you saw a beer bottle on the floor you sighed you knew where he was.
You walked downstairs slowly you had your hand on the rail as it slid down once you reached the bottom you saw your dad on the couch in the living room drinking something and looking at a picture. You could hear quite sobbing coming from him, you walked over to him grabbing his hand getting his attention. He looked over his eyes were bloodshot as he was crying for awhile his cheeks were stained with tears and he had a bit of snot but he wiped it away when he looked over at you he sniffed then his gaze softened.
"H-hey little dude..s-sorry did I wake you or-" he stopped as he gulped up air as he looked like he was about to cry again, you climbed on top of the couch to sit on his lap you grabbed the whiskey bottle and put it on the floor you then grabbed the picture frame and carefully placed it on the table.
"I-I don't kn-know why you-you try I'm just a disappointment a-a failure as a fa-father why, why, why? I let her down I-I them down I-I why, why, why?" He rambled and asked not looking at you but you knew he was asking you then hugged him, "I-I came to find you because I had a dream about my old family I was scared and I came looking for you to make the dark thoughts go away. I came to you because I knew you could chase them away daddy" you looked up at him as he looked down at you his eyes were filled with tears "you're not a disappointment, daddy I love you and they do too." That broke him as he let out a heartbreaking sob as he held you close to him he hugged you as if you would float away from him.
But you weren't going anywhere.
