Chapter 19💜🦋

Hello😀

I didn't even expect that message from our HOD. So, Mr. Aayush Kumar is also leaving for the trip and leaving me alone? I pouted, fell back onto my bed, and opened his photo in my phone using Snapchat's 'My Eyes Only' feature.

Even his black silhouette in the rain echoed his voice, the one he always raises at me, no matter where or when.

Why do you always shout at me like that, huh? I stared at his face and thought,

Ginger eaten monkey kooda ivlo urru nu face vachirukaadhu.

(Even a monkey that ate ginger wouldn't have made such a sour face.)

I groaned, lightly bumped my forehead against the phone lying on the bed beneath me, and then shifted to lie beside it, staring at the ceiling while biting my lips in thought. After a minute of zoning out, I grabbed my phone, then rolled onto my stomach, and dialed his number.

"Hello"

His warm and calm voice made me smile, and I thanked him for something I wasn't even sure I was referring to without a second thought.

Was it because he agreed to go on the IV trip, or because he was speaking calmly to me? I'm not exactly sure what it was for.

But when I expected him to lash out, thinking that I'm thanking him because I believe he's going on the trip just because I asked him to. I know how his mind can twist things in the silliest ways.

But surprisingly, he said he was just frustrated, which was why he raised his voice, and he said this to me calmly, almost as if comforting me which was the biggest wonder. That made me smile widely.

I mumbled that it was okay, said bye, and ended the call after hearing him say bye in return. I rolled onto the bed, ready for two days of sleep, phone, eat, and repeat, as it's the weekend. But my rest would be tinged with the thought of my classmates and professor going on the IV trip and leaving me alone for three days.

On Monday,

We prepared for the review, memorizing the points we needed to present to the external.

"It is a type of malicious software that.. that.."

"Threatens"

Kamali corrected me.

"Haan, that threatens to publish or blocks access to data or a computer system, usually by encrypting it, until the victim pays a ransom fee to the attackkke..ker. Haa.."

I froze, eyes wide and mouth slightly open with an audible gasp, when
Mr. Greek God walked into our class wearing a navy blue shirt, light beige pants, and his sleeves rolled up.

"Good morning, students"

He greeted us. While we stood up and greeted him back.

"Good morning, sir"

That's it I sat on my place and everything went deaf into my ears what all he says afterwards.

The rolled-up sleeves gave a perfect view of the veins on his forearm, making my own veins feel like they stopped working. His usually intertwined fingers paused briefly and his index finger stretched to scratch the area below his ear before intertwining once more, making me feel a surge of possessiveness.

The song lyrics of 'Azhagai koora tamil'il illai sorkkal' make some sense to me now.

(To lament about your beauty, there are no words in Tamil.)

I was just watching his eyes as they scanned the students, but when his gaze met mine for a mere second, I quickly looked away, releasing a huge breath I hadn't realized I was holding. The intensity of that brief glance felt like it could kill me on the spot.

"So, understood?"

He asked, and I had no idea what he was referring to.

"Yes sir"

Only a few students responded, mostly the boys, which made me frown. Then, when I turned back, I noticed the girls openly gawking at him, their eyes practically twinkling with hearts. I was shocked and turned to my right to complain to Kamali, hurriedly hitting on her thigh, but was stunned again to see her completely drooling over him.

I gritted my teeth and stared at him, who continued speaking sincerely despite knowing the girls were gawking at him. I glared at him, fists clenched, and my gaze suddenly fell on the steel water bottle on my desk. Without a second thought, I pushed it off the desk and onto the floor.

The metallic clatter of the bottle was followed by a few sighs from the girls and a glance from my professor.

Mine. How dare they?

He finally stopped talking, and I stood up, crouched slightly to retrieve the bottle, and sat back down. I placed the bottle with a thud on the table, crossed my arms under my chest, and looked at him with a straight face who was biting his lower lip, seemingly trying to hold back a smile.

Then, as I continued to stare at him without blinking, he took a deep breath and turned towards the students, saying,

"Okay, guys. Answer me the attendance now."

I smirked.

Andha oru bayam irukkanu.

(Have some fear like this.)

I twisted my lips and turned towards Kamali with a blushy smile. However, it quickly turned into an innocent one when I saw her glaring at me.

"Ennaachu, Kamali?"

(What happened, Kamali?)

"Yen di epdiyum nee dhane avara mulusaa vachukka pora? Oru one month ku kooda engalukku thara maatiyaa?"

(However, you're going to have him completely. Can't you give him to us for a month?)

I squinted my eyes and raised my brows in an intimidating manner.

Give him to 'us', huh?

"Naan enna kundhavi'aah? Illa nee dha Aishu'vaa?"

(Am I Kundhavi? Or are you Aishu?)

I asked her. And she gulped.

"Amma thaaye. Neeye vachukko avara"

(Fine. You keep him for yourself)

She surrendered. I rolled my eyes and turned towards him as he received a pen from one of the girls, which made me sigh in frustration. I exhaled through my mouth and turned away.

Enakku'ne varuvinglaa di?

(Will you all have to come to my side willingly?)

But,

"Seetha"

I jerked and stood up from my seat when I saw him looking at me, expecting a response.

"Go and get me my red pen from my cabin"

Nodding with a wide smile, I ran out of the classroom.

I was on cloud nine, grinning all the way from my class to his cabin. I grabbed the pen from the table in the pen holder and headed back to the classroom. However, I stopped on the way when he came out of my classroom.

"Project report eduthuttiyaa?"

(Did you take the project report?)

He asked me all of a sudden.

"Mhum"

I just shook my head and gulped while staring at his handsome face. His beard was neatly trimmed, and there was a small stroke of chandhanam (sandalwood) on his forehead.

What a man !

"Pen kudu"

(Give me the pen)

He stretched his hand towards me.

Oh.

I extended my hand with the pen, and he took it carefully, making sure not to touch me.

"Thanks"

He thanked me, walked past me, and I was intoxicated by the mere scent of his cologne that reached my nostrils.

"Sir, oru nimisham"

(One minute)

I said it without knowing exactly why, and he stopped.

He turned towards me with his usual eyebrow raise.

I gulped, still wondering why I had called him.

"Seetha"

He called me as I nervously looked at him without saying anything.

"Haan. Dha..bha.. haan.. Neenga inniku romba handsome'aah irukkel"

(You look very handsome today.)

I said it, but his smiling face turned rigid. He looked around us and then left without saying anything to me.

I pouted for a moment but then grinned, following him with a hop in my step. I stopped right inside his cabin as he took my team's project diary report from his desk, bent down slightly, caught my wrist, and placed the diary in my palm.

"Leave"

He remarked, but I pouted at him as he let go of my wrist.

"Professor, I told you something"

I reminded him, but he turned and gave me a serious, stern look.

"Seetha, please. I'm begging you. Be serious. This is college-behave like that"

He sounded serious. I blinked at him and asked,

"Appo veliya vandhu sollatumaa neenga handsome'ahh irukkinga nu?"

(Then, what should I do? Should I say you're looking handsome, outside the college?)

He sighed.

"Seetha, you.."

I huffed and said,

"Sir please. Anga yaarum illa nu enakku theriyum. Adhaa sonnen. Naan onnu loosu illa ellaarum irukkumbodhu neenga handsome'ahh irukkel nu soldradhukku"

(Sir, please. I know there's no one there. I just said it. I'm not being foolish; as if I wanted to say that you look handsome when everyone is around.)

"Sevurukku kooda kaadhu irukkum nu solluvaanga. Theriyaadhaa?"

(People even say that walls have ears, don't you know that?)

He asked me, I sighed.

Oh, this old man and his theories.

"Sevurukku neenga handsome'ahh irukkel'nlaa theriyaadhu"

(Walls don't know that you look handsome.)

I tried to irritate him by adding that he is looking handsome in every sentence.

"Naan sevura sollala. Anga yaaraadhu dhideernu vandhirundhaa enna panneerpa?"

(I'm not talking about the wall. If someone had come there, what would you have done?)

He rolled down his sleeves.

"Vandhirundhaa, apdiye neenga dha enga appa handsome'aah irukkaaru nu sonninga, So, thank you so much sirrrrrrr nu naan sonnen nu solleerpen. But adhaa yaarum varlaye adhaa neenga handsome'ahh irukkel nu sonnen"

(If someone had come, I would have said that you were the one who said my father is handsome, and I would have said that I thanked you so much, sirrrrr. But since no one came, I just said you're handsome.)

I gave him a mischievous smile, and he rolled his eyes at me.

"Uff. Just leave, Seetha. I have a lot of work to do."

He sat on his chair and buttoned his cufflinks.

"Enakku kooda dha naraya vela irukku. Adha paaka vidaama ivlo handsome'ah en munnaadi vandhu ninnaa naan enna pandradhu sollungo?"

(I also have a lot of work to do. But how can I not notice how handsome you are when you come and stand in front of me? )

I asked him and he shook his head.

"Nee ipdiye loosu maadhiri peseetu iru. project'le fail dha aaga pora"

(Keep talking like a fool, and you're going to fail the project.)

"Adhellaa neenga mark potruvinga"

(I don't care; you'll give me marks anyway.)

He raised his brows, finally with a smile.

"Mmm. Nenappu dha. Olunga poi nalla present pandra valiya paaru po"

(Mmm. Think what you want. Just go and present well.)

Oh no, is he going to start lecturing me on how to present the project now?

"Nallaa dha pannuven. Ungalukaaga pannuven"

(I'll do it well. I'll do it for you.)

He frowned as he looked at me, but his lips still had a smile that he was trying hard to hide from me.

"Enakkaaga vaa?"

(For me?)

I grinned.

"Aama. En guide nalla enakku guidance kudutha naala dha nalla pannen nu solluven"

(Yes. I'll say that I did my project well because of my guide's good guidance.)

"Paapom. Anga edhaadhu vandhu olaru. Apro moonja kondu poi enga vachukuranu paakuren"

(Let's see. If you make a fuss there, I'll watch where you'll hide your face from me.)

He said and turned to take his laptop out of his bag.

"Paarunga paarunga"

(Watch and see)

I said and looked around, then at him, grinning when he noticed me.

He frowned first then when he seemed to understand my motive, he began to speak,

"Seeth-"

"I love you, professor"

I said and sprinted out, hearing him call after me,

"Idiot"

Hehe. It's so funny to see his frustrated and scared face.

I giggled and then went back to the class to concentrate on the final review. We prepared well and asked the teams who went before us how their review went. We learned that the external was very humble, which was a relief. So, as we were the 12th team, we left for the review after 1 p.m. and delivered our presentation perfectly, just as we had practiced.

The external praised us, saying,

"Good project. You guys did so well. Best of luck"

We thanked the external woman, and I looked at Aayush sir, who was smiling with a proud look at our project's output. Then, we left for the class with the relief of having successfully completed our final year project review. But, Kamali, Kalai, Pooja, Madhu, and Jiji cut the class for half a day and went shopping for their IV which was scheduled tonight.

I was all alone with very few of my classmates but I got busy getting the fees receipt to get the no-dues sign from the office. The only person whose signature we hadn't received was Aayush sir. That evening, before leaving the college, we went to get his signature. He was signing hurriedly with a smile, but when it was my turn,

"IV'ku kaettinglaa Seetha?"

(Asked about the IV, Seetha?)

He asked me suddenly, and I looked around and gulped.

Why is he asking me this with my classmates around?

"No, sir"

I answered.

"Anyways, get packed"

I frowned as he returned me the no-dues receipt with a smile and said,

"All the best for your exams"

Oh. I got the no-dues receipt, nodded my head, and mumbled a faint "thank you" before leaving the staffroom. I shoved the no-dues into my bag, pulling it to the front, puzzled.

Get packed?

Apdinaa?

(What does he mean by that?)

With the same confusion, I reached home after an hour and a half due to heavy traffic. But I stopped at the doorstep when I saw black and brown men's shoes at the entrance.

I gasped and moved aside to let the person pass as he stood in front of me.

Elangovan sir looked at me with a smile.

I gulped.

"Good.. Good evening, sir"

I shuddered in shock.

"Good evening, ma. Appo naanga kelamburo pa"

(Then, we'll take our leave, pa)

Elangovan sir said to my father.

"Poitu vaango"

(Sure)

Appa replied, clasping his palms, and Amma smiled at him, standing behind Appa.

And when I looked at Aayush sir, he just went away following Elango sir without even glancing at my way. I stared at them until they left, then hurried inside, following my mother who went into the kitchen to ask her,

Why did they both come here to my house?

And that too Aayush sir came inside for the first time !

Achacho, perumaaley. Andha kankollaa kaatchiye naan paakumpadiyaa senjirukalaam'le?

(Oh God! How could you even forget to let me witness that unbelievable thing?)
