Chapter Seven: Trust
"We can't trust him anymore, Harry!" Y/N heard Ron's voice echo as he regained his consciousness.
Y/N's ears rang as the voices got louder.
"He's our friend, Ron! He's basically our family, can't you see he's hurting?!" Harry argued as Y/N tried to open his eyes.
"Y/N." Hermione whispered with a smile as Y/N's eyes finally opened.
Hermione clutched Y/N's hand tightly with both hands. Her eyes began to fill with tears of joy.
"Am I in heaven?" Y/N asked, staring at her.
Her hair was messy and her eyes had bags under them but she still looked perfect.
Y/N looked around the room to see it completely empty aside from him, Hermione, Harry and Ron.
"You're finally awake!" Ron stomped up to him angrily with hostility.
"Oh, god. I'm in hell." Y/N groaned, finally sitting up on the hospital bed.
"You're a Death Eater!" Ron shouted, grabbing Y/N's arm harshly and pulling down his sleeve.
"Be careful, he's still recovering!" Harry scolded Ron, pulling him away.
"I'm sorry, Y/N. They got suspicious and I couldn't stop them-" Hermione was cut off by a kiss on the lips from Y/N.
"It's okay, my love. It was bound to happen." Y/N sighed, tucking her hair behind her ear.
"Well? Go on. Scream at me. Report me. Get me locked up." Y/N stared at Harry who's opinion was the one that mattered.
Harry looked at him with furrowed eyebrows. His hands were curled into fists and he trembled, biting his lips to stop himself from letting tears fall. He couldn't believe one of his best friends, his brother, would be on their side.
"Why?" Harry croaked out with a shaky voice.
"Why? To protect my family." Y/N said straightforwardly.
"Y/N, he killed my parents and now you're part of them!" Harry shouted.
Hermione and Ron both went silent, letting the two speak.
"You were a brother to me!"
"Harry, just because he killed your parents, doesn't mean I'd be willing to let him kill mine!" Y/N shouted back, wincing at the sharp pain on his side.
"Y/N-" Hermione tried to speak, worried for Y/N's health.
"You can't seriously be angry at me for trying to save my family! You'd do the same thing!"
"That's not it, Y/N!" Harry looked away, refusing to look him in the eyes.
"I'm mad that you didn't tell us!"
Y/N's gaze fell down, he felt guilty. Hermione was right. They were basically a family, being best friends for nearly 6 whole years and yet he didn't tell them.
"Harry I-" Y/N tried to speak.
"Maybe if you had told us, we could've helped! We could have thought of something else! Then you wouldn't have to go through with this!" Harry cut him off, anger lacing every single word.
"Harry. I can't exactly go against Voldemort's wishes." Y/N sarcastically chuckled.
He always remained calm with everyone. Only Hermione could get past that.
"Stop that!" Harry shouted.
"Stop what?" Y/N questioned, raising an eyebrow at him.
"Stop talking about it like it's no big deal! Stop talking about your difficulties like it's fine!" Harry was now bawling as he spoke.
"Big talk for someone who always tries to do things on his own." Y/N scoffed.
Y/N's guilt grew even larger, clenching Hermione's hand as he spoke. Harry didn't see it but Y/N was just as nervous as he was. His hands trembled, only calming himself with Hermione's presence. He expected Harry to be angry that he had joined their side, not because he kept it from them, bearing it all on his own.
"The point is. You don't have to go at this alone..." Harry's voice finally softened as he wiped his tears off with his sleeve.
"I'm not alone. I have Draco." Y/N answered plainly, still refusing to suck up his pride and ask for help.
"Y/N, you know what I mean." Harry took a seat on the bed.
He tried to look Y/N in the eyes but he simply looked away.
"I can talk to Dumbledore, I could ask him to help you."
"Draco would never agree to that." Y/N instantly denied his help.
"He doesn't have to. I just need you to." Harry pleaded, finally meeting Y/N's eyes.
"Dumbledore will help both of you."
Y/N went quiet. He didn't believe Dumbledore would actually be able to help them properly. Not easily. But perhaps he could be of use to Dumbledore. His power was amazing for his age. Wandless magic and magic even his professor's didn't understand.
"Y/N." Hermione called out to him.
Y/N snapped himself out of his thoughts as Hermione's hold on his hand tightened.
"Okay." Y/N answered.
"I'll talk to him as soon as I can!" Harry smiled at him.
"You can't tell Draco. He won't accept it." Y/N warned.
"I'll have to continue on the mission with him, you know that right?"
"I know. Just. Please try and delay it until I've spoke with him." Harry sighed, knowing it wouldn't be that easy.
How could he possibly walk into Dumbledore's office and say 'hey, my bestie is a Death Eater, please save him.'. without seeming suspicious? He'd need to find the right time.
"You can't seriously be letting him off that easy?!" Ron spat, glaring at Y/N.
"Is it so hard for you to trust a friend?" Hermione glared at Ron.
"Let's go." Harry pulled Ron out of the door.
Y/N watched as they disappeared through the door, shutting it behind them.
"I told you he wouldn't abandon you." Hermione smiled at Y/N.
"Granger." Y/N said, opening his arms for her to cuddle up to him.
Hermione took the hint, getting off her seat and got on his lap, falling into his embrace.
"Where did he touch you?"
"Y/N, I-" Hermione was cut off by his lips pressing onto hers.
"Where did he touch you?" He asked once more as soon as their lips separated.
"Did he touch you here?" Y/N kissed her neck.
"Y/N-" Hermione gasped at his touch.
"Or here?" He kissed her collarbone.
"Y/N what are you doing?" Hermione playfully smacked Y/N's head.
"We're at the hospital!"
"Overwriting his touches." Y/N answered plainly before pressing his lips onto hers once more.
He managed to switch their positions, pinning Hermione against the bed. His lips lowered from hers to her collarbone once more, sucking at a certain spot he knew Hermione felt most sensitive.
"Y/N." Hermione scolded, pushing him off gently.
"Not in public."
Y/N looked around jokingly before staring back into her eyes.
"That's funny... I don't see anyone here but us." Y/N dramatically gasped at her.
"You know what I mean." Hermione rolled her eyes off him, flipping them over so that she was straddling Y/N.
She pressed her lips onto his, giving him a short yet passionate kiss before getting off him.
"Get your health back up first." Hermione said, tidying up her clothing.
Y/N clicked his tongue in annoyance but smiled anyways, watching as Hermione put her hair into a messy bun. He never told her but that's just the way he liked it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was the day of Gryffindor's quidditch game against Slytherin and Y/N, Harry and Hermione were sat on the Gryffindor tables eating breakfast.
The group had pretended their conversation in the Hospital never happened in order to keep it as a secret. They couldn't risk Y/N getting into big trouble. They all loved him very much, though in different ways. It was all depending on Harry now.
"So how was it, anyways?" Ron asked the trio.
Harry was eating a full mean, already in his quidditch outfit while Y/N and Hermione read the newspaper.
"How was what?" Hermione asked, placing down the newspaper that he and Y/N read together.
"Your dinner party?" Ron said with jealousy.
"Pretty boring, actually." Hermione replied.
"Though I think Harry enjoyed dessert."
"And I think you already know how it ended." Y/N sighed, leaning his head onto Hermione's shoulder.
His wound had already healed up overnight and Cormac was punished with many detentions with professor McGonagall.
"Slughorn's having a Christmas do, you know." Hermione brought up.
"And we're meant to bring someone."
"I expect you two will be going together." Ron looked away, still a bit angry at Y/N for being a Death Eater but he'll come around, he always does.
"Actually, I was going to ask you to come with us." Y/N said, he was trying to make up with Ron due to Hermione and Harry's concerns.
"Really?" Ron asked in shock.
"Yeah, but seeing as you don't seem to like me." Y/N shrugged his shoulders.
"Good luck, Ron!" A girl who Y/N recognized as Lavender Brown, one of Hermione's roommates came up to Ron.
"I know you'll be brilliant."
Y/N and Hermione exchanged odd looks but smiled at each other nonetheless. Perhaps Ron would finally be able to get over his crush on Hermione.
"I'm resigning. After today's match, McLaggen can have my spot." Ron leaned across the table as soon as she left.
"Have it your way." Harry said, pushing a cup over to him.
"Juice?"
"Sure." Ron picked it up.
"Hello everyone." A familiar sleepy voice greeted them.
Y/N looked up to see Luna Lovegood, wearing an odd Gryffindor hat. He smiled, thinking it was cute. It was nice of her to support her friends like this.
"You look dreadful, Ron. Is that why you put something in his cup? Is it a tonic?"
The group looked towards Harry who put an empty vial into his pocket. Hermione glared at him.
"Liquid luck." Hermione identified.
"Don't drink it, Ron!"
Ron ignored her, instantly downing the cup of juice.
"You could be expelled for that." Hermione scolded Harry.
"I don't know what you're talking about." Harry said cheekily.
"Come on, Harry. We've got a game to win." Ron smiled confidently, getting up to leave.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Y/NNNN... The match will start soon." Hermione scolded the boy who had her pinned against her bed.
The Gryffindor common room was empty. Everyone had already gone to support the Quidditch team.
Y/N's hands explored around her body as his lips met with hers, fully snogging.
"Y/N, seriously. We can't miss their game." Hermione tried to push him away but his lips refused to leave her, attaching himself onto her neck.
His hands reached down and into her buttoned pants, slightly grazing her damp underwear.
"Y/N." Hermione moaned at his gentle touch.
"Y/N. Seriously." Hermione pushed him to the side but kept the smile on her face.
A/N: Sike. I'm still recovering from my trauma from chapter five. If you guys want another smut, beg, you horny bastards >:( (love you guys)
"Cockblock." Y/N muttered, tightening his tie as Hermione neatened her clothing.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Quidditch match wasn't that interesting for Y/N. Since Draco left the team, he didn't find much joy in watching. Long story short, Gryffindor beat Slytherin and Ron was treated like a king for blocking one ball.
Y/N didn't go to the Gryffindor's after party even after being invited by Harry, Ginny, Hermione and even Ron. Instead he was leaning against an open fence at one of the castle's towers. It was snowing heavily and it was cold but it was nice. It helped him clear his mind.
Though Harry had offered to ask Dumbledore to save him and his brother. Y/N still had to help Draco fix the Vanishing Cabinet. He can't be suspected by him or Voldemort.
A presence entered the tower, alerting Y/N. He turned to see Draco walking up to him. No words were shared by the twins as Draco leaned against the same fence. Staring out into the winter grounds.
"About what you said." Draco spoke softly, breaking their long silence.
"About how I was always gold to you. Is that true?"
"It's true." Y/N couldn't help but smile.
Draco went silent once more. Lost in his thoughts. Y/N took a good look at him. At first Draco was confident, happy to be tasked with something from Voldemort himself. But since his necklace incident, the consequences had finally gotten to him. They weren't killers. They just wanted to save their family.
"You too, Y/N. You're gold to me." Draco said, wrapping his arm around Y/N's shoulder.
"You mean everything to me, baby brother."
Draco smiled. He hadn't done that in a while. Y/N's eyes softened as he matched Draco's expression.
"I'm still only a few minutes younger." Y/N chuckled, leaning closer to his brother.
"That still makes you my baby brother." Draco teased, ruffling Y/N's hair with his free hand.
"Not the hair!" Y/N complained, struggling in his hold.
Draco only ruffled his hair more, making Y/N groan in annoyance. When he finally let go of Y/N, the two were stuck in silence once more, staring out into the snowstorm.
"Y/N?" Draco was the one to break the silence once more.
Y/N turned to look at him, raising an eyebrow and humming out a response.
"Stay gold." Draco said with a soft and loving smile.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Since Y/N and I are going to Slughorn's party together, we've been worrying about you, Harry. You can't just take anyone." Hermione said as Y/N put away the books they both had been reading.
"See that girl over there?"
Y/N finally put the last book up on the shelf and looked towards where Hermione pointed. Hermione moved so that Y/N and Harry's stares wouldn't be obvious, positioning herself in front of the two boys.
"That's Romilda Vane. Apparently she's trying to smuggle you a love potion." Hermione explained.
"Really?" Harry asked almost expectantly.
"Oh god, I've had a fair share of love potions sent to me." Y/N groaned remembering all the love potions he had almost drunk throughout his years in Hogwarts.
"What a shame it is it be so perfectly handsome."
"Hey!" Hermione snapped her fingers at Y/N.
"No need to be jealous, Granger. I'm all yours." Y/N chuckled, walking behind her to wrap his arms around her waist.
"I'm not jealous." Hermione muttered, blushing at his hold.
She was always shy in public.
"Hey!" Hermione snapped her fingers once more, this time at Harry who stared at Romilda with a dreamy smile.
"She's only interested in you because she thinks you're the Chosen One."
"But I am the Chosen One." Harry smiled confidently.
Hermione smacked him hard on the head with her newspaper, making him flinch and lower his head in fear.
Wandless Hermione was a foe that they were still unable to defeat.
"Okay, sorry. Um, kidding." Harry mumbled, rubbing his head.
"I'll ask someone I like. Someone cool."
"Hey, Malfoy!" Cormac stormed through the stall to get to the trio.
"What do you want?!" Y/N spat at him, tightening his hold on Hermione protectively.
"I- uh." Cormac held a bottle of wine out.
"Wanted to apologize."
Y/N eyed the bottle suspiciously. Cormac must've learned that the Malfoy's were particularly adapted to loving wine.
"Did professor McGonagall send you?" Y/N questioned, still not letting his guard down.
"Uhm. Yes." Cormac gulped as Y/N accepted the bottle.
"Well- I'll be heading off now."
Y/N furrowed his eyebrows at the odd and awkward situation that had just occurred.
"Well. That was something." Harry broke their silence.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Draco placed a green apple into the Vanishing Cabinet as Y/N fiddled with his wand. They had made progress with the Vanishing Cabinet and they were ready to test it. It was the same day as the Christmas party meaning they'd have to be quick or else Y/N would be late.
"Ready?" Draco asked, shutting the cabinet door.
Y/N nodded before closing his eyes.
"Harmonia Nectere Passus." Y/N whispered.
They heard a small noise before Y/N opened his eyes. Draco opened the door of the cabinet. The apple was gone. Both boys smiled widely. That was one part done. Draco shut the door once more as Y/N closed his eyes.
"Harmonia Nectere Passus." Y/N casted again.
Draco opened the door and pulled out the apple which had a huge chunk of it missing.
They both sighed in frustration.
"Should we try it again?" Y/N asked as Draco stared at the apple.
"I think you have a party to be heading to." Draco stated.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"You. Hermione Jean Granger. Are beautiful." Y/N complimented, taking her hand.
They met up in front of the party and Y/N was amazed at how she looked. She wore a pink dress along with the bracelet Y/N had given her at the end of their second year. Her hair was half down, tucked away with a small clip.
Y/N smiled at the thought that Hermione had kept an item he gave her before they even started dating. An item he gave her 3 years ago. It was kept very well too, it still looked brand new.
"Pink is definitely your colour."
Y/N pulled her close, sharing a deep kiss with her making her squeal.
"You don't look too bad yourself." Hermione winked at him before pressing their lips back together.
"Y/N!" Cormac yelled from behind them.
"What?" Y/N spat, glaring daggers into the older boy.
Y/N could see Cormac shiver slightly. After their fight, Cormac still kept his hungry eyes on Hermione but would back off slightly whenever Y/N was near.
"How are you here?!" Cormac questioned.
Y/N and Hermione both raised an eyebrow at the boy. What kind of question was that?
Y/N felt Hermione shuffle behind him a bit. She was still a bit traumatized from Cormac's previous moves on her.
"I walked...?" Y/N looked at him as if he belonged in a mental hospital.
"The wine. Did you drink it?" Cormac asked suspiciously.
"I gave it to Ronald. Thank you for that, it helped us make up." Y/N genuinely thanked him.
"Wh-" Cormac began to speak.
"Let's go." Hermione pulled Y/N away leaving a dumbfounded Cormac there.
"You okay, my love?" Y/N asked, knowing fully well how uncomfortable Hermione was when Cormac was near.
They entered the room, greeting people that recognized them, especially Y/N.
Hermione noticed Cormac enter the room behind them, staring at Hermione with hungry eyes once more.
"Come on." Y/N pulled her behind a few curtains.
Y/N reached behind his neck, unclipping his necklace that his mother had given him prior. Hermione shot him a questioning look as his hands snaked around her neck, making her wear the necklace.
"It's a good luck charm. Now nothing can touch you." Y/N smiled, looking at his handy work.
"It belonged to my mother so it means a lot to me."
Hermione looked at the necklace with a soft smile. She loved it when he spoke about his mother. She could really tell how much he loved his mother.
"Thank you." Hermione spoke gently as Y/N's arms made it's way around her waist.
Hermione looked up at him, making the first move to let their lips meet.
"Y/N, Hermione." Harry entered the hidden area, startling the two.
Hermione was so startled, she accidentally headbutted Y/N's face, making him groan.
"Sorry." Hermione said with a worried tone, gently caressing his cheek.
"What are you two doing? What happened?" Harry questioned, making his way over.
"I mean, we were about to sno-" Hermione cut Y/N off by stomping on his feet.
"Aggressive, this one." Y/N muttered, clenching his teeth.
"We've just escaped. Cormac was acting very strange." Hermione answered, getting annoyed at the mention of him.
"Cormac?" Harry raised his eyebrow at them.
"Apparently, the little bugger still hasn't learned his lesson." Y/N sighed, turning to face Harry but kept an arm around Hermione's waist.
"He's got more tentacles than a Snarfalump plant." Hermione huffed, crossing her arms.
"Dragon tartare?" A waiter entered the area, offering a platter to them.
"No, I'm fine. Thank you." Hermione said with furrowed eyebrows.
"Just as well. They give one horribly bad breath." The waiter chuckled.
"On second thoughts..." Hermione grabbed the whole tray from him.
"Might keep Cormac from trying anything again."
Hermione began eating the Dragon tartare, making Y/N pout.
"It'll keep me from anything too." He muttered as Hermione chewed.
"Oh, god, here he comes." Hermione groaned, taking Y/N's hand while passing the tray over to Harry.
The two of them ducked, sneaking away before Cormac could catch them.
"Wanna dip?" Y/N asked, looking around for any eyes staring at them.
Hermione nodded, allowing Y/N to lead them out of the party.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A/N: Idc what anyone says. Harry is soft for Y/N.
