Chapter One: The Story Begins

"Y/N, Draco! Come down for dinner!" A woman's voice rang out through the giant manor.

A loud bang followed by tiny footsteps was heard with two voices, whispering in the room.

"Y/N! Draco!" Their father's voice called out now too.

"Go, Dobby! If dad finds out we were playing with you, you'll get into trouble!" Draco whispered in an urgent tone, pushing the small house elf gently away.

"Draco, quick! Mum's coming!" Y/N yelled, though in a hushed tone as their mother's footsteps approached.

"Y/N, Draco, what's taking so long?" Narcissa questioned as she made her way to the boy's room.

Though the Malfoy Manor was massive, Y/N and Draco had shared rooms since they were small. As babies, they would cry and scream whenever they were apart.

A yelp and a snap came from the small house elf, making him disappear where he stood, making the young boys sigh and relax just as soon as the door opened.

"Time for dinner, boys." Narcissa said, ushering the two boys gently out of the room.

They quickly made their way down the stairs and into the dining room where their father sat, holding a newspaper. After taking their seats, Y/N and Draco instantly dug into their food, hungry after playing many hours with each other in their room.

"So, Y/N and Draco." Their father, Lucius, called out their names, causing the two boys to look up, slowly lowering their forks.

"Yes, father?" Y/N asked after swallowing his mouthful.

"I have letters here, for you two." Lucius said, reaching into his coat's pockets raising the twin's suspicions.

The two boys stood up, making their way to their father who sat opposite them. They each received their neatly wrapped letters, carefully inspecting it.

"We got our Hogwarts letters?!" Draco shouted excitedly, his voice seemingly filled with more excitement than ever.

"We are pleased to inform you that you have a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment." Y/N read out, trying to hide his excitement but obviously failing.

Y/N lowered his letter, looking at his father and inspecting his reaction. Lucius smiled as his two boys as his wife came to stand next to him. Y/N ran to hug his mother who instantly locked her hand onto his blonde-locks, patting his younger son's head. Draco hugged his father who did the same.

"We'll gather your required items first thing in the morning." Their mother smiled warmly at them, filling their eyes with sparkles.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"First year's students will require three sets of plain work robes... one wand..." Y/N trailed off as they walked around Diagon Alley.

"How do we get our wands, father?"

"We'll get them at Ollivander's. A wand chooses his owner, you'll see when we get there, come along." He urged, walking as he puffed his chest out.

Y/N grabbed his mother's hand, walking alongside her as Draco held his father's, making sure not to get lost in the crowded alley.

"How about we split up? I'll go with father and you go with mother, Y/N." Draco suggested, a smile creeping up on his face.

"You bet I'll find everything with mother faster!" Y/N challenged, smirking as he gripped his mother's hand.

Lucius sighed, agreeing to the two's childish banter as to not let his children down.

So the hunt began, with Y/N dragging his mother along to every interesting shop he's found, causing him to have many detours in his shopping.

"Uniform... Books... Cauldron... I still need a wand." Y/N muttered as he carried a bundle of books in his hands.

"Run along then, I'll try to find your father and Draco." Narcissa spoke gently, warming his son's heart.

They entered a small shop, ringing a small bell as the door opened. The room was filled to the brim with small boxes, littering the shelves.

"Hello?" Y/N called out with confidence as he strode to the front of the store.

"Ah... Mr. Malfoy, your brother had just come in a few minutes ago!" Mr. Ollivander said cheerily from the storage of the shop.

Y/N raised an eyebrow as the man who suddenly emerged from behind shelves.

"I've come to get my wand, sir." Y/N announced respectfully as he watched the older man grab a few boxes.

"Try out this one, if you please." Mr. Ollivander said, unboxing a wand and handing it over to Y/N.

Y/N being the curious creature that he is, instantly waved it around, causing a huge flame to blow out of it, Y/N gasped with a smile at the interested reaction that the wand gave before instantly placing it back on the counter, his smile turning into a guilty face.

"Ah." Mr. Ollivander said, shocked at the reaction before scurrying off to grab a different wand.

"I've got just the wand."

Y/N accepted, waving the wand once more, causing windows to shatter making his eyes widen.

"Apparently not." Mr. Ollivander said, pulling out another box.

"Perhaps this one..."

He looked back at Y/N for a while before scurrying towards him and handing the wand gently to him. As soon as Y/N was handed the wand, a small gush of wind blew, creating a ring of blue flames around Y/N for a split second before disappearing.

"Interesting reaction... Interesting indeed... This wand has chosen you!" Mr. Ollivander cheered after catching his breath from the strange reaction.

"Are you sure it chose me?" Y/N questioned, inspecting the wand in his hand.

"Positive." He answered, scurrying off to return the wands Y/N had previously tried.

Y/N placed the money on the desk before walking out of the door, still curiously looking at his wand.

"Y/N!" Draco's voice called out from the crowd, gaining his brother's attention.

The gray-eyed boy ran over to Y/N, stopping just in front of him to show off his wand.

"Look! Mine blew wind when I swooshed it!" Draco said proudly, holding his wand as if it was a prize won from a contest.

Y/N smiled at his brother as his parents caught up to him with Dobby, carrying the twin's items.

"I'm excited, I wonder what interesting things happen in Hogwarts." Y/N beamed, aimlessly twirling his wand around, trying to get the same reaction as before.

------------------------------------------------------------------

"Hurry up, Father!" Draco yelled, pulling his father along by the sleeve as he pushed his cart with his belongings.

"The train leaves in 10 minutes!"

"You go on ahead. I think I've dropped something." Y/N said as he searched his pockets for a ring his mother had given him.

"I could wait for you, dear." Narcissa mumbled, stopping to wait for her son.

"No, really. I'll be there soon enough!" Y/N yelled before turning around and running off, taking his cart along with him.

Y/N didn't run very far when he had accidentally ran someone over.

"Oomph!" The other boy groaned as he fell due to the impact of Y/N's cart.

"I'm sorry!" Y/N yelled apologetically, running over to the side of whoever he'd accidentally run over.

"To be fair, you should of watched where you were going..."

"Me? It was you who ran into me!" The boy argued, still sitting on the ground.

"Right... Anyways, I'm Y/N. Y/N Malfoy." Y/N said, offering a hand to the fallen boy.

The boy accepted Y/N's hand, letting him get pulled up by Y/N, causing his hair to get messy.

"I'm Harry, Harry-" Harry started.

"Potter! You're Harry Potter, aren't you?!" Y/N gasped excitedly, his blue eyes seemingly lighting up like a gem.

"Right. How'd you know?" Harry asked, dusting himself off.

"You're popular in the wizard world!" Y/N explained, happy to find someone very interesting already.

"The boy who lived!"

"You don't happen to know how to get to Platform 9 3/4?" Harry asked after placing his hands back onto his cart.

"Yeah, I could show you the way after I find my mother's ring!" Y/N blurted as he finally remembered the reason why he had come back in the first place.

"You mean this?" Harry asked, pulling out a small silver ring.

"Yeah! Where'd you find it?" Y/N asked, putting the ring back onto his finger.

"Accidentally sat on it when I fell." Harry explained with a hum as he checked the time on a nearby board.

"Right, then. Follow me, father told me you need to head to a brick wall in between Platform 9 and 10. Do you wanna be friends, by the way?" Y/N asked as he walked towards a brick wall.

"Sure! You seem friendly!" Harry exclaimed, following Y/N.

"All right, Percy, you first." A ginger woman said as they arrived at the brick wall.

"Red-heads... They must be Weasleys." Y/N whispered to Harry who shot him a confused look.

The two boys watched with amusement as the boy named Percy ran into the wall, disappearing.

"Awesome..." Y/N grinned whilst Harry looked confused.

"Excuse me!" Harry yelled, pushing his cart along.

Y/N jumped, startled at Harry's voice as his attention turned to them.

"C-Could you tell us how to..." Harry stuttered.

"How to get onto the platform?" The woman asked kindly.

"Not to worry, dears. It's Ron's first time to Hogwarts as well."

The small ginger boy grinned at them, nodding his head.

"All you've got to do is walk straight at the wall between platforms 9 and 10." Molly Weasley explained, patting Harry's shoulders.

They didn't seem to recognize who Y/N was as they held no ill-intent towards him, Y/N decided not to cause drama.

"Best do it at a bit of a run if you're nervous."

"I'll go first!" Y/N exclaimed, excited at all the new things happening.

Harry nodded at him, nervous of his new friend having an accident. Y/N on the other hand was grinning, he loved new adventures. Without a hint of hesitation, Y/N sprinted into the brick wall, teleporting him in front of a black and red train. Y/N moved to the side, watching as Harry came through. They shared an excited, happy look before boarding.

-----------------------------------------------

"Excuse me. Do you mind? Everywhere else is full." The ginger boy from before said shyly, peeking into the compartment where Y/N and Harry sat.

Y/N was now silently reading a book called 'Hogwarts: A History' whilst Harry watched the views that passed them. Y/N folded his book and turned his attention to Ron.

"Not at all." Harry said, pointing to the seat in front of him.

"I'm Ron, by the way! Ron Weasley!" The boy introduced himself with a wide smile.

"I'm Harry. Harry Potter." Harry greeted, causing the boy's mouth to fall wide in shock.

"So it's true!" Ron exclaimed.

"I mean, do you really have the...?"

"The what?" Harry asked, furrowing his eyebrows.

"He means your scar, Harry. That's how I was able to tell who you were." Y/N said, opening his book back to the page he was reading.

"Oh." Harry smiled, lifting his bangs up to show Ron his lightning-bolt scar.

"Wicked!" Ron grinned.

"And you are?" He turned to Y/N.

"Y/N, Y/N Malfoy." Y/N said proudly with a smirk upon seeing Ron's shocked face.

"You're a Malfoy?!" Ron gasped, covering his mouth.

"In the flesh!" Y/N grinned.

"But- But- Malfoy's are supposed to be..." Ron muttered.

"Wicked?" Y/N imitated him.

"Well-" Ron started, not trusting Y/N.

"Anything off the trolley, dears?" A woman pushing a trolley filled with goods asked.

"No, thanks. I'm all set." Ron said, pulling out a squished sandwich before smiling meekly at the lady.

Y/N pulled out a small bag of galleons, smiling widely at the lady.

"We'll take the lot!" Y/N exclaimed, handing the lady the small pouch.

"Woah! But this doesn't mean, I'll trust you, Malfoy!" Ron gasped.

And so the trio began to snack on all of the lollies.

"Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans?" Harry questioned, reading the package of beans.

"They mean every flavor." Ron mumbled through mouthfuls of chocolate.

"There's chocolate and peppermint and there's also... spinach, liver and tripe."

Harry's face scrunched up before spitting out the bean in his mouth.

"Draco's eaten a vomit flavored one before!" Y/N beamed as he carefully unwrapped a chocolate wand.

"George sweared he got a bogey-flavoured one once too!" Ron added, scaring Harry from eating the rest of the beans.

"These aren't real frogs, are they?" Harry asked, picking up a box.

"It's just a spell. They're enchanted to move." Y/N explained before taking a bite of his chocolate wand.

"It's the cards you want anyways, each pack's got a famous witch or wizard. I've got about 500 meself." Ron interrupted Y/N once more.

"Watch it!" He warned as Harry's frog jumped out of the case and out of the window.

"Unlucky." Y/N clicked his tongue, watching the frog disappear.

"They're only got one good jump in them."

"I've got Dumbledore!" Harry exclaimed, watching the moving image in his hand.

"I got about six of him." Ron bragged.

"I've got about 40." Y/N challenged, teasing him.

"Bugger off, Malfoy." Ron groaned.

"Hey, he's gone!" Harry said in shock, interrupting the boy's small quarrel.

"Well, you can't expect him to hang around all day, can you?" Ron said through mouthfuls of lollies once more.

"Finish what's in your mouth first, Weasley." Y/N groaned, not used to Ron's lack of manners.

"Nevermind that, this is Scabbers, by the way. Pathetic, isn't he?" Ron introduced his pet rat.

"Just a little bit." Harry smiled.

"Fred gave me a spell as to turn him yellow. Want to see?" Ron asked, pulling out his wand.

"Yeah!" Harry said excitedly, moving in closer to Ron.

Ron cleared his throat, ready to do the spell when a girl with bushy hair walked by their door, searching their compartment with her eyes.

"Has anyone seen a toad? A boy named Neville's lost one." The girl asked, looking quite annoyed.

"Unless you can count Malfoy as a toad, no." Ron replied, shaking his head.

"That was uncalled for, Weasley. And beside, I know I look handsome." Y/N clenched his chest, faking a pained reaction before grinning proudly of his looks.

Ron couldn't reply, Y/N was handsome and for his age. Though he would never admit that to him.

"Boys." The girl groaned, rolling her eyes.

"Oh, are you doing magic? Let's see, then." She asked proudly, noticing Ron's wand.

"Sunshines, daisies, butter mellow. Turn this stupid fat rat yellow!" He casted a small spark at Scabber's making the rat squirm before shrugging at Harry.

"Are you sure that's a real spell? Well, it's not very good, is it?" She beamed, mocking Ron.

Ron raised his eyebrows, tilting his head and Y/N and Harry.

"What's up with her?" He whispered, earning only shrugs from the two.

"Of course, I've only tried a few simple ones myself... but they've all worked for me." She puffed out her chest, not hearing Ron's whisper.

She pulled out her wand, striding into the compartment and taking a seat next to Y/N.

"For example." She said, pointing her wand right between Harry's eyes.

"Oculus Reparo."

Harry's glasses which had been previously taped together was now repaired, making Ron and Harry stare in shock as he took off his glasses.

"Holy cricket! You're Harry Potter!" She gasped.

"I'm Hermione Granger. And you two are?" She turned towards Ron.

Y/N thought for a minute, trying to recall what family 'Granger' was.

"Ron. Ron Weasley." Ron said through mouthfuls of chocolate.

"Pleasure..." She said with disgust.

"And you?"

"Y/N. Y/N Malfoy." Y/N said proudly, much to her dismay.

"Oh, I've read about your family..." She said, also with disgust.

"Anyways, you three better change into robes. I expect we'll be arriving soon."

She got up to leave, only turning back and facing Ron once more.

"You've got dirt on your nose, by the way. Did you know? Just there." She said causing Ron to wipe at his nose franticly, making Y/N chuckle.

She turned to leave once more. Y/N sat there for a few seconds before getting up, not saying a word to the other boys.

"Hey!" Y/N called out, gaining her attention.

She turned around to see the boy panting slightly.

"Are you perhaps from some hidden magical family?" Y/N questioned, walking up to face her.

"Hidden family? My parents are normal, they have no magic." She explained, raising at eyebrow at Y/N.

Y/N took a look at her once more. She looked boring, just a normal girl, nothing special.

"So you're a muggle-born?" Y/N questioned, staring into her deep brown eyes.

She nodded, tilting her head slightly. Y/N sighed, not even saying a goodbye before turning back, heading back into his compartment. He sat there, reading his book for the rest of the train ride.

The train finally came to a stop, arriving just as the sun had set and the moon had come out.

"Right, then! First years, this way, please!" A half-giant with curly brown hair reaching his shoulders yelled through his beard, pointing a lamp towards the students.

Y/N, Ron and Harry had emerged right after changing into their robes, eying all the different scenes around them. Harry had to stand between the two other boys to prevent them from bothering each other all night long.

"Right, then. This way to the boats! Come on, now, follow me!"

They all did so, riding the boats which allowed 4 students per boat to ride. The students watched with amusement as they neared the giant castle, riding through the boats in the water with sparkling eyes as if a child in a toy store.

"Wicked..." Y/N and Ron whispered together, causing them to look at each other then looking away with a huff.

---------------------------------------------------------------

"Welcome to Hogwarts." A lady with a wizard hat and a long green dress welcomed them as they walked up steps.

"Now, in a few moments, you'll pass through these doors and join your classmates. But before you can take your seats, you must be sorted into your houses. They are Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin."

Y/N smirked when he heard the last house's name, ready to follow in his mother and father's footsteps.

"Now, while you're here, your house will be like your family. Your triumphs will earn you points. Any rule-breaking, and you will lose points." She started once more.

"At the end of the year, the house with the most points is awarded the house cup."

"Trevor!" A boy yelled, leaping through the students to pick up his frog, making the other students giggle.

"The Sorting Ceremony will begin momentarily." The professor finished before walking away.

"Y/N! I've been looking all over for you!" Y/N heard his brother's voice behind him, he instantly turned to see him, already settled with his own friends.

Draco gasped at the boy Y/N was standing next to.

"It's true then! What they're saying on the train." Draco instantly turned his attention to Harry.

"Harry Potter has come to Hogwarts."

The room was filled with whispers of other students, gossiping about Harry.

"This is Crabbe, and Goyle. And I'm Malfoy, Y/N's older twin brother, Draco Malfoy." Draco introduced, walking on top of stairs in front of Harry, making Ron giggle at his name.

"Hey, I think his name is wicked." Y/N defended his brother, standing next to him.

"Thank you, Y/N. Think my name's funny, do you? I've no need ask for yours." Draco spat.

"Red hair and a hand-me-down robe? You must be a Weasley."

Ron's grin turned into a frown, his eyes dropping to the floor.

"We'll soon find out that some wizarding families are better than others, Potter." Draco turned his attention back to Harry.

"You don't want to go making friends with the wrong sort. Glad you've gotten along with Y/N. I can help you too."

"I think I can tell the wrong sort for myself, thanks." Harry spat back, choosing not to shake Draco's hand causing Y/N to stifle a laugh at his brother.

"Y/N." Draco glared at his brother, making him instantly have a straight face.

"We're ready for you now. Follow me." The professor came back.

The students followed her through a hall, filled with students sitting in their seats.

"It's not real, the ceiling. It's just bewitched to look like the night sky." Y/N heard Hermione say from behind him.

"I read about it in Hogwarts: A History."

She's read Y/N's favourite book, this made Y/N slightly interested in her, though still choosing to ignore her due to her being a Muggle-born.

"Alright, will you wait along here, please?" The professor, now known as Professor McGonagall told them, making them scatter around the front of the room.

"Now, before we begin... Professor Dumbledore would like to say a few words."

"I have a few start-of-term notices I wish to announce." The old wizard known as Dumbledore said.

"The first years, please note... that the Dark Forest is strictly forbidden to all students. Also, our caretaker, Mr. Filch, has asked me to remind you... that the third-floor corridor on the right hand side is out of bounds to everyone who does not wish to die a most painful death. Thank you."

"When I call your name, you will come forth." Professor McGonagall started.

"I shall place the Sorting Hat on your head... and you will be sorted into your houses. Hermione Granger."

Y/N watched as she told herself to relax, trying to calm herself.

"Mental, that one, I'm telling you." Ron whispered to Y/N and Harry.

"Gonna have to agree with you on that one, Weasley." Y/N whispered back, this was the only thing that the two could agree on.

Y/N watched as the hat started to speak.

"Hmm... Right them... Hmm... Right... Okay. Gryffindor!" The sorting hat yelled, making the Gryffindor table applaud as they welcomed her to the house.

"Draco Malfoy." McGonagall called out.

Draco walked over slowly before sitting on the chair, the hat hadn't even touched his head before the hat yelled out Slytherin.

"There isn't a witch or a wizard who went bad who wasn't in Slytherin." Ron whispered.

"They're not all bad." Y/N said, making Harry confused on who to believe.

"Y/N Malfoy." McGonagall called out, making Y/N confidently stride up.

"Ah... Another Malfoy." The Sorting hat said.

"Hmm... best be Slythe- No... Ravenclaw."

"Please, put me in Slytherin." Y/N thought, pleading not to disappoint his father.

"Are you sure? You'd do well in Ravenclaw, no Gryffindor. Hmmm.." The hat thought for a while, sitting on Y/N's head for what seemed to be 5 minutes.

"Put me in Slytherin." Y/N commanded in his head, making the hat shocked.

"Ah... I see. Best be in... Slytherin!" The hat finally sorted, making Y/N smile, staring at his brother as he made his way to the cheering table.

Draco greeted his brother with a hug as Y/N walked to the table, being pat on the back by the older Slytherin students.

Y/N was lost in thought, staring at the Slytherin's around him. He watched as Ron got sorted into Gryffindor and getting bored when Harry took almost as long as him when getting sorted before finally getting sorted into Gryffindor. Y/N sighed, he had wished Harry would be put into the same house as him but that won't stop him from aiming to be good friends with the boy who lived.

"You attention, please." Professor McGonagall said, tapping a teaspoon onto a glass cup after everyone had been sorted and comfy in their houses.

"Let the feast begin." Dumbledore said, causing food to magically appear on the tables.

"Wicked..." Y/N and Draco said in sync as they dug into their food.
