Chapter 22: That I Like Kissing You
(Un-edited)
Jimin, fully clothed for a new day tries to leave the room he slept alone in for a second night. Ever since yesterday, he had left the dorm to be buried in work at the building and didn't come back soon to face the team that would either tease him, question him, or have him re-live the horror of what was caught. Through this paranoia, he didn't get the chance to meet you again either since that morning, putting the pieces together and realizing you were probably just as embarrassed to be seeing him so soon and quick.
Did him avoiding the situation make him forget about it? Of course not. Jimin remembered it vividly and the fact that he didn't get to release and fully commit to the moment being shared irked him inside but he never let himself think about that tiny part of his brain that wanted to grab you and finish what was started. Instead, he relished in that part of his brain that was more dominate. The cuter, more embarrassed, and taboo Jimin that was afraid to face reality.
So yes, a new day, fully clothed in jeans and a button-down, Jimin got into his jacket. He woke up so early that it was darker than dark out. He ordered for a car to pick him up and waited for it to be parked out before he snuck out of the house. Tying his laces and getting up from his bed, Jimin was ready to conquer the day. With soft breaths, he closed his eyes, said a few motivational things in his mind and then slowly creeped the door open so it wouldn't squeak or make noise. Eyes squinted, he moved his feet out to step forward but stopped when he almost stepped on feet that were already outside his bedroom door.
His breath hitched when he bumped dangerously close to you. You cutely moved back as well, immediately apologizing for scaring the man that held his chest with his hand. His eyes were awkward when meeting you, but he managed to let out, "What are you doing here?"
You smiled nervously, hugging your chest together. Jimin looked down at you and his brows jumped when noticing you were still in nothing but your bra and pants. His lips parted, "Wh-Wha-" you waved him off, awkwardly crossing your hands at your chest before going, "You were scared and took mine along with yours, it's not like anyone could see me so I just chilled without a shirt while clearing my head from yesterday's events."
Jimin swallowed hard. "Y-Yeah, how's that going for you?"
You pursed your lips. Blinking down to the ground and then back up at Jimin, you awkwardly tried to make it known that you wanted to be invited in. Jimin took a while to process that, he simply asked you the question again and you were getting red as you answered, "Not so great, I was wondering if we could talk about what happened?"
"Talk about what happened?" Jimin asked, his voice high.
You could see how uncomfortable he was and that only made you get adorably awkward yourself. "Y-Yes, I'd like to talk about what we di-" You stopped when Jimin chuckled nervous. He was trying so hard not to choke on his laugh as he moved to slip away from you.
You apologized cutely and moved to the side to allow him to leave only to accidentally block his way. Hiccupping a breath when he stepped onto your feet, both of you danced from side-to-side as you awkwardly couldn't leave the face of each other.
"Okay, I'm going to stay frozen," you giggled in discomfort.
Jimin giggled back, his throat clenching up as he slid his way around you slowly. You turned around and faced him as he was successful in the hallway. "Maybe when you get back?" you moved your hair behind you air, hugging your chest tighter, "Can we please talk?"
Jimin nodded. He nodded so hard it was a surprise his neck didn't snap. "Sure, Sure, we can do that. W-When I get back."
"I'll be on your bed waiting," you blurted only to have him grow shocked. You panicked, "Just to talk, like how we always do? N-Nothing other than that I promise, I-"
Jimin nodded. Nodded, Nodded. He was a bobble-head.
You looked at the empty and dark hallway. "You were just go-"
"Right!" Jimin said a little too loudly as he looked to the dark hallway, "I was just going.... over there...over to the...exit." He turned his body slowly and started to walk away.
"Bye," you said softly and Jimin turned around, his back bumping into the wall as he waved. He almost tripped himself before standing straight and looking back forward with wide eyes. His cheeks were a two cherry tomatoes that were paired, his heart a beating mess as he tried to calm himself while walking away.
"Focus Jimin, focus," he whispered to himself.
-
"I can't focus," you whined to yourself.
Having stole one of Jimin's shirts from his closet, it was interesting to see how now you probably looked like a floating shirt to the outside world. At least this way it gave Yoongi a better sense to where you were at all times – not that you dared going near the man that was afraid beyond belief. It had surprised you that Yoongi was the one most affected while people like Jin and Hoseok were cool around you.
Your trail of thoughts broke when looking at all the books by the side of Jimin's wall. Wasted money and library return counts on many of the books, nothing had come out of any of them and you truly started to think of it being a waste. There is nothing on the 'holding cell' in any of them, nor are there clues in having Thing join with you for Jimin's win.
Sighing, you defeatedly looked up at the ceiling.
You listened to the way you were breathing, you watched the way the ceiling of his room stayed consistent and the same colour in your eyes that switched around visionary lenses. You imagined opjects and pictures on the wall as if you were watching a movie your mind was playing. You pictured Jimin winning, you pictured you alive again, you pictured your family and friends happy, then you pictured kissing Jimin in real life, starting a life with him and gushing over how it was obvious you liked the boy more than just an idol you used to admire when you were alive.
You blinked away from the ceiling, your chest heaving. The fact that your feelings may be more than just liking the boy was what scared you the most. This emotion was hopeful, but it was also something terribly holding you back. You didn't want to screw up during any of this process and possibly lose the boy forever.
"How to get back?" you whispered gently, courageously looking back at the ceiling to pain another picture.
This time, you painted an event that happened. Although you weren't there to see it take place, Jimin had told you all about it for one night where you watched him sleep. It was the day Jimin interrupted Thing from its win, it was the day Jimin saw and talked to Thing. Yes, you knew about it, and yes, Jimin told you everything that was discussed and possibly revealed.
Pictures and images moved around the ceiling and your eyes squinted as everything you could remember about that information, you played in your mind. You thought closely to one event, one conversation. You stopped. You focused.
Thing had told Jimin for him to win, there was an equation. Thing had to be apart of it in order to have you alive...Thing had to be one with you, Thing had to be saved.
Being the darkest part of humanity, being the negative side, being the hurt. Thing had to be saved.
You nibbled at your bottom lip. You had an assumption for possible leverage, but you felt silly to even think of it. Glancing at the paranormal books in the corner, you phased away from the room and were fast. Suddenly, you were back on Jimin's bed with a whole new set of books. Yes, you just stole them but a ghost doesn't have to pay for things, come on now...
You sat onto the bed again. Spreading the books out, you got your notebook ready.
You sat with introduction books to psychology, mental health and disorder textbooks, and ordinary 'off-the-counter' self-help books. You did a surprising 180-degree and focused on a singular thing that was most important in the 'holding cell', something you knew nothing about. And that specific most important part was Thing.
You were awkward at first, but your interests struck you fast as you instantly started to run the pen on the notepad that never had presentable information before. You were fast, you were efficient.
You got everything you thought to be needed.
-
You got everything you knew you needed. That was visible by the way you smiled at Jimin with contentment as he walked into his room quietly.
He was still avoiding the other members and they seemed to be awkwardly giving him space as well. Yoongi, well, no one had seen where that man ran off to since yesterday...
"What's with the smile?" Jimin tiredly asked, almost forgetting about everything that had happened when facing the reality of how harshly he had overworked himself today in practice. It as dark again, nightfall had hit, and he skipped his final meal just, so he could freshen up and sleep.
But first, over here and in front of you, he was curious to what you were going to say as you crawled to the foot of his bed and sat with your filled notebook and pen. Jimin wiggled out of his jacket and tossed it bedside you on the bed.
You shivered when the air of the jacket hit the bed and the scent of him suddenly all around you. Flushing, you ignored your inner desires as you focused on what was important to be discussed over first.
"So I've been reading-"
"I can see that," he said with a laugh, seeing how clustered his bed was. He crossed his arms over his chest and stood, eyes narrowed, waiting for you to hit him with facts. "What did you possibly find in a day that I couldn't find the past week from the books we got?"
You twirled your pen in the air, cutely letting out a smug tick of the end before smiling, "That's the thing, I got new books."
You pointed over to the bed. "I thought about what we were focusing on and found it to be a little too broad and impossible. I don't know, I guess I assumed we should be focusing on the hints Thing gave you itself.... you know? The whole saving it too since it's a part of me?"
Jimin nodded slowly, looking at the faces of the books on his bed. His expression softened for a moment as he came to conclusion over what you had been researching and collecting for your own knowledge. He understood. "In order to win against Thing we've got to understand its form..."
"I've got all the notes I could understand, and you can read it when you have time," You said softly, placing the notebook and pen to your side on top of his jacket. "The notes are from the textbooks as they're more theory based. As an anchor I thought it would be better for you to read self-help books and get an understanding of how possibly you're going to 'save' Thing...whatever that means."
"Have you read them as well?" Jimin asked, in deep thought as he moved towards the bed and outstretched over to grab the book that sat behind you. You stared at him close to you and cleared your throat, not letting the distance effect you as much as you stayed focused.
Focused focused focused. You nodded, "And I feel that my first step in helping is to go back to the hospital alone and face what I've always been burying within myself. The doubts, the fears...but I've got to do that alone."
Jimin saw the look in your eyes. He nodded slowly but seemed hesitant. "I think we've come a long way in understanding that my role as an anchor isn't to control you but to just guide you in the right direction." He smiled, it was sweet as he read the back of the book you had brought. There was hope in his eyes. "There's a beauty in being there for someone but having them heal on their own and at their own pace."
You smiled sweetly at Jimin thinking to himself.
"...the last I want would be to take over your life." Jimin side-glanced your way, he swallowed hard when you softly met his gaze that was trying to be low-key while staring at you.
Your smile fell a little, but your eyes were still sweet. "I'd be my own hero," you whispered, repeating what he had sweetly said to you yesterday before the world both of you found to be true flipped upside down.
Jimin nodded, sighing and staring away from you as he lamely put the book down back with the notes. He straightened up and stepped back a few steps when seeing how softly you admired the lack in distance that was previously accepted.
Jimin smiled nervous. Your voice was soft when you asked, "Can we also talk about what happened on the couch?"
Jimin's hands went to his pockets as he shrugged and eyes everywhere in the room but you. "I don't see what there is to talk about," he said lightly, "We did things that shouldn't have happened."
You blinked, mouth opening and closing. There was no want for smiling as your shoulders sulked down a little at hearing that. "I guess not," you said softly and Jimin side-glanced your way again, seeing you staring down at the ground.
He licked his bottom lip, voice softer than ever as he clarified what he was supposed to fully say. "We did things that should've have happened out in the open," he added, shyly watching as you looked at him again, "We could've moved...into the room, I-" His nose scrunched, his cheeks were back to being red. Like always when around you lately.
Your brows jumped. Your heart raced. "Oh."
"Y-Yeah, I mean it's put us in quite a dilemma and I can barely look at you without thinking about everything that happened, but I don't think of it as a mistake to take back...the only thing that was a mistake about spending that time with you was where it all happened..." Jimin was awkward and cute.
You wanted to smile but you didn't want to smile large and creep him out. So, your face didn't move, and you blankly stared at him as he rambled on.
"What I can admit to is having to think a lot since we..." He cleared his throat, "We did what we did." You couldn't help it, him being taboo was making you want to laugh and smile. You bit your lip, small grin in place. "I've seen the difference in me when around you lately and I can't help but feel confused over how I feel about you. Or, you know, what I feel about you."
You pursed your lips, wetting them slowly with your tongue when seeing the boy slowly move towards you. He awkwardly leaned down, standing while you sat at the foot of the bed. His nose brushed yours hesitantly, and you didn't move, lips parted and eyes shutting so he could kiss you at his own pace and when he wanted. When he did, you kissed him back, gentle and sweet before moving your hand up to his cheek.
His lips were close to yours as he spoke, his eyes still shut while yours fluttered open. "Before we talk about that, since I know you love talking so much-" you puckered your lips, trying not to laugh. He took that as a way to peck your lips gently again before continuing, "Let's just have you back and alive and hopefully I'll have myself figured out by then."
He stared at your lips.
You watched him.
"Any hints so I can at least sense you being genuine?"
"I don't know," he said nervously.
You smiled, nose nuzzling his as your hand dipped to slowly grab his collar. "What do you know?"
Jimin stared at your lip, eyes, lips and eyes. Then he stayed at your lips with a softened and loving gaze.
You did him a favour from leaning in hesitantly as you kissed him sweetly again. He smiled when you pulled away.
"What do you know Park Jimin?" you asked in repeat, eyes teasing.
Jimin sighed, "That I like...that I like kissing you and frankly don't care if anyone sees us at this point."
