Chapter 19: Evolution of Jealousy
Jimin had never really felt this feeling before. The constant feeling of irritation, anger, and sometimes tired sadness just because of some ghost...because of you.
Monday:
It had been two days since the boys found out about you. A start of a new week most would stay. With the rise of the sun, the week opened to a fresh new start. Hoseok and Jin asked Jimin to talk to you.
Jin was uncomfortable as he pulled his hand out. When you touched him and he felt it, he laughed so loud and shook from the sudden horror.
"You try it!" Jin told Hoseok. Hoseok chuckled nervously. He bowed, saying how he would 'respect you from a distance' and then ran away down the hall.
You giggled and laughed a lot when seeing him run away. You didn't notice Jimin smiling when you joyfully lit-up. He watched you quite often and you thought of it just to be his protectiveness. Nothing more right?
As Hoseok turned the corner, your giggling form slowly stopped when a new body came down the hall. It was Taehyung and you were smiling in his direction when he came to stand next to Jin in amusement.
Jimin's lips suddenly couldn't curve, as if he forgot how to smile. He just eyed the member that couldn't even see or hear you, very very carefully.
"Aye, what we got here?" He piped, seeing the excitement in Jin's eyes.
"I can't see her either but I can feel her! You were right, it does feel cool," Jin laughed out before sticking his hand out again. You touched it and giggled when he jumped again. Jin's glasses almost fell off his face.
Taehyung was sweet and excited. He struck his hand out, charming smile and eyes staring forward and you could've sworn he made it feel like you were human and he could see you. That is what you appreciated. Taehyung didn't make you feel dead...
You were about to touch him only to gasp a little when Jimin laughed too loud and clasped his hand on yours. You were confused when you were suddenly dragged into the room for the night.
Taehyung was left hanging.
"What was that about?" You asked, laughing and not understanding why he slapped your hand.
"You've got to stop being inappropriate."
Your brow arched. "How is shaking someone's hand inappropriate?"
Jimin didn't say anything. He went to the bathroom and told you to sit down and lay. You refused at first, not understanding what had gotten in to him. But then he took hold of your waist and picked you up for a moment. You squeaked, shocked and hair sprawling when he tossed you to the bed. "Jimin!" You yelled shocked.
The fact that he just turned around and went to the bathroom with a sigh, his tense back under his shirt was all you saw as he slammed the door shut.
Tuesday:
Namjoon was awkward. Most the boys had gone and he was left behind to rest because of a sore throat.
He knocked on the door and you looked away from the books you held; still trying to find any leads you can in getting back successfully. You looked up and saw Namjoon peeking his head in.
His skin was pale and it wasn't because he was sick. He stepped in and was shocked over seeing floating books. It took him a while to talk.
"H-Hi," he laughed awkward. "I thought it was going to be hard to spot where you were but—"
You shook the book, showing him that you heard and saw him since he couldn't do hear or see you.
Namjoon's blood fell from his face further. He looked terrified. But there was a sense within him that felt a guilt, so he spoke slow.
"I just wanted to say sorry for being a little harsh that day. I was scared over how Jungkook was treated...I've done a lot of thinking and am willing to try and understand you now." Namjoon pursed his lips once he finished.
You smiled so wide.
Namjoon looked at the book that was floating. He waited for some sort of sign. You shook the book.
"Hyung? You alright?" A person was in the dorm.
You recognized the voice and so did Namjoon as he smiled and answered back. "Just in Jimin's room!" He called out, "Took your advice and have come to face her..." Namjoon looked back at the air, "well sorta."
You laughed. Standing up, you walked with the book so Namjoon would know where you were and wouldn't panic. You slowly neared him as the second voice walked into the hall and towards the bedroom.
Taehyung peeked his head in, smiling wide when seeing the floating book. He stood beside Namjoon who attended to his phone that rang.
"Open and close the book if you accept my apology." You opened and closed it. Namjoon smiles huge before putting the phone to his ear.
"Dying Namjoon speaking," he popped out, coughing a little. He really was sick.
"Ah, hello Jimin, How is recording going?"
Taehyung looked at the book. Again, his eyes looked and assumed where your eyes were. He made it seem as if you were alive as he talked to you. "What you reading?"
You opened the book and had him read the first page by moving over to him instead of the other way around. You didn't want to awkwardly bump into him so you kept distance. His head was close to your shoulder and ear as he read behind you.
He laughed. "Paranormal books? That's typical...is it even helping?"
You didn't know how to answer to him. He laughed again and went, "tap my arm twice for no, once for yes." You smiled, tapping his arm twice with your finger.
"Could you get me soup when you eat home with the others? I'd—" Jimin shushed the rambling man. Namjoon was confused. He tried to speak again but Jimin shushed him a second time.
"If you didn't want to listen to me why did you call?"
"I'm eavesdropping. Is that laughter Taehyung?" Jimin's voice sounded like Batman brooding while trying to solve a crime.
Namjoon's eyes narrowed. He glanced at Taehyung laughing and the book flipping pages slowly. You were pointing out hilarious passages in the book that had been making you laugh earlier.
"He's with Y/N."
Jimin was dramatic. His voice above a whisper. "That is what I suspected."
"Why are you talking like that?" Namjoon asked with a smile.
"I must to remain calm and not panic."
Namjoon snorted. "Jimin if you don't stop and just get me my soup."
"Soup will be arriving shortly," Jimin breathily demanded. "I will make sure of it."
"Dude," Namjoon scoffed out, trying not to laugh at Jimin's weird behaviour. "Finish the recording first and then come here with soup."
"I have exited the building."
"Jimin!"
"Will arrive fast and efficiently, thanks for the report."
"Report?" Namjoon asked, confused. "Jimin you're making no sens—"
The phone cut.
Wednesday:
Jimin was napping on the couch for a minute as you played and laughed around with Jin, Hoseok, and Namjoon in the kitchen. You made things float and put on a show for them as you made Namjoon home-made soup. They would be sweet and applause at points. You were having a blast.
Jimin was in deep sleep. He was knocked out heavy. You didn't bother him and he surprisingly didn't mention you as the tiredness caught up to him.
Taehyung walked in from his sleep in his room. He smiled at everyone laughing and having a good time with you. Leaning on the counter by Jin, he watched you play around by making objects float more.
"What do we have here?" He asked teasing.
Jimin's eyes opened the fuck up. He was frozen but his eyes were wide. It was as if he was resurrected from the dead and ready to avenge his own death dramatically.
Jimin's head snapped over slowly. Like a scary doll that got angry but had trouble moving muscles because it was made of wood.
Thursday:
"You can leave," you giggled, pushing Jimin towards the door when Taehyung and Jungkook were at the bedroom door.
Jimin was on your tail any minute you were with the boys. At first it was funny and confusing, but now it was slightly irritating since Jungkook was trying to be civil and get to know you but the more Jimin was around policing the conversation instead of being a part of it...the more Jungkook was weirded out and thought he was there because you weren't stable.
"Tell him I'm not scary or going to jump the rails," you scolded, not understanding Jimin's behaviour this past week, "Or actually talk naturally in the conversation instead of being a creep on the sidelines. Please just tell them my words clearly and not so dry."
Jimin smiled as he made eye contact with you. "Sure, of course!"
You sighed, smiling before nodding and facing Jungkook and Taehyung again. As soon as you looked away, Jimin was serious again.
Smile gone and Batman-mode activated.
Friday:
The only member left to get on good terms with was Yoongi but he was staying over at the managers house. They didn't question it and he didn't explain other than talking about the 'traumatic experience he endured that rocked his world'.
He stayed away and you could easily go and visit through phasing but you decided not to force him to like you unless he was comfortable. It sucked though. He used to be your bias when alive and yet, he was the one that wanted nothing to do with you.
You lay. It was a bored day. On Jimin's bed and watching him change out of his clothing, you read the new books he had brought.
"I don't think this book idea is helping at all. If I read one more thing on witches or trolls I'm going to lose it." You giggled but there was a frustrated ring to it.
Jimin smiled lightly at you laugh while moving to the foot of the bed with your knees. You cooed when he got out of his shirt and flirted with your eyes, he rolled his eyes but felt his cheeks grow a little hot.
"Even Taehyung was laughing when I showed him."
Jimin's smile fell a little. Just a little.
Moving to stand on the bed, this allowed you to hug his shoulders from behind. You rested your cheek onto his shoulder and Jimin was comfortable enough to let you. He rubbed your forearm lightly before picking out a light top to loosely wear for bed.
Your lips puckered weirdly, your cheek caving in as it massages into his toned muscles. "You can always sleep shirtless you know? Gives me something to look at since I can't sleep."
Jimin chuckled. "I don't wanna be treated like some piece of meat, thank you very much."
You gasped playful. "When have I ever?"
He rubbed your arm again before tapping it so he could wear a shirt. You pulled away for a moment, biting down your lip in amusement and watching his back muscles swift from movement as he got cozy in his oversized tee.
Jimin turned around and put his hands out dramatically. "How do I look?" You smiled cute, "Cuddly!" You jumped to grab him but pouted when he moved back.
"No more touching me, I've moisturized my skin tonight," Jimin patted his cheeks, rolling into his bed under the covers. Making himself comfortable with a sigh, the room was dark as he shut the lamp by his bedside.
"I can't cuddle?" You asked, confused. "But I'm a ghost, it shouldn't affect your skin."
"You're starting to gain temperature in and out at random moments," Jimin reminded. "I ain't about having me sweat when I feel all glossy smooth." He wiggled under the covers like a worm before smirking large and shutting his eyes.
Jimin looked like a wrapped burrito. How could I not be tempted to cuddle that?
"Fine," you mumbled, standing to your feet. "I'll go cuddle with someone else."
Jimin's eyes opened wide. He sat up on he bed and chuckled nervously before patting the side of the bed next to him so fast. "N-No need, here come."
Your eyes narrowed at that. Similar behaviours that were arbitrary started to become consistent with him when speaking about the members. You didn't quite understand why Jimin was acting the way he was, but you couldn't help but voice out your hunch.
"You alright?"
"Of course, why wouldn't I be alright?"
"I don't know, you've just been jumpy and weird lately, not to mention the time where you tossed me on the bed? We still need to talk about that little spazzing..." You were pointing out flaws in the week like a mother nagging about a room being cleaned. Your hip was out, attitude was great, and your fingers were out as you listed every fucked up thing Jimin did without control this week.
Jimin swallowed hard. He faked cluelessness hard as he smiled. "What you talking about? I've been totally normal."
Your eyes were narrowed. "Right."
Jimin nudged his head. "Come, come, come cuddle."
"I'll go cuddle with Jungkook or Taehyung instea—" you watched the boy visibly wince and your eyes widened in shock. It hit you. Your theories flourished.
"You aren't jealous of the others right? You started to act weird the minute they found out and started to give me a shot."
Jimin blinked. "Why would I do that? Of course I'd be happy for you. If it were to bother me I wouldn't have introduced you to them on purpose."
You felt a little idiotic but for some reason his explanation didn't sit completely well with you. It was a strong point...just not strong enough.
"Then explain the weirdness."
Jimin shrugged. "Maybe I'm just scarred about everything that happened with Thing...I might just be trying to heal from that trauma."
He succeeded in distracting you. You were done questioning him and instead suddenly felt guilt. Jimin smiled, tugging you over to him and telling you not to worry or overthink. You laid down with him and he cuddled you even though his body still dried from the lotion.
"Don't overthink. Just hold my hand the entire night and don't let go. The more you're around me the better chances Thing will not be back for a while."
You looked at his eyes, his flushed cheeks and his lips. You slowly found yourself to smile again when seeing the genuine care in his voice. You nodded your head. "Okay."
Jimin grinned. "Good," he snuggled his cheek on the top of your hair. "Now sleep you beauty."
Saturday:
Jimin's eyes were fixed on the boys all playing around with you again. He heard you giggle, saw you run around, but they didn't and they were still so amused with great smile on their faces.
Namjoon was already starting to feel better, the others closer closer and closer with you every day. Taehyung got a little too touchy-feely and Jimin noticed.
Oh. Boy. Did. He. Notice.
Jimin's jaw hurt from clenching so much, it ached and felt tensely tight.
Jimin moved his sandwich to his mouth. He ate it with small nibbles that were cute, but his eyes were scary. It was an awkward sight.
Sunday:
In the hallway.
Jimin walked out of his room after a nights shower and Taehyung's hair was ruffling around because of your hand cutely teasing his locks.
Jimin's anger was sad this day.
He didn't know why Sunday was different.
He didn't know why this day his emotions and body acted different.
Jimin went back into his room, pretending he hadn't come out to see you playful with another who could now feel you.
Sitting onto his bed, he puckered his lips bored and alone. He stared at the walls of his room—again, bored and alone.
Monday, a full week. Another fresh new day...
It was a nightmare.
Jimin wasn't sad this time. He instead, was getting more irritated over him being upset and not knowing why he felt such a way. Confused and on edge, you managed to have yourself in an innocent situation that he found bewildering.
He snapped.
It was in the hallway again but this time, this time, Taehyung's eyes held something that made Jimin jump to conclusions. He looked as if he saw you even though Jimin knew it was impossible; the fact that his charms worked on your blushing didn't help the situation.
Then the cuteness from yesterday was taken a step further today. Jimin watched the nearing of Taehyung's curious head. The boy was leaning in without knowing it and Jimin screamed with his mouth closed. It was a pathetic yet scary cry as he ran into his room again and slammed the door shut.
Taehyung and you both looked over at the door. Confused and not realizing what was happening at the moment, Taehyung seemed to not notice either. It was all innocent. The boy wasn't trying to kiss you and lean in, frankly, he didn't know how close you were since he couldn't see you—an obvious honest mistake.
You tapped Taehyung's arm three times for a code "goodnight" and he smiled brightly before opening his arms. You hugged him quick, Jimin and his distressed dramatic scream in your mind as you separated and drifted over to his room in a flash.
As soon as you got in, your breath hitched when your body almost bumped to his. He was close to the door, as if he expected for you to be entering. Jimin glared at you hard and you smiled confused, brows furrowing.
"What's up?" You cooed, trying to be casual.
Jimin didn't know why his head wanted to explode. He couldn't find words for his emotions right now. "What's up? Seriously? You don't see what was wrong there?"
You didn't get it. "What're you talking about? Since when is talking to Taehyung a bad thing??"
"You call that talking?"
"Yes, well when one moves their mouth and using their tongues to form sounds it's—"
"Y/N you're working my last nerve."
Your brows jumped. "In what way? I've been fantastic since I've been back, it's been great. Why are you so mad?"
Jimin's face scrunched in frustration and confusion. "I-I," he shot out the first thing that could possibly explain his ambush, "I told you to not be inappropriate with anyone!" His yell was soft.
"I haven't though," you mumbled, not comprehending him one bit.
"You don't call almost kissing Taehyung in the hallway inappropriate?" He snapped, he snapped harsh.
Your confusion was slowly growing into annoyance. "In what world was I kissing Taehyung?! Yes I was a little blush and flirty but I've been that way with everyone and you haven't seemed to show interest until now?"
"With Taehyun—"
"How," you snapped, "How is he different? What's so earth-shattering with me wanting to befriend a guy I used to be a fan of when alive? You're telling me if Beyoncé was right here you wouldn't be flustered?"
Jimin's anger vanished at that. Your point was stronger than ever and he felt like an instant idiot. He forgot about you being a fan, his mind wrapping you into something more...a part in his life he couldn't quite label just yet.
"I-I—"
"First you were agressive and controlling the beginning of the week and NA-AH SIR THAT SHIT DON'T PLAY. I let the bed shit slide because it was low-key hot but I was still so furious!" You we're losing it. Your hands were up by your head. They shook and you whisper-yelled, "GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER MAN. Either talk to me or leave me be. Don't play around and act mad. Have a genuine conversation with me so we can work it out."
Jimin felt bad. He wanted to nervously smile and make a joke out of all of it but judging by how angry you were, that wasn't going to cut it this time.
"Just talk to me when you problem, we'll work it out that way! That's what healthy relationships do and I want us to survive even though I'm practically a ghost."
Jimin swallowed hard, "R-Relationship?"
You looked at him with a scoff. "Yes, relationship you idiot. A bond the anyone can share, not just romantic couples so get your head out of Grade2-type-thinking, you child!"
Jimin's lips parted at you getting angry. It was more than before and he suddenly worried you'd go rogue on his ass out of no where again. "O-Okay let us just calm down, I'm sorry for snapping I—"
"I don't want your apologies! I want explanations to your behaviour and conversations!" You screeched, looking at the boy in disbelief of him trying to put all this under the rug.
Jimin was nervous. "What...what exactly do you want me to say?"
You were a clapping hyena at that. Clapping and angry sass back, Jimin jumped a little when you clapped too loud. "Boy," you breathed out, pinching the top of your nose. "Please don't test me and make me Hulk out."
"You wanted a conversation, so speak on what you're holding back from," Jimin challenged. He regretted it almost instantly when you looked at him straight in the soul.
"You want me to say what I'm thinking?"
Jimin nodded, innocent and child-like. He was slightly scared however. Deep down, he had an assumption towards what was heading his way.
"Fine!"
He swallowed hard.
"I think," you laughed bitterly, "Fuck, at this point it's no longer about thinking. I know."
"Know what?" Jimin knew where this was going. He knew he knew he knew and now he was starting to sweat.
"You've been trying so hard to deny it and make me believe I've been going insane for questioning you but I was right about it the first time! How obvious can you be!" You yelled, voice a pained whisper in defeat.
Jimin twitched awkward from one foot to the other. "Obvious about what?"
"YOU ARE JEALOUS! JUST ADMIT IT AND LET'S JUST TALK ABOUT IT, INSTEAD OF BEING A CONFUSED CHILD WHO CAN'T STAY IN TUNE WITH FEELINGS!"
You had no chill.
Jimin looked more deceased than you...that said a lot on its own.
