Lowest
I was at my lowest when you came
Along, with your dagger to cut me loose
From the rock that tied me,
Held me, dragged me and was
Slowly drowning me,
Down into the depths of darkness, an
Abyss of black spirals that silenced my screams
Which you then made heard;
Pumping the blood back
Through my veins and
My heart fluttered once more as
I lay gasping, coughing up the salt that burned
My throat. My lungs. My mind. My voice.
You helped me to breathe and find my voice.
You saved me.
But then you left and
Now, at least I know
What is lower than the salt sea bed.
