Flickering Moonlight
The view was ordinary to begin with,
With olive trees and spindly leaves
Until you brought it meaning.
After you left, it was ordinary again.
The moon came
Smiling at the view,
Her golden luminescence breathing
Light back to the view.
You left me in the dark
To figure things out for
Myself.
On my own.
Isolated as the moon on her lonely throne,
Rising steadily in the black sky
Threatening to drown out her light,
I'll rise 'cause
I don't need you no more as
Much as you need me.
