Chapter 3- Y/N, The Blocker of the Sky Liquid
You stepped into the busy hallway and decided you should take a bathroom break before you eat, so you navigated yourself to the washroom.
You finished your business and were washing your hands when you heard two familiar voices outside the bathroom.
"Gaz, today will be the day I finally show people who Zim really is! I can FEEL it!"
"You don't seem to understand Dib. I DON'T CARE! Plus, you said the exact same thing yesterday!"
"But today is important! I have to convince Y/N that Zim is an alien! It's for her own good. Don't you remember what happened to Keef?"
"Keef was annoying"
"That's not the poin-
oh NEVERMIND! I just have to fill this and it's bye bye for Zim!"
You quickly wiped your wet hands on your shirt and peeked out the bathroom to see, but you were too late, and it was only an empty hallway.
What is Dib planning? You thought, a little concerned.
You exited the bathroom and instantly your stomach demanded food by making a loud rumble.
Ok, ok! I'm going! you mentally said, and you walked down to where you heard the collective chatter of children, and knew you were close.
You pushed open the cafeteria door. Inside you saw lots of students, all sitting beside who were presumably their friends. Even in a beat up school like this, there were social ranks. You could easily tell who were the outcasts and who were the populars.
You walked over to the counter and grabbed yourself a tray to collect your sludge on.
You saw the food, and it was indeed sludge, but with some peas alongside it.
You had to hold back your nausea when seeing it be plopped down on your tray. You swore you could see it moving.
Well, this is better than...nothing... I guess.
You held your tray firmly and exited the line with your 'food'. You searched the room looking for a spot, when you noticed that girl Gaz you met earlier, sitting alone at a table.
She might not mind me sitting with her. Plus, she might be able to tell me what Dib is up to. You thought as you walked across the room.
Approaching the table, Gaz did that thing again where she looked up at you with one of her eyes.
"Oh it's you again" Gaz said with just slight annoyance.
"Yep, it's me, new girl...d-do you mind if I sit here?" You motioned to the spot on the bench across from her.
"Sure, just don't bother me. Ive been trying to beat this level and DIB has been distracting me all day!"
Right, Dib! Now's my chance.
"Uh, just one thing. What exactly was Dib bothering you about?" You asked, afraid she was going to hurt you for asking.
"Uhhhgg, just some grabble about exposing Zim, AGAIN. I try my best to ignore him. It's his pre-pubescent voice that irritates me the most."
Well, that didn't answer you question, but you were still grateful she hasn't punched you in the face by now.
You look to your side and notice Zim sitting at another table. He was making barf sounds at his lunch, and pushed his tray away.
Same Zim, same. you thought agreeing with his disgusted actions.
This made you look down at your own food and decide that you liked your life, as crapy as it was, and wasn't going to let this poison end it today.
You got up, tray in hand, when suddenly,
*BAM!*
You see the door burst open, and swiftly whip your head up to see.
It was Dib. Standing in the door with a confident stance.
"ZIM!"
Dib marched over to Zim, holding what looked like a tin bucket, and stood across from him with a crazed look in his eye.
Zim just sat there smug, not expecting anything threatening to come from Dib.
"Oh hello, Dib human. What is that your holding? Is it another one of your soon to be failed attempts at 'exposing' me?"
'Dib human?' That's a strange thing to call him.
you thought, continuing to listen.
"Yes Zim! Yes it is! But this one won't fail! Not today!"
"Dib, it's a bucket" Zim said unamused.
"Yes it is a bucket, a bucket full of your weakness,
WATER!"
Dib said with an evil smile.
You watched as Zim's face went from pure confidence to complete terror in an instant.
Zim got up like a lightning bolt and ran. Dib sped behind him.
Dib chased Zim around the cafeteria. This caught the attention of the students, who found entertainment in their fighting. They circled a few times until they came to a standoff in the middle. Dib was just a few feet away, and Zim slowly stepped back to avoid him getting any closer.
"What's wrong ZIM? Afraid your 'condition' will expose the truth?!"
You saw Dib make air quotes at 'condition', that caught your attention. You knew Dib was being sarcastic, but what if Zim actually did have a skin condition? His skin didn't exactly look normal.
Zim backed up as far as he could without hitting the food counter. His other routes of escape were now blocked by ogling students surrounding them. Dib crept closer with a determined grin, and you could see a drop of sweat form on Zim's frightened face.
You weren't liking how Dib treated Zim for acting....for looking....for talki- for BEING different.
As Dib grew close, you couldn't sit there and let this happen.
You practically threw your tray of mush, and sped past the other students. The world seemed to move in slow motion, as you jumped in front of Zim right at the moment Dib tossed the water.
*SPLASH!!!*
All the students let out a huge collective gasp. Dib with his eyes shut, started laughing hysterically, Thinking he had succeeded in exposing the green boy. But to his surprise, he didn't hear sizzling, or Zim's usual screams of pain. This made Dib stop for a moment in confusion. He opened his eyes to see you completely soaked, your clothes dripping water onto the dirty tile floor, leaving little puddles.
You stood there as stiff as a beam after your body was shocked by both the water and it's cold temperature. You forced your body to calm, and you regained awareness of what just happened. You flicked your hands to get rid of any excess droplets, and turned your head around slowly to see Zim.
He was cowering behind you, so much so, that he was almost in a ball. He was shaking, but he soon realized he wasn't in pain and timidly raised his head to investigate. His eyes met yours, and he observed you, realizing your state, which made it clear to him what happened.
"Y-You alright?" You asked, a slight quake in your voice from the new change in body temperature.
Zim, both surprised and confused, just nodded slightly.
You turned back to face Dib. He had a shocked and almost regretful look on his face.
"I-I'm sorry Y/N that wasn't meant for you! I was trying to get Zim!"
"I KNOW!" You growled angrily, your eyes practically piercing through his soul.
However, your angry stare soon softened, turning into a look of slight embarrassment, once you noticed all the eyes currently on you. The only one who seemed unamused was Gaz, who was sitting at her table still squinting Intensely at her Game Slave. Other students eagerly waited to see what your next move would be.
How could this day get any worse? you thought, and well,
you thought too soon. Ms. Bitters barged in through the cafeteria's heavy steel doors, both whipping open without her even touching them. A cold breeze entering the room with her.
"What is going on in here?!" The hunched hag hissed.
But before anyone could speak, her shinny glasses turned straight to you, still a dripping mess.
"YOU! Y/N GIRL! DETENTION AFTER SCHOOL!" Ms. Bitters snarled making your eyes widen in surprise.
Detention?! You thought. My first day at this horrible school and I'm already getting detention. Not to mention,
THIS WASN'T EVEN MY FAULT!
You were too stunned to say anything to defend yourself. The other students including Dib and Zim also stayed mute. They seemed to know better than to challenge the woman. None of them should dare breathe too loud in the presence of the evil teacher, let alone try to argue with her.
"But" You managed to squeak out.
"NO BUTS, OR YOU CAN STAY IN THE UNDERGROUND CLASSROOM FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR!"
Ms. Bitc- I mean Bitters, without another word, slithered back outside, the doors slamming behind her.
You looked at Dib one last time, and turned around to see that Zim was now standing there, still with confusion and puzzlement plastered on his face. You just wanted to get out of there and disappear.
You brushed past Zim and walked through the bewildered students, who moved aside to clear a path for you. Your soaked shoes loudly squeaked with every step as you made your way out the silent cafeteria, the eyes of your peers following. The only sound being the light closing of the door as you exited.
. . .
"Laaaaammmme" some kid in the crowd said. This broke the silence, triggering everyone else to go back to their own business like nothing happened. Dib and Zim still stood in place.
"Look what you did ZIM!" Dib barked.
"Me! I wasn't the one throwing around the putrid sky liquid"
"It's called WATER!" Dib yelled frustratedly. Dib took a moment to collect himself and looked back at Zim.
"Don't worry Zim, I'll expose you to everyone, you'll see! And I'll make sure Y/N isn't there to save your butt!"
Zim put his fists on his hips smiling cockily. "idiot Dib! it was obviously my front which was the most at risk of bei-"
"FORGET IT, FORGET IT!" Dib yelled cutting Zim off, and he stormed away.
Zim stood there and turned towards the door you just exited out of, still questioning the strange experience.
This Y/N human, she's...
interesting
