Chapter 14- Anticipation
It was the next day, and it was oddly warm and sunny outside.
You sat in the classroom, looking out the window and admiring the rare event of a sunny day. You watched as the sunbeams peeked through the few warm-colored leaves that still hung on the thin, twisted branches of the trees.
As you sat and waited for class to start, you took note of your contrasting feelings, feeling both tired and full of energy at the same time.
Your fatigue came from the fact that you barely got any sleep last night. This was because your mind was far too busy thinking about Zim's true alien identity. But, the excitement of it all seemed to push it down, and energize you instead. This made you somewhat restless, and you wanted to just get through the day so you could get to know all about Zim and his species.
To occupy yourself in the meantime, you filled your mind with big, elaborate ideas, trying to guess what amazing discoveries could be in store.
What if he can spit acid, or shoot lasers from his eyes?! That would be so cool! You thought.
What if he can give me superpowers!
Oh, or, what if he has a sixth sense? Like maybe the ability to read minds.....
Okay, I kinda hope he can't read minds. I would NOT want him reading my mind considering the things I've thought about before. Yikes.
Oh, and I wonder what his leaders are like? He mentioned something about tall, so maybe they are like supergiants who are extremely powerful!
Getting more and more intrigued by the second, your mind continued on as you waited.
On the other side of the room, Zim marched in and sat in his own seat.
He looked over in your direction and
his eyes widened seeing you in the sunlight. His pulse increased, and his face grew warm. He quivered slightly.
Euuhg, why do I feel so strange all of a sudden? I hope I didn't catch some form of disgusting human disease, Zim thought to himself.
He just brushed it off and shifted his attention to Ms. Bitters as she obnoxiously cleared her throat and started her lesson.

After about three and a half hours of boredom, the lunch bell rang and the entire class let out a large sigh of relief, each student swiftly getting up and getting ready to leave the classroom. You and Zim did the same.
You got up and walked over to Zim and asked if he wanted to spend lunch outside today.
"This way Dib can't spy on us and cause any trouble." You explained in a whisper.
Zim nodded in agreement and scowled in Dib's direction before following you out the door. Dib caught sight of this and just gave a look of suspicion as he watched you two leave.
You and Zim went out of the back of the school and sat at one of the outdoor tables. The distant playful cheers of the other students ringing in your ears as they ran around the schoolyard.
"So Zim! I've been thinking ALL night about what I want to ask you! I have so many questions and-"
"Wait!" Zim yelped, pausing your sentence.
"While you have proven to be a loyal and quite trustworthy human, I still don't want to reveal all of my race's secrets. What if you decide one day to side with the Dibstink?! You could easily tell him everything and lead me to my DOOM!"
"Hmm. I mean, I guess you have a point"
You thought for a moment, trying to think of how you could convince him to trust you.
"Hey," you said, perking up. "What if I offered you a deal?"
"A deal? What kind of deal?" Zim questioned, raising a brow.
"If you teach me about your species and allow me to learn more about you, I will be your personal teacher on everything human. This way, even if I do, for whatever reason join sides with Dib, I will have given you enough information to use against me anyway."
You stretched a hand across the table and waited patiently.
"Deal?"
Zim took a second to process your offer.
".....
Deal!"
He then said with a smirk, reaching his arm across to complete the handshake. He gripped your hand and violently shook it until you managed to pull your hand free.
"Well, we know handshakes still need some work." You said laughing.
"We can begin our research after school in my base," Zim announced. "I look forward to finally learning all your human secrets."
The rest of lunch went by surprisingly smooth, not one sighting of Dib. To you, It seemed like he was starting to run out of ideas on how to capture Zim.
(Dib's POV)
"I'm running out of ideas on how to capture Zim!!" Dib frantically cried. "I came so close to finally getting him...
UNTIL Y/N CAME ALONG AND STOPPED ME!" He whined.
Feeling defeated, he let his head drop, hitting the sticky cafeteria table with a thud.
"Pfftttt hehe." Gaz quietly giggled beside him.
"What are you laughing at? Something funny happen in your game?" Dib asked, wearily raising his head back up.
"Pfft no. I'm just remembering how she beat you just by throwing a stick at your fat head, heheheh. Must've been an easy target."
"IT WAS A VERY BIG STICK OKAY!!
AND MY HEAD ISN'T EVEN THAT BIG!"
"Yeah, sure."
Gaz got up to throw out the remainder of her lunch, which was all of it, leaving Dib to sulk to himself.
"What can I do? With Y/N helping him, he's even more of pain than before.
It was bad enough having one hot-headed enemy trying to take over the world, now I have to deal with two."
Dib's thoughts were disrupted by the screeching of the bell, and he slowly made his way back to class. His mind still stuck on trying to find ideas for a new plan.
(Your POV)
You and Zim also heard the bell and headed back to class to finish up the rest of the day.

*RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNG!!*
The bell rang once again, except this time it was the end of the day. The beautiful sound alerted the students that they could now go home. As for you, the sound alerted that you could now go to an extraterrestrial's base, and finally see if any of your favorite sci-fi alien flicks got anything right.
You walked over to Zim and started to leave the class alongside him. However, you felt eyes staring at the back of your head.
You turned a bit and peeked over your shoulder. Your curious eyes were met with Dib's.
Without saying a word, you turned back around and quickly walked out of the classroom.
Zim took notice.
"What happened? Did the DIB have something stupid to say?" Zim asked, chuckling to himself.
"No actually. But that's what worries me. He seemed a little...
too quiet today. Don't you think?"
"Hmmm. I have noticed a lack of his putrid screaming today. Maybe he's finally surrendered to the almighty Zim! I knew my greatness was too much for him to handle." Zim said, looking flattered.
"Yeah, or maybe he's just feeling salty because I chucked a stick at him yesterday."
"Haha! You did?!"
"Yeah, it was back when you were unconscious. It was how I managed to escape him."
"HA! I wish I could have seen the look on his face!" Zim laughed.
"Haha! Well, it looked something like this..."
You continued to make an overly exaggerated version of Dib's "I just got hit by a stick" face, which made Zim fill the hall with his high-pitched laughter.
"Heh hehe! Great work Y/N, I admire your methods!"
"Why thank you!" You proudly replied, taking a little bow.
Both of you then continued on and left the school, making your way to his base.
