Chapter 10- GIRs Just Wanna Have Fun (Part 2)
You walked with Zim up to the bench you noticed before and sat down. Zim hopping up and sitting beside you. The both of you sat watching Gir run around like a crazy animal with rabies, terrorizing children.
Zim looked around, filling up with disgust. He watched as kids ran around screaming like maniacs, drooling, biting, and just being overly obnoxious as they sporadically ran around the park.
Fools, Zim thought. look at them. Running and screaming for no reason. Pathetic earth worms.
You looked over to Zim and noticed his discomforted look. He didn't seem to do well in crowded places. This made you feel kind of guilty, knowing that you were the one responsible for him being here in the first place. You decided it was up to you to make him feel a little more comfortable.
"Hey, did you maybe want to chill on the swings or something?" You said taking off your bag and placing it on the ground beside you. You pointed in the direction of the empty swing set a few feet away.
Zim crossed his arms and turned his head towards you.
"And why would I want to do that?"
"Because it's better than just sitting here and weirdly staring at people. Plus, some fun could do you some good, grumpy." You said jokingly.
Zim raised a brow and looked at the swings. Before he could respond, you grabbed his arm and ran, leading him over to them.
You let go of him and chose a swing. Your shoes already filling with tiny grains of sand, which only caused minor discomfort. You sat on the swing and called Zim to join you.
"C'mon Zim!"
Zim timidity walked over and curiously observed the odd plaything. He approached the swing beside you and mimicked your action of hopping onto the seat. Except when he did, the swing flipped from under him and he flipped backward, landing flat on his back. His little booted feet sticking straight up in the air.
You quickly got up and helped him off the sandy ground.
"You ok?" You asked with a laugh.
"Zim is not yet knowledgeable of the use of these swings." He spoke dusting himself off.
"Oh! Well, don't worry I can help. I swear it's a lot more fun once you know how to use them."
You positioned yourself behind the swing and instructed Zim to sit on it again, reassuring him that you would catch him if he fell back.
He sat on it and wobbled slightly, but regained himself after a second of adjustment.
"Ok Zim, now hold on to the chains very tightly and do NOT let go."
"And exactly what will happen if I do?" He asked in a snarky tone.
"YOU WILL EXPLODE!!"
This made Zim grip them as tightly as his hands could, as he screamed in terror.
"WHAAAAAAT?!!!!! I should have known you-"
Zim's terrified rant stopped once he heard your snickering from behind him.
"WHAT'S SO FUNNY?!"
"Haha! You won't EXPLODE! You just might fall off and hurt yourself."
"Zim does not appreciate your TERRIBLE jokes!"
"I know, I know I'm sorry. I couldn't help myself." You said finishing your laughing spree. "Ok, so first you want to kick your legs forward."
Zim followed what you said and kicked.
"Good! Now swing them back as you had them before."
Zim once again followed your instructions but did not seem to move more than a centimeter. Zim however, seemed proud of his work.
"YES! I have mastered the art of the SWINNGG!"
He then continued to make a few odd Zim noises as he repeated the same kicking pattern, still not moving an inch.
"Ehhhhh no, not quite. Here I'll just push you."
You placed your hands on the boy's back and lightly pushed him forward. This caused Zim to tense his whole body, tightly gripping the chains and forcing his eyes shut.
Once it swung and returned to your hands, he quickly realized he was not in any danger.
"Well, that wasn't too bad." He said surprised and slightly impressed.
"Do that again."
You did as he said and pushed him again, a little harder this time. This making a chuckle escape Zim.
"Hee He He! This sensation makes my squeedily spooch feel funny!"
You continued to push him, his laughing growing stronger.
"Do you want to go higher?" You asked.
"Yes, I demand higher! Higher!!"
You put more force into your push, sending Zim high up. Zim could see a few houses from up there, adding to his amusement. His little legs kicking wildly in the air.
You soon started to slow him down, his swinging height gradually getting lower and lower until he was completely stopped.
Zim flailed onto the sand still chuckling. You couldn't believe he was this happy over a swing ride.
"So, how was it?" You asked.
"That was surprisingly amusing!" Zim said with a smile. "For...a human device," he mumbled under his breath, trying not to get himself too excited. "What else do you do for fun?"
You smiled and tapped his arm.
"Tag! You're it!" You yelled and sprinted away. You stopped and turned back to check, only to see he didn't move. He just stared at you with a questioning look.
"You have to CHASE me!" You yelled to him, cupping your hands around your mouth to enhance the volume. "That's the point of the game! Once you tap me I have to chase you!"
Zim smiled. "Pathetic Y/N human, you can't outrun the ZIMMM!!"
He got up and sprinted after you, you noticed this and dashed away.
Both you and Zim were ecstatic, running around the park. Zim dodged and jumped around other children and playsets trying to catch you, and you just kept going surprised at how fast his scrawny legs could go.
Of course, you eventually got tired out and started to slow down. Zim, on the other hand, seemed to have an endless supply of energy because he didn't stop to catch his breath once. He grew closer and closer, then jumped towards you.
You stopped, exhausted, and turned only to be pounced on by a Zim.
You were flat on the ground and looked up to see Zim sitting on your abdomen.
"YES! THE MIGHTY ZIM HAS YET AGAIN SUCCEEDED! TIG! YOU'RE IT!" he said, poking your nose with his pointy finger.
"Tag" you corrected "It's TAG you're it."
"Same difference," Zim said, climbing off you.
The two of you continued your game for another few minutes until you were finally too tired out to carry on.
"Zim! Zim I-I think I need to take a break." You puffed out, bending over and putting your hands on your knees.
Zim stopped running and walked back towards you.
"What's the matter?" He asked.
Then, you took him by surprise and taped his non-existent nose.
"There!" I got you." You huffed, smiling at his expression, unamused by your cheat.
"But seriously, I'm going to sit down for a second."
You walked back to the bench you were sitting at before and nearly collapsed onto it. Zim followed you and sat back down as well.
You were desperately thirsty. Luckily you remembered you had a water bottle in your bag. You unzipped your backpack and reached inside. After fumbling around a bit you could feel it in your hands and pulled it out. It caught you by surprise when a crumpled piece of paper came flying out with it.
The paper landed on the ground and was pushed by the wind towards Zim's feet.
Zim bent down and curiously picked it up. As he began to unfold it, your face heated out of embarrassment when you realized it was the purple doodle you drew back in class.
Zim observed it.
"Is that me?" He asked peering at it closely.
"Uh yeah. I just got bored in class and I just, I don't know, I felt like drawing that."
"It's not bad, but it could be better," Zim said still eyeing it.
"Oh excuse me Mr artist" you laughed, "and exactly how would you make it better?" You asked pulling the purple pen out your bag and handing it to him.
Zim took it from your hand.
"Well for starters I imagine myself more like this."
Zim rested the paper on the side of the bench and added a few scribbles to it. He then held it up showing off his modifications.
He just added a crown to his head.
"How did that make it better?"
"Because one day I, the mighty ZIM, shall rule over the earth!" He
announced proudly.
"Well in that case..."
You pulled out a fresh piece of paper and took the pen back from Zim.
You took a moment to draw your new picture. Zim leaned and stretched a few times trying to look over and see what you were doing.
"There, that more up to your standards Picasso."
You handed him the picture and he smiled. It was Zim standing on top of the earth, wearing a crown and cape while holding a staff.
"Personally, I think you'd be an awesome ruler." You said with a smirk.
Zim was surprised by your words. No one has ever said anything like that to him before. He didn't expect it, especially from a human.
"You-you do?" Zim said in a soft voice, turning to you.
You nodded.
Zim looked back down at the picture.
"Well...this still could be better."
He held out his hand, indicating that he wanted the pen back.
You just gave him a half-lidded look and placed it in his hand.
Zim started adding to your picture. As he drew he stuck his little tongue out the corner of his mouth and turned to look at you every few seconds.
You crossed your arms and raised a brow. Curious of what the end result would be.
Zim finished his work and confidently handed you the pen and paper. You took both from him and looked down at the image.
A grin slowly growing on your face when you saw it. A cute, poorly drawn doodle of you now stood beside Zim.
"I mean that's- It's great I mean- Thank you, Zim."
"Well, I feel you've shown me more eh, niceness compared to most earth monkeys. So I guess what I'm trying to say is...
Eghghhgg...
Thank...
You Y/N."
All of a sudden, Gir came running up to both of you squealing, interrupting the moment.
"I AtE a SqUreL!!"
You and Zim just deadpanned at him.
"Good for you Gir," Zim said, "good for you."
