Chapter 63: Kogi
Okay, before I begin, I just want everyone to know that Kogi DOES NOT belong to me! She belongs to@Inuyashalover2015 . She commented on the chapter and asked me to put her character in so I did. She'll be helping out in the story. Now, last we left off, Izayoi ran away to find Arrosa to prove to Inuyasha that Arrosa was not the enemy. What will she find?
Izayoi's POV
Two whole days. That's how long I've been on my own. After I ran from Papa, I grabbed my sword, my bow and arrows, and my bag and ran away from the others without any explanation. I didn't really think everything through. My mind was just so full of emotions that I couldn't think straight. Now I was starting to regret my decision to run. All I had to go on was my nose to try and pick-up Arrosa's scent.
Soon, I neared a small village. There asked the locals if a priestess had come by. "A priestess? Well, a few days ago, a priestess named Lady Arrosa passed through," an elderly woman recalled.
"Did she say where she was going?" I questioned.
"No. She just said she was passing through."
Another dead end. Arrosa had been there, but I was too late to meet her. Welp, on the road again, I thought before following the dirt road into the woods.
That night, I sat by myself around the fire. It was really quiet. Man how I missed the conversations of my friends. The silence was eating at me like a rabid wolf eats at a bone. I wish I had someone to talk to, I thought to myself.
Suddenly, there was a rustling in the woods. I stopped and grabbed my bow, knocking an arrow onto the string. "Who's there?" I called out. "Show yourself."
It was silent for a while until I saw a figure stumbling towards me. I waited for a minute, ready to shoot in order to protect myself, when I realized that it was a girl who had stumbled out from the woods. An injured girl in fact. She had black hair to her waist, brown eyes, and dog ears at the top of her head. Her black and blue kimono was torn, almost like she had been attacked by some beast, and she had scratches all over her. She also looked to be my age, if not a year older.
"Are you all right?" I asked with concern.
The girl only moved her mouth, with no words coming out, before collapsing to the ground.
**********(Time Skip)
After a while, the girl woke-up. She groaned, which got my attention, and then sat up. "Ohh, my head," she groaned.
"Good to see you up," I told her, sliding over a small container of ramen to her. "I was kinda worried about ya. I'm Izayoi by the way."
"...Kogi." She replied before picking up the container and sniffing it. Then she titled it and then swallowed the noodles and juice whole in one gulp. "Mmmm, delicious. I've never had anything like that before. What is it?"
"Ramen."
"Well it definitely tastes better than a lot of the stuff I've eaten."
I laughed as I got out a water bottle and gave it to Kogi. "So Kogi, what are you doing out here by yourself? Don't you live in a village nearby with your parents?"
As soon as I said the word parents Kogi stopped drinking. She just sat there with her bangs covering her eyes. "They're dead," she flatly stated. "They died when I was a little kid...Father was killed by a demon and Mother died to an illness."
"I'm sorry. I didn't-"
"It's fine." Kogi leaned up against the tree with her arms crossed over her chest. "I'm more of a loner anyway."
She reminds me of Papa, I thought as I watched her brush off the deaths of her parents like it was nothing. Mama told me stories about how Papa wanted to be alone but as time went on he began to melt into the small group he came to call family.
"So thanks for the meal and all but I'm gonna get out of your hair."
"You don't have to go," I said. "Well, unless you're heading somewhere."
"...Not really. Just trying to find someone."
"Really? Me too!" I guess having a girl my age who was also a half-demon was a bit exciting. "I'm looking for a priestess named Arrosa. Have you seen her?"
Kogi scratched her head for a moment in thought. Then she turned back to look at me. "I think I saw her," she answered. "She was passing through the village I was in with a little cat with her. Said something about looking for some demon named Naraku."
"Did you see which way she went?"
"North."
Then I'm going the right way! I thought with a smile on my face. But why North? "Thank you Kogi," I thanked before shaking her hand. "I'm gonna head out North in the morning then. You can stay in my camp for the night."
"Okay."
3rd Person's POV
As Izayoi slept that night, Kogi walked over to a lake and stared at her reflection. She stared at it for a moment before she saw Naraku in the reflection. "Did you tell her?" He asked as Kogi turned to look at him.
"Yes," Kogi answered with a growl.
"Oh, don't be like that my dear. You're the one who wanted Izayoi out of the way remember? So you could be with the man you love."
Kogi sighed. She did dislike Izayoi. Tsuyo had fallen in love with Izayoi even though Kogi had hinted to him about her feelings for him. So when Naraku had told her of a way for her to get Tsuyo to herself she agreed to his deal. However she didn't know that that meant Izayoi would fall into Naraku's clutches.
Tsuyo is mine though, Kogi thought. I'm sorry Izayoi.
Kogi doesn't want to make a deal with Naraku but she also loves Tsuyo. What awaits Izzy in the North? Find out next time.
