Chapter 5: So Which Way Do We Go?

Last time we left off, Izayoi and the others agreed to go and find Naraku to put an end to him once and for all. Can a half-demon, half-priestess, two twin demons slayers, a monk in training, and a full grown fox demon take down Naraku in order to save their loved ones? Well we'll have to find out now won't we?

Izayoi's POV

We left the village when we had our supplies packed. We started our investigation off at the burned spot in the field to see what else we could find. "Have you guys found anything yet?" Shippo asked as we checked the scene.

I kept my nose to the ground as I tried to look for any scent whatsoever. "Nothing," I mumbled. "There's no trace of Naraku or the others anywhere."

"There's no footprints on the ground either," Ayuma confirmed. "which unsettling. There's no trace of animal tracks either which is confusing."

"Naraku has done a very through job of covering his tracks," Mochigo added. "It's as if he was able to hide all evidence of him being here."

"But where would he go?" Kayuma asked. "Where would he hide himself?"

We all sat down on the ground and tried to think of some way to find Naraku. My mind was racing with different theories on where the evil man could've taken our parents but none of them helped us to get any closer to an answer.

I stood up from my spot on the ground after some time, getting the attention of the others. "Well then, I guess we'll have to hunt down Naraku the old fashion way," I spoke. "If we keep wondering from place to place, we're sure to find news of Naraku. He's bond to cause trouble at some point. We'll have to do it just like our parents did before."

"That could work," Ayuma said. "It seemed to work for our parents so why not us? If we work together then we can surely find Naraku no problem."

"So then it's settled," Mochigo said. "We'll head out. Should we start in the East or West?"

"I say we start East," Kayuma suggested. "If we do, we could stop by to see Master Mushine and ask him if he's heard anything about Naraku."

"If he's not drunk that is." Shippo whispered. We all laughed. Master Mushine was a........well, he was something. But when it got serious, he would let us know valuable information about Naraku that could help us in our search.

"Okay then," Ayuma said. "Let's go East."

Ayuma led the way as we traveled through the woods and towards the next village. You're probably wondering why I'm not taking charge. Well that's because Ayuma's a natural-born leader, plus she's the oldest out of all of us- besides Shippo anyway. (He kind of chickened out on the position to tell you the truth.)

"I'm so tired." I complained after traveling on foot for several hours.

"We should stop to rest," Mochigo pointed out. "It's getting dark and we do need to eat."

"All right then, we'll rest here for the night," Ayuma told us, allowing us all to collapse to the ground with exhaustion. Ayuma looked at us with the You've-got-to-be-kidding-me look. "Come on guys, we haven't been walking for that long."

"But we're so tired." Kayuma said.

Ayuma sighed in defeat, knowing that there was no point in arguing since she was tired as well, just not as tired as we were.

"Let's pull out some dinner." Ayuma said, trying to change the topic.

I quickly opened my bag as Shippo started a fire. It was a good thing that Mama had given me some Ramen in a cup to boil over the fire. Everyone was glad to get some food from the future since it was so delicious.

"I love the food Kagome gets from the future," Shippo said as he ate his share of Ramen. "I missed it so much."

"Me too," Mochigo added. "Kagome always bring back such delicious delicacies."

"Indeed." Ayuma and Kayuma said at the same time. It's a twin thing that happens from time to time.

"Mama let me pick out the food the last time she went to visit Grandmother," I said. "I knew you guys would love this new Ramen they recently came up with in the future."

We all ate with large smiles plastered on our faces that followed as the delicious food went down our throats. However, I could still tell that we were all depressed with the events that had occurred. Just the other day we were all living normal lives with our families and then the next thing we knew our parents were kidnapped by a demon that was thought to have been dead many years before we were born.

Mama, Papa, I thought. Are you save? Or are you... I didn't let my mind wonder any farther. I would've realized if my parents were dead wouldn't I?

"Izayoi," Shippo said, getting me away from my thoughts. "Are you okay?"

"Yes," I answered. "I'll be fine."

I think he could tell I was lying. He didn't say anything though, which made me breathe a little easier. I didn't need the others to know how scared I was. It was frightening not being able to defend myself against Naraku. He threw me around like some sort-of ragdoll. But I couldn't be scared of him. I had to show courage if I had to save my parents.
