Chapter 48: Shippo the Babysitter

All right, I've had to do some editing since I've been doing Izzy's name wrong. I'm truly sorry Inuyasha fans. Please forgive my insolence! It took about two hours, but I fixed it! Anyway, on with the story. This is just going to be a "for fun" chapter.

3rd Person's POV

Shippo watched as five small children, who all looked to be about 4-years old each, slept in Kilala's fur. There were four girls and one boy and they each slept peacefully with one another. Two of the girl looked to be twin sisters that looked a lot like Sango, one of the girls looked like a younger version of Kikyo, the boy resembled a young Miroku, and the other girl looked like a young Kagome with dog ears.

"This isn't good," Shippo muttered. "How can I change them back?"

Here's what happened earlier that day;

Flashback

"All right, Ramen's ready," Izayoi called out as she finished the meal. She passed an equal amount around to everyone and they all enjoyed the meal very much.

As they ate, Izayoi had the scent of a demon enter her nostrils as she ate. The young girl got up and took Tensoga out from its sheathe. The others got up as well and followed in Izayoi's lead, grabbing their weapons as well and searching for any signs of the demon.

Suddenly, from out of nowhere, a beam of light came from the woods and hit Mochigo, Ayuma, Kayuma, Arrosa and Izayoi to the ground, knocking them all unconscious, leaving Shippo the only one left standing. He gulped down his nervousness as a demon came out from the woods. "Why you-" the demon growled as he charged at Shippo.

Shippo growled too and charged at the demon. "Fox magic, smashing top!" Shippo yelled as he pulled out a small top the transformed into a large top and destroyed the demon. "That takes care of that thing. Now to see how the others are doing."

When Shippo turned back to look at the others, he was shocked to find that the others had turned into small children, who were unconscious on the ground.

End of Flashback

Now Shippo watched the children, waiting for them to awaken. The problem was, what was going to happen when the children woke-up? Would they recognize Shippo?

That's when Izayoi began to stir in her sleep. She slowly got up from her spot in Kilala's fur and yawned adorably. She rubbed her brownish-gold eyes and then looked up at Shippo with childish curiosity. "Who are you Mister?" Izayoi asked, turning her head to the side.

"Izzy? You don't remember me?" Shippo questioned.

The child shook her head. "The only other people that call me Izzy are my Mommy and my friend Shippo," Izayoi sniffed the air a little bit and then crawled into Shippo's lap. "But you do smell like Shippo. Why is that?"

"Well you see-"

That's when the other children began to stir from their sleep. Ayuma and Kayuma woke-up at the same time, and even yawned at the same time- much like twin sisters would do. "What happened?" Ayuma questioned.

"I don't know," Kayuma replied, looking around for any familiar faces. "Where are Mother and Father?"

Ayuma shrugged her shoulders and then saw her little brother sleeping right next to her. She shook the boy's shoulder, trying to wake him up. Mochigo squinted his eyes but then arose from his sleep, rubbing his eyes in the process. "What's the matter Ayuma?" Mochigo asked sleepily.

"Where are Mother and Father?" Ayuma inquired.

Mochigo shrugged his shoulders as well, unsure of how to answer his sister.

Arrosa, being the last child to wake, rose up from her spot in Kilala's fur and rubbed her eyes. When she saw the other children, the young girl became very nervous when she didn't see her Mother. "Mother? Mother where are you?" the young girl asked.

"Calm down," Shippo told the child. "She's-"

"Who are you anyway?" Ayuma queried. "Where are we? And where are our parents?"

Shippo looked at all five children as they listened in for an answer. They looked concerned and very frightened at the same time. Okay, Shippo thought. How do I explain how they're actually older than they actually think they are and the fact that Naraku is back?

Before Shippo could explain anything, Izayoi slapped a hand to her cheek when she felt that something was biting her. When she moved her hand away, a little flea fell into her hand and revealed itself as Myoga.

Myoga questioned what happened and Shippo explained the whole thing about the turtle demon. After finally understanding, Myoga told Shippo that an antidote could be made but it was going to take some time.

*********************************

The hours passed by very slowly for the grown fox demon as he had to make sure the kids didn't get hurt. They would run in different directions and Shippo was left with the job of chasing them down. He explained to the the children that he was in fact Shippo, even though it was hard for the children to believe at first. Then when it came to questions about their parents, all Shippo told the children was that they told him to watch over them for the time being, which wasn't so much a lie.

Currently, the five children were playing by the river, splashing each other over and over again. The only person Arrosa seemed to trust was Izayoi, who was more than happy to befriend the girl.

"This is fun isn't it?" Izayoi asked Arrosa as the two got wet from the three siblings.

Arrosa had a small smile come to her face as she tried to block the water that was coming right at her. "This is rather fun," Arrosa replied as she giggled.

Izayoi smirked when an idea came to her on how to get the others wet. "I'll be right back," she told Arrosa, running out of the river and climbing up a tree.

"What is she doing?" Mochigo inquired as Izayoi got in the tallest branch.

"Cannon ball!" Izayoi shouted as she jumped into the river. causing huge waves to knock everyone out of the water.

"Well, that's one way to get us wet," Ayuma said.

"Indeed," Kayuma added, getting some water out of her ears.

As the human children got up, they noticed that Izzy was missing. "Where did Izayoi go?" Arrosa questioned.

"HELP ME!" Izzy voice yelled from down the river. The remaining children turned to see that Izayoi was being carried downstream by a strong current. She tried as best as she could to stay above water but her head kept being ducked under water, making it hard for the young girl to breathe. "Please help me!"

"Hold on Izayoi, we're coming," Ayuma yelled to the other girl.

The siblings, and Arrosa, got on top of Kilala, rose into the air, and followed Izayoi's path down the river. "Kilala, go lower so we can try and grab Izayoi," Kayuma instructed.

The big cat nodded and went lower so the others could try and grab the half demon. However, Kilala hit a low-hanging branch and smacked the children onto the riverside. As the tried to recover, Shippo came running by, stopping for a moment to make sure no one was badly injured.

After hearing the yelling going on Shippo went to see what was going on and he nearly fainted when he saw Izzy so far down stream and the other children on the riverside. "Hold on Izzy, I'm coming!" Shippo quickly went into action and ran along side the river as fast as he could to get to the little girl. If I don't hurry, Izzy will be swept over the waterfall up ahead.

As Izzy's head bobbed up and down in the water, she stopped screaming, trying her best to just catch a breathe of air. She was just feet away from going over the fall when Shippo jumped in and got her out, just in the nick of time.

When the two were on dry land, Izzy started coughing up water that had gotten caught in her lungs. "Are you okay?" Shippo asked with concern.

Izzy coughed up more water but nodded.

Shippo sighed with relief.

******************************

"What were you thinking?!" Shippo shouted at the children. "You kids could've gotten hurt!" They were all drying off after their little river adventure as Shippo ranted at them.

"We're sorry Shippo," the children all apologized at the same time.

"It's all my fault Shippo," Izayoi spoke up. "The others wouldn't have gotten hurt if I hadn't gotten swept downstream."

Shippo sighed. "At least no one got hurt, that's all that matters."

At that moment, Myoga arrived with the antidote. "Now just drink up and you'll be back to normal," Myoga explained.

"Back to normal?" the children asked.

"Just drink up," Shippo told them.

"Okay," as they drank the antidote, their bodies began to age back to their original ages.

"What happened?" Mochigo asked.

"I don't remember anything from today," Ayuma said.

"Shippo, what happened to us?" Arrosa spoke.

"Uh, it's hard to say," Shippo answered.

So Shippo's little babysitting adventure is over and now the others are back to normal. What will be in store for the group as they dive deeper into the mystery of the sacred jewel? Find out next time! Read, comment, vote, and share with others please! Thank you, oh, and happy holidays!
